For someone in a wheelchair I recommend Thailand as opposed to Cambodia. Much easier to get around. We even have motorbikes converted so you can drive them around. I will be doing a video about that subject soon.

Personal preference to keep from getting my chest cracked open from eating too much saturated fat. Plus I never really cared for beef except very expensive cuts. The only thing I really miss the taste of is bacon. BLT sandwich... yum!

Nice video, JC! It seems that it's pretty easy to get in contact with people on the streets there. Sounds nice that the cambodian are social. And I'm very glad for the option to stay on business visa there. It make's it so simple to stay there.

I found a writeup of the water and ice do's and don'ts but youtube wont let me post a link. Tap water in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap is heavily chlorinated and while safe, should be avoided. Ice chunks from a large block are potentially dirty but any ice cubes that are "nicely rounded cubes with a hole in it" are made from filtered water.

I would be more hesitant in Cambodia using ice than in Thailand. If the water is being filtered well in the ice houses it would be fine but not sure in Cambodia if that is the case yet.

My camera cannot shoot in low light for one thing and I would have to get approval from a manger or owner of each bar to come in with lights to take videos. The girls might not be too happy either to be shown on video working in the bars. Some families do not know the kind of job the girls have either. I have to respect their privacy as well.

Nice one JC. I think the market vendor was camera fatigued. Too many foreigners filming her. Re: language this might help on YT... Learn Khmer 01: Greetings & Intro...Many words are similar to Thai. Like Khmer Sok Sabai dte is Thai Sabai Dee..how are you. Aw Kun is like KabKhun..thank you..keep 'em coming and take care out there.

Never heard that but they now have a law against older foreign men marrying younger Cambodian women. If the foreigner is over 50 they cannot marry the lady in Cambodia. This was instituted to protect women from human trafficking.

You know, they might be desperate, but in Cambodia and Vietnam I have found them to be the opposite of promiscuous. They have conservative cultures, so if its marraige your looking for then they are great, but what I mean by conservative is, to the core, not just on the surface, the guys wont marry non-virgin women so the women worry about sex before marraige. Now of course as in any country you can find promiscuous ones, but Cambodia and Vietnam are alike in this odd manner so not much luck.

So what information is there actually in this vid that is helpful to people thinking of retiring to Cambodia? apart from the fact that local lady vendors as you call them dont like having a camera shoved in their face when they are working or that the wooden sign at the entrance to the market is very low?

well, in Vietnam they are all over. But yeah, very little masks in Laos or Cambodia and I guess Thailand, I forget by now but Vietnam is addicted to masks. Sometimes they cover up so much from head to toe you cant see a person anymore.

The Cambodians seem to be aware of the need to not spread germs when sick and wear the masks. Something the Thais should become more aware of.

Good for you. I remember I was part of team in 1974 1975 try to stop the Cambodians from massacre the Vietnamese's by cut their head off and threw them in the Mekong river. It was very dark then 1975 Kmer rouge kill more than 200 hundreds of my friends and my girl friend. I escape to Thailand. Just happy to see everything was hell can turn around into paradise. But the history for 500 Hundred years history between Cambodia and Viet nam won t be happy go go as it seems. Sai Gon is Cambodia language . I hope and pray history won't repeat itself. Thanks for sharing the happy times . best of luck. Thanks and honor for those who died defending Cambodia freedom. Otherwise we would not have the peace and enjoy Cambodia.
