Wow, this is incredible. I feel like Max, literally all the time just in this segment. The man is talking about RIGHT NOW. Maybe even the last 3 years. 2 NCAA championships in the last 3 years would put you at the best college bball coach at the moment, not all-time, but most certainly in present day. Michael Jordan is the GOAT, but his final 2 years in the NBA when he played for the Wizards, from 38-40, he wasn't the best player in the league, not even a top 5.

thing is best today and best ever are a pretty similar thing, its not like when your playing and your body breaks down and you are no longer as good as you once were, in terms of coaching you can only really get better with time theoretically as experience is a huge factor

There was somebody that said there is no college team playing at high level and they all dropped dropped. Tbh looking at Villy last couple games they were playing at a high level. They were moving the ball around like a pro team being unselfish on both end taking charges, diving on the floor , having that dog in them, rebounding well even against bigger players, they was switching well on defense, stayed composed, disciplined, shot the 3 and when they wasn’t shooting well they actually took the mid range shots and stared driving until they could warm back up behind the line.

For coach K to get all of the best recruiting classes and besides that okafor year in 2015 which was not a good team he’s underperformed in the past couple of years. on a true coaching basis jay wright doesn’t get great recruiting classes but he develops the talent they have. Honestly, my top coaches are Roy then Jay then Coach K at this moment in time. Coach K has changed is way of coaching, and I think it is more talent based anything. UNC on the other hand is more on the same page as Villanova, players stay and play 4 years and develop good chemistry. I think Roy is at the top based on what he has had to go through and the teams hes produced in the last decade. Dominance with less talent, well-coached, and build a team/program. You can actually be a fan of player.

Rick Pitino had he never left Kentucky he would have been up there with coach K, if not higher. He would have won atleast 4 championships, maybe 5-6. IMO he still to this day is a top 5 NCAA basketball coach of all time.

The reason Jay Wright is the best coach WRIGHT NOW is because of the way basketball has changed even in the last 5 years and his part in changing it. Used to be you could have a couple big 5 star recruits like Bagley and just "outsize" the competition. They are still significant recruits don't get me wrong, BUT Wright has developed his offense to neutralize very talented big men by finding players that work well within his system and he often plays a "4 guard" offense (small ball) and even with his "bigs" play like guards (they can go out on the perimeter and make 3s). So he's revolutionized the game to the extent that people like Dickie-V are calling to move the 3 point line out (which would actually benefited Villanova ironically since they can all shoot from much deeper than the current 3 point line, but would have hurt a team like UMBC). So absolutely right now his system and his method of coaching is better than anyone else in the game.

Pretty sure if this question was phrased better there would be less uproar. And as historic as Coach K is... I’m still disappointed that he didn’t lead this talented duke team to at least a final four berth. If he doesn’t get to that level with all the talent coming in next year the questions of Coach K losing a step will mount.
