Jay was definitely one of my favorite characters in Modern Family. His arch was amazing and the moments he has with certain characters was just so heartwarming.

I think this is because Jay is always a good dad. Claire was just a little high-maintenance, Mitchell was a little hard for him to accept, and Manny took some time before Jay can see him as a son. The one episode that makes me think Jay has always been a good one is when he revealed that he stayed in marriage with his ex-wife just because he wanted his kids to grow up with both parents.

Lol. I feel like there is a back story where Jay told him something like, "If you weren't going to be the father of my first grandchild, I would strangle you for knocking up my daughter while she was in college." or something to that effect where Jay was clearly upset that his son in law knocked his daughter up but at the same time wanted to respect him for doing the right thing and marrying her.

Kids always know who´s there for them. Jay used to get jealous when Manny used to think that Javier was an incredible dad for showing up to do the fun stuff but as he grew up he realized who was there for him. That moment they had in the graduation episode felt so wholesome. Finally, Manny recognizes him as his dad.

Saw Ed at Little Joe's in San Francisco when i was 12 years old. Small Italian restaurant, during his Married with Children run. As my family and I were leaving I said "Have a good night Al".. Without missing a beat he says "You too buddy". Still remember it like it was yesterday.

Jay was always a good dad, some times his focus might have been a bit off, but he worked hard to provide for his kids and when he retired he gave them the moral support they needed.

Being a step mom myself the graduation scene always gets me, because you know you didn't birth them, you know at any minute you can hear those words you're not my real mom, but I pray one day he can see me than more than a step mom, I just hope he'll see everything I've sacrificed for his happiness.

MISSED the most important moment: When Claire & Mitch figure out how Jay was facing financial issues & hence had to cut off their vacation to work as a waiter to pay family bills. Jay named his career changing closet collection as MADDOX- after Mitch’s favourite music album

Jay would say to me men don't cry, but I'm in tears, how heartwarming it is. I wish I'd have a dad like Jay Pritchett. My Mother raised me all by herself and she is my super hero. But I wished my dad wouldn't left her alone with me. MODERN FAMILY is a Life-Lesson and I miss that show so much... 🥺

In all the chaos that goes around in this modern family, Jay is the voice of reason. And while being the voice of reason is great, it’s not always soft hearted. But moments like these make Jay the best father out of all the fathers in the family.
