should have changed the whole pump instead you short cut and did the soleniod
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 15 дней назад
I did the repair Katie and Rob wanted, they ordered the parts and asked me to do the repair for them. The oil pump repair required complete dissassembly of the engines timing chain system. They opted not to change the pump since there was no problem with the pump even if some on the internet don't agree.

great video Jimmy. I literally LOL'd on the power steering hose. First time James and I really talked, I was sitting in front of my car while he was changing the power steering hose on my 86 Buick. I wish I had kept that hose as a memento. The replacement was made wrong. It looked near perfect, but it was not fitting. It gave us more time there to talk as he worked. He finally realized the part was wrong as his boss was locking the doors. He took me home. That was 2002. Yep, shoulda kept that hose.😃

That jeep turbo 4 makes the pentastar 3.6 sound reliable
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 17 дней назад
Yeah, the 3.6 just needs an oil Cooler now and then at least. Her first issue was a head gasket.

@giggiddy

Katie must be one of the girls up front. She takes good care of that jeep. I'm surprised I read it needed a head gasket already. Is that caused by the turbo you think?
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 16 дней назад
Yeah, she takes very good care of it. The Turbo itself doesn’t cause issues, but the cylinder head design pushed the coolant passage and head bolt clearances a little too far. There are also some issues with bore spacing. Similar to Fords EcoBoost 4 cylinder where they had to change the block design because of head gasket failures. If turbos caused engine failures there would be broken down Semi’s all over the road. Turbo engines have been around for 70 years. Even longer in airplanes, superchargers came from those. ;)

Great video and commentary as always. What people need to remember is. Cheap ain’t good, and good ain’t cheap. While on good ain’t cheap. A shout out to Allegiant Flag company in Charleston SC. They make American flags, made completely sourced and made in the USA. They are not cheap, but they are true GOOD quality. Just like Jimmy’s work product!

Who knew you would jack stands for your lift…😂 Before I quit being a mechanic the shop I worked at in the mid 90’s, had one of those old in ground lifts (lift was circa 1970) where you raised the front ram and rear separately. The controls were on the ground, where anyone could trip over them and move the lift. It was always a struggle to work quick before the rams went down, they bled down at different rates, man I hated that place.
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 17 дней назад
Yeah, I started out back when every lift was hydraulic, single or dual post. Electric lifts weren’t popular yet. ;)
