That's a good question. I believe it is low 13 seconds. I know of 2 XR5's that made it to the 12's, however they were from Victoria and not sure if they are still alive or not.
Thanks mate, glad you liked it. The sound is the biggest difference. In stock form there is a small whistle when you're up it, whereas a CAI like the dreamscience, or OEM denied one gives it that big woosh. Performance wise, it gives a little more up top where the standard focus seems to run out of puff from 4,500rpm upwards.
David Bourne i always loved the sound of that volvo engine.. mate i am actually looking to buy one.. hopefully this weekend.. my current car has been driven into the ground. i will be using it as a daily.. from what i read they seem pretty reliable.. has anyone you know had to rebuild the turbo after X amount of kms? or is it a car that can last over 200xxxkms?

Hi Mate, Personally I have my 5 serviced at Ron Stocks, in Castle Hill. Sinclair Ford in Penrith have a lot of experience with the XR5, if you would prefer to go the dealer route. Tuning wise, I had my car tuned at CMS down in Prestons and they did a fantastic job. Else Tunehouse have a lot of Experience with the 5 as well, both in tuning and servicing.
Personally I much prefer the sound of the old 5 pot engine. Especially when you add an intake and exhaust. To me, the ST doesn't have a "nice" sound or a mean sound, but that's just me. If you compare this to the 2010 RS, well in its modded state, it would be faster, but an RS has a special feel to it. If you mean the MK3 RS, then similar points to the ST stand. I'm not a fan of the sound the new one makes, whereas the MK2 sounds so, so good.
I honestly think they are the best exhaust for the 5, granted I'm bias. Miltek is good if you want a more refined, softer sound, but honestly these things pop bang and bark so nicely you have to hear them :D
It's a tough call, as both cars are great. Ultimately it comes down to whether you want that 5 cylinder sound though. The LW ST will be faster, more refined, more up to date tech wise. Looks are subjective, so personally I think the LV looks edgier. But in the end it's whether you want the 5pot. If that isn't such a big deal to you, then the LW would be the pick.
Hi mate, I'm pretty sure I remember Jason ran an upgraded Turbo, but can't remember the specifics of it unfortunately. I think it was a dream science hybrid turbo.
