Coming to you with 30 years of experience with the following (Audiophile, music / sound engineer, producer, and professional musician.. Both speakers are very good for the money!! but you can easily tell the EXTREME 2 has a much better sound more neutral with all the frequencies, better bass, sweeter high ends in a more neutral mid-range.. The charge 4 sounds great but it sounds WAY MORE TREBLE and GRAINY.. nothing wrong with the speaker it's just is what it is. you can only get so much out of small speakers . I DON'T CARE IF YOU SPEND A BILLION DOLLARS ON A SMALL SPEAKER!! THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH YOU CAN DO IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MATH!! But obviously there's a trade-off of portability but the strap makes it worth it.. GREAT VIDEO!!

You forgot to mention that the placement of the speaker also plays a huge roll. Of course the bigger the speaker the better compared to the smaller ones, cause you just can't "squeeze 1 litre of juice from one orange". But placing JBL Charge 4 in a good place you will notice the huge difference.

@@Mariusgrmg Agreed to get more bass response if you get closer to the wall or a corner yes But that's the same thing for the bigger speaker except you'll get even more tighter bigger bottom.. The charge is a great little speaker but I always going to have a little bit more Bass..

Mr. Ezekielo, Sweet feedback on both products and I really value your opinion. I also want to say that your had great choices of song. They represented what the speakers can do and also proved some troubles areas as pointed out on the bigger JBL Xtreme 2. I still don't know what I will purchase but these beats going to best buy and not getting a true presentation of the product. Cheers from Niagra Falls, New York.

I got 2 extreme 1s coming todaya cuz they were 150 ea for the camo which I love. Hope I'm happy with them. Just wish they had connect plus to pair with pop's boomboxes

Don’t forget before you guys make up your mind between these two considering size, volume, highs and lows of the bass and clarity, look at a video where both of these compare to the Flip. People prefer the Flip over the Charge if they want better quality and they prefer the Charge if they want better volume. If you make your decision between the two in this video, compare that choice to the flip at least. Not saying the flip is gonna win you over, but you’ll see which is more suitable for you.

Flip 5 $110 CAD, Charge 4 $240, Xtreme 2 is $250 (post Black Friday Sale) I wanted the Xtreme but for $150 savings I'm leaning towards Flip5; I don't mind the size or the no USB C charge on Xtreme 2 but for 5 Hz, no Connect +, no reverse charge vs a little clearer bass and much bigger battery I'm indecisive. It's frustrating that it's hard to decided between 2 JBLs of virtually the same generational release and no 5.0 Bluetooth. Urrrrgh.

I'm lucky to own both and often use them in tandem. The charge 4 is a better allrounder but sometimes u was the extra grunt of the extreme2 and the ability to take a phone call from it is also a great feature.

With size of jbl extreme 2 I expect more sound but when I play both speakers one by one I did not notice big difference. Oh god jbl extreme 2 is huge near jbl charge 4 but that size did not give very loud thats why jbl charge 2,3,4, whatever it is .it is best among all jbl.

You can actually buy the go case for the charge 4 and it comes with a strap. At the price I'd rather get 2 charges and sync them. Lighter, more portable and honestly I don't see a $200 difference between the 2.

Just got the xtreme 2! But in comparison with the charge 4 it’s quieter and less bass pronounced.. how can that be.. I feel like the charge 4 has more drive in a way. I've got PA/studio speakers that are too loud, even at the lowest settings for a nice backyard vibe. Plus taking them outside setting them up's too much of a back workout and a mess of wires, stands and sh!t. So, I bought the JBL Charge 4. Love it. Box of beer in one hand, Charge 4 in the other--out the door and to the patio table--on a sunny Hawkes Bay afternoon (NZ). Great sound, ust enough bass--but not too loud to drown out conversation and attract the noise police. Remember garbage in garbage out--make sure your music files are high-fidelity. And it last's longer on one charge than my phone. Love the JBL Charge 4.

You state the JBL charge 4 has better Tweeter sound.. I think overall as I've explained it sounds more grainy and mid-rangie... Make sense because the JBL 4 has much less bass response so turning down the bass is the same thing is turning up the treble and mid range.. From my graphs you can also see that the JBL Xtreme 2 has a much more flat frequency response through the entire spectrum.. You call it muffled.. I call it more natural and more rich.. The JBL charge for sounded very grainy and irritating with the loss of Sweetness in the high-end.. The JBL Xtreme 2 sounds more like in closer to studio speakers or expensive Hi-Fi speakers in terms of balance... 30 years of experience as an audio file, sound engineer etc etc.. with listening and owning speakers that cost over $5,000!! But anyways it all depends what your ear likes.. but all I can tell you is for a fact the JBL Xtreme 2 is closer to expensive speakers than the charge I would say much closer..

In my experience, I found the charge 4 to be loud enough with the windows up. I did not have to go up to max volume. But with the windows down and at max volume the speaker was not quite loud enough to overpower the wind if I was driving at highway speeds.

Hey, is it true that Xtreme 2 sounds better when plugged in with an AC ? I'm asking cos i'm a bass head, i wanna buy xtreme 2 but i became confused after seeing some reviews about it, i can't always plug my speaker anytime i wanna use it just to get the best out of it, and lastly, is there any alternative with good battery life or should i just get charge 4 ? Yes it's true. JBL specifies that the xtreme 2 has a 40 watt output when charging and doesn't when not charging, though they don't specify what that output is when not charging. The xtreme 1 doesn't do that though so the general consensus that I've gotten has been that the xtreme 1 is louder. The main trade off is it's not waterproof.

Hello Ezekielo. I've noticed on my charge 4 when I' watching a movie the charging leds turn on for 30 sec then they go out and then lights on again... Can you explain me whi is this happening? Is it normal? It seems that is in a period of silence when the leds turn on.

xchrisyo Xchrisyo it doesn’t vibrate the windows by any means but it’s perfect for outside doing yard work or at a family gathering. It has plenty of volume and you can hear the bass it’s just not like a subwoofer

Some more technicalalmost every speaker in general plays it's flat frequency response at a certain level.. it's usually 20 to 60% of its maximum rated speaker handling power.. I also found when the charge got loud it started to have a lot of trouble.. The question is are you willing to pay $150 more? Anyways that's my opinion again great video

My opinion is that the xtreme 2 is not worth it, had it but the sound does not impress when you first listen a song, sold it on eBay and bought the party box 100, for 260€, and that my friend is a jbl Bluetooth speaker with an amazing sound and bass, of course is not waterproof and very portable like the xtreme 2 but the sound is great.

charge 4 is more worth it , $150 less , smaller , easier to bring around , and it’s only 10 watts less even tho the size is a big different

Watching this video with my Xtreme 2,I can hear the difference in the sound quality, the bass in the Xtreme 2 is more better than the Charge 4, but I won't deny the Charge 4 sounds more crispier than the Xtreme 2, well I would go for the Xtreme 2 because it's bigger and more expensive than the Charge 4 and it sounds like a mini home theater

I bought 2xcharge 4 becouse i thought: It is imposible to have with 1 xtreme2 a stereo sound you have with the 2xcharge 4. Also 2xcharge 4 = 60w. Also you don't need all (xtreme2)power always. I mean many times 1xcharge 4 is anought and you are carring smaler piece.. 1 xtreme2 or 2xcharge 4=price.
