JBL XTREME 2 vs SONY SRS XB41 : Sound Battle

I personally prefer the sound of the Sony Srs XB41. I love the design but yeah some tweeters would be nice

I tested the SRSXB41 in a store today, and I couldn't walk away from it. But I won't buy one until I am convinced which one to get that's similar in sound, size & price. So far, the SRSXB41 impresses me.

When it comes to loudness, bigger doesn't always mean better

I have had the JBL Xtreme 1 And the xb41 by Sony😍. The Xtreme 1 gets louder than the Extreme 2🤐 so it's quite obvious the xb41 is going to win in terms of how loud it can get because the xb41 can beat the extreme one , whixh is louder than the xtreme 2. honestly they are both good🖤. Sure the xb41 is louder but the bass is still better on the JBL Xtremes, it just gives you that thump especially at higher volumes even though the Hertz are high on a JBL. the battery is fairly better on the xb41 and the lights grow on you and you start to forget about the passive radiators on the extreme when you have the lights on the xb41💪🏾 . overall both of these are good speakers. here are the pros and cons of both Xb41 41 is louder. Xb41 has 3 sound settings and they are not gimmicks. Xb41 has somewhat customisable lights. The xb41 is lighter. The xb41 has better battery life, the xb41 fits better in bags etc. The xb41 is very rugged, waterproof,dust proof and rust proof, oh and it's more slender, so you can place it upright in bags, also it floats I think. The cons are few but they exist , the xb41 can't reach as high pitch sometimes, the xb41 starts to loose bass the higher the volume. The xb41 has no carrying strap , but it's easy to hold , oh and the app for the speaker, sucks, but it works .. JBL xtremes Jbl xtremes look amazing. They look like they pack a punch and the bass gets you every single time even after years of using it. Jbl has beautiful passive radiators, the jbl2 is waterproof and they are both rugged speakers. The jbls have very underestimated carrying straps, although the jbl xtreme1 strap holders can break after a year or so. And it's awkward to hold with no strap. The jbl connect plus feature works very well, it's amazing, Sony's one sucks. But when it works the lights synchronize. The JBL is heavier The jbl has a very big con in my opinion, which is the fact that it clips at higher volume, therefore you must turn it down 1 to 4 stops depending on how much bass is in the song, this means you are not getting as loud as promised. The jbl battery is not as good as sony. The jbl passive radiators can be damaged by sharp objects, but it's not a big deal, the jbl xtremes passive radiators hit things in your bag sometimes, causing unpleasant noises and you have to re organise everything, without the strap they are hard to hold, the jbls can't charge through normal phone wires, it must be their own charger. Oh and it takes slightly longer to turn on and connect but most of us don't care I would be 100 percent fine with jbl or sony. Just sony is a more well known and trusted company, it just feels of higher quality and more reliable. Although I got to give the bass lovers the jbl. Personally I think JBL fucked up on the X2, the X1 is still amazing, stood the test of time, I just feel like the X2 is too expensive for a little more bass, less loudness, connect plus, and slightly more rugged and waterproof, with a better strap. X1 vs xb41, if you want only 1 speaker🤜🏽🤛🏽 Otherwise get many xtreme 2s. If you read this I hope it helped. You won't be disappointed with anyone of these🔥, just don't be biast. Oh and if you are wondering why to listen to me, I took these speakers out for 10 hours a day, doing flips in the busy city centre almost every day. And I still do💯

From 4:55 til 5:22, I can hear 2 or 3 more musical instruments from Sony.. than in JBL. I'm buying the XB41.

Brand new, I've never seen the jbl extreme 2 under 299 dollars. Sony goes on sale constantly, i got 2 xb41 at best buy a couple months ago for 139 each. They sound pretty good in person and paired together are great! As of today they are going for 124 dollars at best buy. You can't go wrong at that price

It's literally a preference thing their both in the same ballpark but one thing sony is louder has more features it's a better looking speaker and it retails 50 bucks cheaper all that combined gives sony a solid win by default

I love both. I'd say if you prefer sound quality, and portability, choose extreme 2, but if you want a cooler looking design, and a louder one, xb41. I'm my opinion is choose the extreme2 because1, it has more bass, and 2, I'm always taking my speakers places, and the extreme has a handy carrying strap. If youre staying around the house id choose xb41.

xb41 is a better rounded speaker.. plus u can change settings with its equalizer to have even more base mids and treble

In my country XTREME 2 is around 311 euro. The XB41 is around 134 euro. Should I go with the Sony? More than double the money for the JBL...

Xtreme 2 sounds quite better than the XB41, that is clear. It runs with 2 tweeters that put it a step ahead about the frequency response, expecially in the high frequency range. I read lots of comments that said the same things, but nobody take into account the main point: the price. JBL costs almost double the Sony, according to the latest offers on Amazon. That makes the (big) difference and, in my own opinion, it leads XB41 to be above Xtreme2.

The Sony also has that thing where you can use the speaker as drums by hitting the sides... lol

On JBL - I like the camouflage skin + straps feature + tweeters. I don't like the open radiators + only AC charge. On Sony - I like the light feature + protective mesh all around the speaker + 5V DC charger. I wish to have straps, different skins, bigger radiators and mostly tweeters.

Sony is louder, but it sounds like recorded on a Phone camera, jbl's sound is much cleaner and better

when i compared them in real life the xb41 had nice bass and treble(because i used a high quality sound file and sony's audio remastering called clearaudio+) and the JBL sounded extremely flat and muffled no matter how i set up the sound(only the bass was always different)

In the past, I used JBL L26 decade. It was a great sound. But now they have lost their old glory.

I cant believe that my preordered The extreme to over a month ago now and it Just now shipped yesterday and my XB30 was stolen at work earlier this week so I went ahead and jumped and found in XB41 on a sweet deal both of them are going to get here next week!!! Sony has deeper sound and good mids but sound a bit muffled and sometimes the bass takes over some of the music in top of that the bass is not very clear and a bit muffled too soo a bit dissapointed:( Jbl has clearer sound and bass but the sound in higher volumes is a little bit harsh (but some of the problems were kinda solved with the filmware update) Conclussion : If u want a speaker to hear more instrumental sounds in lower volume pick the sony but if u want to hear dubstep or this kind of music which has a lot of bass then pick Jbl but becareful not to put the volume too high ;)

Turn on low frequency mode/distortion mode and the xtreme 2 will go alot lower in bass/hrz

EVERYONE FORGETS THAT JBL HAS LFM/LOW FREQUENCY MODE BY HOLDING THE BLUETOOTH AND MINUS VOLUME

Both speaker won on their own ways.. I own both of this and soon I will buy JBL Extreme 2 and HK Onyx Studio 5. I just can't stop myself from all this things, they are great! Portable bluetooth speaker is such a great device..

Short answer: Xtreme has better and cleaner bass even without lq mode, but XB41 is louder.

Had a UE megaboom (under warranty) that died on me. Went to Best Buy to grab another one. I stumbled upon the XB41 and it’s and upgraded from the UE in my opinion. It’s loud and the lights are fun and I got $74! Back. Win win.

My goodness! I tested the sony xb41 twice this week! Tried the equalizer on the music center and equalizer on my music player. I really wanted it, but man! It just sounds off! I couldn't get it to sound right. What a disappointment. :(

Standard mode JBL is better, but using the different modes/equalizer Sony is better. Taking price into account, there is no doubt Sony wins.

With the 1.6 update the xtreme 2 is much better

Sony mids are better by far but xtreme2 highs are better without eq. Since Sony started the XB line (and they truely mean the name extra bass), they concentrate on bass and mids only not highs by default and this won't change by time but on the other hand it gives good response to eq if you want to increase the highs. I like Sony's overall sound (Extra bass mode) over the Xtreme2

Remember jbl fans, all JBL speakers have HQ settings, (modes in order) normal, low frequency, mid-range enhancer, then bass reducer. Change the modes by holding down volume up and play\pause for 10 seconds Check it out!!!!

download the right app and the Sony sounds incredibly good! Nice clean base and crisp highs. I have the xb31 and it's a fantastic speaker. The right settings and it is quite loud too for it's size. Love it!

Well. Both are great. But besides better highs on JBL, I believe sony wins. It has better dynamic sound response cause their mids. In some samples (like the first one at 100% volume test) we lost a lot of the music in JBL. I mean, we barely listen to electronic keyboard line on xtreme 2. JBL has a more affordable sound. But sony has more fidelity. Except on highs.

I have a sony xb41 and the bass on extra bass mode is the same if not worse then standard. I prefer live sound for any type of music you prefer to listen to. Its perfect both on treble and bass. Over all i eould prefer the xb41 because its much more durable . Come with easy nfc connect simply by placing your phone on the top of the speaker it connects in seconds you dont even have to go through the hassle of turning on bluetooth if its off.

For me battery is my priority. So xb41....

Sony Live Sound is better and louder

If you hold the - volume and bluetooth buttons at the same time For 10 secs it goes in to mode which is way louder it drops a bit of bass and the volume goes up. When you power the speaker off it goes back to normal mode but you should test it out it really would be cool

Sony is louder than jbl but jbl has way better sound quality than Sony and the jbl has way more bass!

Wrong, the xtreme 2 hit deeper and richer bass while the sony had the wierd "too low" frequency or too much power sound.

the sony SRS xb41 does not have two tweeters; there only wide-range speakers and 58 mm speakers 6:55 characteristics have changed

Treble on the JBL Extreme 2 sounded a little too prominent and the audio didn't sound as clear as the SONY SRS to me, not sure... I guess it's just different with everyone. Some people said the exact opposite about the JBL Extreme 2.

Considering price difference, Sony wins the battle.

Sony better, because the extra bass mode increases the low tones, so when the speaker plays at 30%, you can hear more low tones than the others, but you can hear nice bass, which is not JBL when you give louder bass in JBL increases. In Sony music center I set bass: +10, mids: +3, treble: +10 and I think Sony sounds perfect. The louder you give the more high and medium tones can be heard. That is why I always listen in extra bass mode because I hear strong bass when listening quietly

I preferred clear sound and deep bass, in low and high volume. And Sony SRS XB41 can give that requirements plus others features that others speakers don't have 😁✌️

My friend also has xb41 like me I bought my about a week ago and he had his for about 6 months and his xb41 has more bass. So my theory is that after long use the radiators gets looser and produce more bass

When you change from XTREME to XB41 is like a blanket has been removed over the speaker! I think SONY is a clear winner here.

ic your device support LDAC, connect with LDAC to XB41 and setting with 88.1hz and 32 bit enabled in developer mode...(eg. note 9) the sound so much better.
