just received my Pillar switch today and the new versions are coming with the 2 clips. My jeep is 800 miles away on a VERY SLOW train to the US East Coast from Toledo - getting the accessories pulled together now while I can. THX again for the great vids.

Dude installed TODAY after all with the confidence and gotta say and BIG thx for support ,took about 2 hrs ,honestly the hardest part was tracking down a firm wire to pass harness wires thru engine compartment to cab ,I had picked up 7ft plastic sleeves from Habor Freight to pass all wire thru the engine compartment and tuck along with draw ties looks neat compared to hanging wires loose and protection also,thx my man

Dang this is one of the FEW 20 min installs that actually kept my attention 👍, I went to 4 wheel parts and purchased KC C3 spot pair for front and a 20 inch led bar and had planned to cut into panel...but ended up buying the same POD 4 switch and now that you made freaking wiring a WHOLE lots of easier 😂😂😂😮 I'm down to do it myself tomorrow..dude ya put a very good video together and simplistic as F* props ta ya 👏🏻🙀👌

This wasn't such a tough project, of course I already had switches in place and simply moved wires and removed under panel switches. I used someone's idea of heating the blade and it trimmed the panels quickly and fairly straight and refined to fit with my file. I had one blip but it was a non issue. I used another person's idea of running all switch wires to the side panel and I'm ready when I put the windshield light bar on my 16 Wrangler unlimited. Looks professional even though I'm far from it. Thanks for instructions.. (In July 16 it came with all silver clips).

Great video. Just recently found your channel and enjoy watching. Love the idea of making jumpers for the ground and constant for the switches. Saves pulling and stashing a ton of wires. My one question is where do you connect the single constant from the switches. Do you have to connect all 4 relay wires to one? Would love to see the final pic of your 4 relays wired. Mine are a separate with no double “block” as you show. Thanks again for the videos!
@adventuredex

Thanks Steven! Glad you joined team AdventureDex. All switches have a separate replay. I had two double blocks in the engine bay. The constance was run to 1 constant power, in my case the cigarette lighter. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

I find that a Dremel style cutting tool works much better on those plastic cut out issues. Much quicker and a lot more control over the cut lines. Nice video still. I would have been a little bugged about the fit finish on that back edge as well.

Probably should have assigned the top switch for the top roof light, the next switch for the mirror lights and the second to bottom switch for the winch light with the bottom switch for reverse. Makes it easy to switch them on without thinking especially if you need to turn something on or off quickly. It also allows others who drive the jeep to know intuitively which switch does what.

AdventureDex, I enjoy all your videos and have already done some of your upgrades to my JK. Question: How did you run the wires from the interior to the engine compartment it seems almost impossible to get wires across. Thanks Joe
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Joe Velez Thanks a lot for the positive comment! There are firewall plugs which are rubber plugs between the engine compartment and the interior foot wells. You should be able to push the wires through there. If the rubber plug is not big enough you can cut a larger hole in the rubber plug to fit bigger wires. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

great instructions. thank you. I have another question. when doing this install should you install it that you can only turn lights on if your ignition is on or will this cause problems with the vehicles computer. also I found it difficult to install the pod unit. should I shave or cit some of it down?
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Edwin Brea Great questions! First question - Because I hooked my consent power directly up to the battery, I can use the lights whether the ignition is on or off and it will not effect your Jeeps computer system. It is simply using power from the battery while the engine is off. Second question - The pod is a little awkward and does take a lot of patients, if you think you can shave it down then I guess you can but I didn't shave or cut. I just made it work the best I could. Let me know how it goes. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Would you happen to know why only one of my Switch buttons works my bottom switch turns on my two lights on top of my hood my second switch the switch light comes on but nothing comes on on my jeep and the other two don't come on at all I'm thinking my second switch had a bad connection behind the panel because all of my fuses under the hood are good. And the only thing that doesn't come on are my two lights under my grill

@joules400
@joules400 5 лет назад
Heat your utility knife up with a butane torch and it cuts very easy, and then you don't have to file the rough edges down. Heating up the blade made this less time consuming and smoother to put the switches in.

When you were running the final wires from the lights, where did the negatives from the lights go too? And when you ran and looped all your constants, did you run the end constant all the way to the battery or did you loop it into the 12v on one of the switches. Everything else I understood.
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Edward Tucker Thanks for the comment Edward! The negatives can either be grounded on the negative terminal of the battery or any metal ground spot on the body of the Jeep. All the positive looped together and were connected to the positive terminal on the battery. I hope this makes sense! Good luck with your install! Thanks for watching!

can I connect all my grounds, constant hots in my switches even though I presently only on set of lights? and have wires connected on last terminal and tuck away wires for future lights. just to lessen the work for future light installs. what do you think?
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Edwin Brea Good question! Yes, you should pre-wire it all even if you don't have the lights yet. So when you add more lights in the future you don't have to pull everything down again. You can simply connect a few wires which you can hide under the foot well. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! #jeepwave

Great video man, my question is where did you connect the constant power from the switches too? did you tap into the fuse box or does that run straight to the battery? Thanks!
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Noah Bednarek Thanks for the question! If you fast forward to 5:39 in the video, you can see that I am connecting the RED constant power which was loop to all 4 prongs on the switch. This was than ran directly to the battery through an inline fuse . You can run it through the fuse box if you like but that was more work for me. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

How did u get thru the firewall without ruining the seal and how did u link all the hot wires to one single without the chance of burning up?
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
Thanks for the comment John! Typically there is already wires running through the firewall so you can use the existing hole, if not simply cut an X into the firewall and that should help keep its integrity. As for the chance of burning up, it all your connections are done properly and you do not expose your wiring to any elements you should be fine. Hope that helps! thanks for watching!

Hey Dex quick question: are your two yellows and two whites connected on the relay holder? Mine have one yellow/white on each side and was wondering if you simply tucked one wire into the other side, or if you sauntered the yellows and whites together. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Anthony Ramirez Thanks for the comment! I always recommend not to use the code of the wires on the relay as indicators but rather the actual numbers written on the relay holder itself. There will be numbers such as 85 86 30 and they all coordinate with a functionality of the relay. You should check out my video on how to wire a relay to learn what each number means this way you can ignore the color of the wires and use the numbers. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!

So you have a separate wiring harnesses for each light bar right? And just cut off the switch that comes with it to plug in to your RR pod?
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Melissa Borstad Thanks for the comment and questions! Exactly, you could get a wiring harness for each light bar so that they would all have a fuse and a relay. Then you could cut off the switch (but keep in mind the switch might have 3 wires you will need to test them to find out which is the positive and negative) the switch wire connects to the switch on your RR pod. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

That fit on the pillar was a bit crappy @ 18:30 - do you think that the plastic was malformed or it just doesn't fit right? Looking at wiring block optins under the hood (SPOD, The Waterproof Relay Box on FaceBook, etc) but I really don't want it to look like aftermarket or a hack. Were you able to align that switch cover any better so as not to see frame by the window? Is it an adjustment or it just fits like that? Thanks for the videos - super helpful and interesting. Anxiously awaiting a 2017 JKU in the same color scheme as you - a man with good taste.

Hey AdventureDex, I recently purchased a 52" light bar with 2 3in spots and an A pillar rocker switch panel. The lights already come with a wiring harness that is wired to a button switch, but I was planning on wiring the lights to the A pillar switch. Meant, not to have constant power for the leds would rather run off acc so there's not a constant draw. Can I put red to battery to an acc fuse instead or no?

You do not need consent power for the LEDs to work. The consent power is the light on the switch. Hope that helps!

Hey AdventureDex, I was wondering if you know any websites that sell good quality/cheap neon led light strips for the jeeps underbody? thanks
@adventuredex

+Jamie T Hi Jamie! Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately, I can't really recommend one over the other because I haven't had an experience with underbody led lights yet. I do plan on getting some when am lifted but for now I recommend you check out this list and read through the reviews. amzn.to/1KjDwP9 I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!

+Jamie T No problem at all! Am here to help. I always like using amazon when searching for Jeep parts and the reason is that I can read all the reviews to ensure it will fit and see what kind of quality the product is. The 2pc LED interior starter kit is a good buy. amzn.to/1V3i2jR This is a great kit because u can always add more tubes in the future! I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

I am going to put on 3 KC lights, can i use one relay for every light so each light will have its own switch?
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 6 лет назад
You need a relay for each switch. Unless you use all the light on the same switch. Hope that helps!

Why do you need to use relays at all why not just wire the lights directly to the switches? Im confused
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 4 года назад
The switch won’t work properly without the relay. The relay allows the on and off motion, the switch itself is only the mechanism. Hope that makes sense.
@SuperKiller177

@AdventureDex i need help with the wiring. I connected my lights to the battery and they turn on, but i can't figure out how to wire it into the interior to connect it to my switch pod!!!! please help asap as the hood of my jeep is opened waiting to connect it
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 7 лет назад
Thanks for the comment Raffi, to connect your interior lights to your switch pod you need to get the positive and negative wires from your interior lights and connect them to the 2 prongs on the back of the switch. Assuming you already wired each switch with constant and ground. You shouldnt have any problems. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 7 лет назад
I just reread your question and are you asking how to get the wire from the engine bay into the interior? If so, there is a firewall plug that is located on both the driver and passenger sides in the footwell. If you use a flashlight and look up, you will see a black rubber round grommet with wires already running through it. You can use that to safely get wires in and out. Thanks!
@albdrs
@albdrs 7 лет назад
+AdventureDex I really can't find it, and in the video it doesn't really show how your bring the wires to the interior of the car. I'm really a big fan and I press the like button on all your videos. Can you please take a couple of minutes to make a video showing me how to bring wires from outside to in. You can send it to my email if you'd like: Raffi.zandi@gmail.com

where did you run the wires threw on the firewall.
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
+Todd Jackson Good question Todd! There is a rubber grommet in the firewall that is used to run wires between the engine bay and the interior compartment. You just gotta use a flash light and all find it. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

What side driver side?
@adventuredex

WOW rugged ridge dropped the ball on that cut out crap. Why would they send a piece out like that? would take them less than a minute to cut those out Watching more why aren't those wire harnesses pre made? You had to do all those by hand. Underwhelmed so far with this product.
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 8 лет назад
Thanks for the comment Ward, I would say that this is one of the more difficult installations I have done. It does take some background knowledge of wiring but I am sure you could tackle it. I agree that the cut outs should of been much better but I guess they kinda left it as a DIY. You could buy your own wiring harness, I just decided not to for this project. Thanks for watching!

This is completely fucked up install.. and its not safe at all. So here how it goes. I have led bar, pods and backup lights. Each of them have separate wiring harness and relay fuses of course and ran directly through +,- of the battery. What i did is just cut all of the switches inside the jeep and connect through the pod switch. Clean install via firewall all the way to the pillar. So if any fuse busted just in case, you are not ruining the whole system..
@adventuredex
@adventuredex 7 лет назад
Thanks for the comment, each switch has its own fuse and relay connected to the light. The switch pod acts exactly the same as a normal switch its just a centralized location.
