Yes, wiling away the hours on a serene beach seems ideal. My plans .. seem to be what you say.. things keep trying to derail them.. and then I keep going trying to have that sense of okay now is the right time. Truth is...the things that are detracting from my plan are starting to dominate. Not far away I hope.. JC.. look forward to sharing a beer.
yes I reminder ko samui before the airport.It was very quiet and beautiful.You could drive around the island with very little traffic.I went back there 3 years ago and just hate it .Too much traffic and too many of everything.
Comfortably your best vid so far, JC - and it hit me at the right moment - the moment of doubt, evaporated all that just seeing you at my own favourite type setting, at the beach - with that relaxing feeling all over the place - wow, talk about your right place, right time, right moment experience - looking forward to part two......safe travels......
One minor point that may save some people a little grief. You mentioned Happy Air flies into Chumpon Airport five times a week. If I'm not mistaken, Happy Air and it's mighty fleet of one Saab turboprop has ceased operations as of February. Nok Air flies twice a day from BKK for under US$100 round trip. Another fine video, JC, and I hope it won't be too long before I can buy you a Bee-ya Singh as we watch the sun set over a tropical beach.
Many things you say after 18min in this video I feel many people should listen to, me included. We allways forget to live, only to struggle through our working lifes in order to get a better otium, if any...
Hello JC, another fantastic installment in the great stuff you do here! Although I passed through Chumphon a few times in my travels in Thailand, I never was there long enough to really poke around. That is a very tempting area; love the fact that they've got the Lotus, the Big C, the old style shopping mall, the fresh markets... so nice! Wow... sure appreciate what you do here, my friend! That was a bonus, too, you sharing great wisdom on life, too... I wish you, and yours, all of the very best. We will indeed look you up when we get over there which we're tentatively shooting for Dec of this year, or maybe early the following year. Sawadee krap.... Brent
Hi JC. I have been throwing away and donating tons of stuff, trying to make it over there with 3 suitcases and it's still not easy. But I'm getting there. JC, this was an absolutely FANTASTIC video! I totally agree with your philosophy on life. It made me think of a friend of mine who worked all his life and retired in Dec., 2014, only to die April, 2015,( Terrible). Your reflection on your past and your present, makes me want to get there even sooner than we've planned. As you were talking, I was visualizing myself there at that beautiful beach and looking up at the blue sky and puffy white clouds. Can't wait to see the next video on Chumphon. JC, you know how to make a person dream. Keep up the great work!!

Very nice! A singer/musician I know once put out a either/or for her fans to choose an album title and she discarded one due to a "typo". I suggested that she keep it simply because it works--Everyhere that I am, is home. ;)
Dear JC, This was a lovely video. I just sat back and enjoyed. Something I always wonder about is transportation. No way do I want to drive in Bangkok where our Daughter's family live (Lat Phrao) - the traffic is crazy busy. But Chumphon looks more like a place that I'd drive. Motorcycle??? Probably not, but I still have my endorsement on my license from 40 years ago !!! LOL Thank you again JC for sharing yourself with us.

Hi JC great to see you in my second home Chumphon. I have seen many changes in the last 10 years but it still holds that back water charm. Great speech at the end just wish I had your outlook I nearly moved (full time) to Chumphon this time last year but I chickened out. Thanks again JC

I haven't been there yet but have had Thais that were from there say there was really nothing there so it hit lower on my list. But I will make my way there eventually.
ok well , they could well be right , met an Aussie guy who lived there for a while say it was a nice place and very cheap ... perhaps its more cheap than nice .

I am really enjoying this video set. I am going to start my RIP life in Cha Am later this year, but I may may move South. However, I do want to be able to meet up with other ExPats every few days. I want to be part of groups, clubs, etc. to some extent. So my question is, " did you see and talk to any other Expats in Chumpon? Again, great video duo. Thanks!

Huevonious Maximus My goal is to help those on a limited fixed income who otherwise would have a rough time making ends meet and enjoying their retirement years. I just try to show how to get "More Life for Less Money". I try to dissuade my demographics from spending too much time and money on night life, clubs, sports bars, beer bars and avoid short stay vacation places. Sorry. But I am sure there are plenty of other RU-vid channels with that type of information for you.

Traveler I've been to Koh Chang a few times, and Trat or Chantaburi look like a possible alternative or maybe even Rayong. JC did an excellent series on Koh Chang but it is a tourist destination, and as such is going to be more expensive in most areas of the 'ripper' lifestyle. One big advantage for a ripper on Koh Chang is a friendly bunch of ex-pats.

She's in the medical field and works at one of the local hospitals. Question : Will you be doing a video on Songkhla, Thailand? I understand there are very few foreigners living in that city. Again, thanks for your very informative and interesting videos.
Larry Fournillier The deep south of Thailand is way too hot and violent for me. I thought it was a given to stay away so I don't even mention it as one of my "no-fly zones"!
Travis Bradley This is where the Muslim extremists are constantly setting off bombs killing innocent people like teachers. Just Google the words " Songkhla, Thailand violence" and read about what goes on there. And remember you are only 7 degrees above the equator so the word cool isn't in their vocabulary!
retirecheapjc thanks for the comments, but isn't most of the violence and the red-zones about 100km south of Songkhla, in Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat? Regarding the heat, I'm currently in Trinidad and Tobago which is about 10 degrees North of the equator, so I think my body can easily adjust to South Thailand's heat. :)
nice.. living Pattaya for last 9yrs looking south and Chomphon Marina development with my buddy Sam whom has mega millions on development. Really do not want Americans here keep them in America...too many problem not wanted here. Pattaya good for US Navy during Viet Nam years ago where drunken sailors would spend time from killings and bombings of Asians. No need to expose heaven to these people back in your country...many Thais do not like the way you explain their culture like you can take advantage of the wonderful peaceful people..price price..fuck forget asking and comparing..sure not helpful in exposing a paradise you have no right to tell...let them go through hell first.
