I've got a 07 Electric Orange Pre Facelift XR5, owned it for 3 years now and I still get excited every morning when I start mine up. Nothing beats that 5 pot sound! 💥
One of my favorite engine's in a small ford. I like the sound & pop's it makes. The flames match the colour of the paint. The engine sound reminds me of Audi's group B car's.
Wow! Very professional videography and review. One of my favourite cars personally especially in this colour. I was pretty shocked to see you weren't on like 500k subs, must've been lots of work to put this together. I commend you mate, keep up the good work and you'll make it big someday.
Thank you very much! really appreciate the nice comment :) its a lot of work but i love reviewing and filming all the cars.. hoping one day to get full time at this
Another top review Johnny mate, nice to see you having fun in that little rocket it goes great lol,ok looking forward to your next review, you all take care buddy.
Great review Ross & colour is the beauty, I've got a 2002 SR el'cheapo & luv doing doughnuts in Reverse KEEP those vids coming Ross U tell it how it IS
@@RossReviewsau found one in mint condition, 12k, had CVs, timing belt, oil filter housing, and a bunch of other stuff done 4k km ago. It does have a lot of km on it but it's in immaculate condition
Another great review Ross. I like the XR5. I've thought about buying 1. I have an Audi S4 and an XR8 ute and I never remember which side the indicator is on. It's so annoying when you hit the wipers at ever corner. LOL.
I went from an fg xr6 turbo to a focus titanium 2.0 turbo diesel. Had it dynoed to 312nm, 106 kw at the front wheels. It goes fine for a daily driver, the torque is great, handles awesome. No hectic skids though unfortunately but my wallet is happier.
Hi Ross reviews this is Jordan’s car reviews here. I loved the video. Can you please do the review on that HSV GTSR W1 at Gardner Holden on Tuesday please and a Kia Cerato GT hatchback in runaway red on Friday please. When the Borders open can you please go down to Victoria and review that green 2016 Maloo please.
Great review ,Im like you love a bit of tourgue steer ,the sister to this is the ST Focus 225 3 door which is the same but different front and 3 door ,which we have in Nz ,I think you guys got them too?
i don't believe we got the 3 door version.. only the RS was 3 door.. i like the practicality of the 5 door but gotta admit the looks on the 3 door are so much nicer!
I have owned my XR5 from new back in 2007 , and i love driving it everyday , I am about to upgrade to a full performance exhaust and give it some more KW through a Dreamscience hand controller ...cant wait .......
@@RossReviewsau just gave my girl an upgraded tune on the weekend engine is now producing around 206 kw ...more to come with exhaust , but she is like a beast now just keeps pulling hard
Anyone else notice the white XR5 cruise by @7:27 looks pretty nice in white. But great review, looking at possibly picking one up in about a week or so.
Finally a turbo Ford that sounds good haha too bad it had to be powered by bloody Volvo. Great video fella I liked these little cars when they came out and looks good for the age.
Yes mate, I had an S40 T5 2012 ish I think earlier not later if anything, delicious engine, delicious manual gearbox, not many manuals made it to Oz I hear, a delight to drive
I wanted one of these to be able to drive my dog around in.. but he's too big, so compromised and got a Kuga instead, a 5cyl medium sized AWD SUV which is basically one of these on growth hormones 🤣🤣 only issue is they come factory with 147kW (?) and have a single clutch auto, so it's a bit weird to drive in comparison to these. Will tune it eventually but!
Hi Ross, if you like a hot hatch maybe when restrictions are lifted you can venture East to drive my Fiesta ST, modified of course. And while you are her you can drive my Clubsport GXP.
Correct about the leather seats being 2 in the rear vs cloth 3 in the rear. Used to have an XR5 Turbo, FG XR6 turbo now, what an upgrade it is too, aha
@@RossReviewsau I can’t think of a reason. I’ve never been in a mode with cloth seats, so I can’t speak for them, but they’re super comfy in the back like you said dude

Ross, have you driven a Mazda 3 MPS? Not as special as the XR5 and definitely lacking in the soundtrack but the performance even in standard form eclipses the focus
I am also in WA and own a 2009 XR5 and I was converted to the 5pot from the first drive! And I was always a v8 man. One of the most underrated cars in my opinion. Presuming that has RS rear seats to be a four seater? The interior looks pre facelift so I’m a little confused
i gotta agree the 5 pots are something special eh had me really tempted to get one.. (still want lol) from what the comments have said if you optioned leather you only got 4 seats.. very weird eh.. but ya the RS was a 4 seater so maybe they use similar/same rear seat?
Ross Reviews ahh the leather option explains it.. well there ya go! Learn something new everyday even with the same model car ya own😂🤪 loving your channel mate so keep it up.. especially being Perth based 🤙🏼
Are those headlights stock? they look amazing....Great review man like always.... you never see these cars one the road... Spins me out when you do and see the XR badge cause so used to the XR6/XR8 falcons.. think i have seen the XR4 once
aftermarket headlights.. i know what you mean eh its funny to see this in the XR line up.. but after driving one its well deserved.. ive only ever seen a XR4 once or twice also lol
I Gapplebeesed the shit of one of these last night with my 1984 Mitsubishi GSR Cordia Turbo running 10psi on my wastegate spring pressure tune 😂. Apparently it had a stage 2 tune but they are too heavy 1400kg vs 950kg of my evo swapped Cordia.
If you can afford a MK2 RS get the RS will hold value and it is the better hatch by far.. but value for money the XR5 is great! Just make sure you check the maintenance history.. I love them tho would honestly own one
fun to watch Jon....Not a biggest fan of the Focus but I do like them and have driven a couple...Give me this era because they are much better to look at than the later ones IMO.. The FG XR6 N/a Falcon is about 6.5 to 7 seconds to 100 by the way ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tDw2AVV0l_A.html so around the same acceleration which is interesting to see given that the Focus has a lot less less engine capacity in size but also less weight and the turbo bolted in . . The XR5 though has a lot to like about it if the hatch is the choice people prefer and has killer looks to match ..I guess the big difference if you want a turbo Ford is the endless upgrading the Falcon gives you that a Focus is much more limited in and why these XR5's would never be a big seller in this country . The XR6 T will always be king . Thanks for the insight into it .
this is the best era as its got the 5 pot engine.. the biggest thing about the 0-100 time on the XR5 is that is front wheel drive n really struggles to get the power down.. once its moving it really feels proper quick.. but yes XR6T will always be the king
@@RossReviewsau haha yea didn't think about that. I was lucky enough to find one with super low ks, but still a good price. 14,800 with 31,000 ks, rare find.
@@edwinbrycepillay7291 very very reliable cars if u buy low ks, from a mature driver, do not buy from a young male p plater . I use mine as a daily Have not had 1 issue in the last year .
never had an issue n this car is basically stock compared to a lot of cars i've reviewed.. i always say we can take the plates off.. but no one ever does
Ross Reviews Thats cool Ross. i think the fines are pretty huge for that. I know its common with focus drivers because they love to see those flames. Very nice review and sweet little car.
Loved this bro. Check out my channel if you want some mk2 focus st/ ford xr5 turbo content :) shame your so far away in aus. But I rep the ST scene here in the UK
