Just found your channel, and I must say, THIS is my kind of vehicle review. Mechanic of 37 years and just love what you're doing, subscribed and thumbs up!!! Hope your channel grows!
Absolutely love these reviews that focus on all the important bits and not the typical "number of cupholders" that the vehicle has. I must say that the quality and assembly of this thing is way too janky and complicated. In no way does it inspire much confidence in terms of reliability and long term longevity. As always, excellent work!
Wow, I’m totally unimpressed! I thought these were really nice when they came out…But after seeing what’s underneath, I can confidently say that they made Jeeps better 20 years ago. The drain plug locations alone show the complete lack of engineering and planning. I really enjoy the toothbrush commentary, very funny!
don't worry about the frame rusting out at the back because this thing won't last long enough for this to happen it will probably start to fall apart after 4 years.
...start and finish in about 24 years. But most of these buyers bail after the warranty is up, so who cares these days. Just make sure the touch screen works.
Great video! Just reminds me why I don't want a new vehicle, (never a Chrysler product either) especially the last thing you mentioned about stuffing twin turbos and more piping in a 4 and 6 cylinders!
Awesome review. Too bad this rolling turd had a boat load of issues. Already replaced a failed brake booster and master cylinder, which had less than 1000 miles on the meter. Our shop already replaced the entire harness from front to back on 2 of them that had electrical issues. We found a few wires that had lost continuity where part of the harness splits off, probably stress from stretching then snapping off. These had less than 2k miles on them.
The brakes! Yes, the brakes! I work for a rental car company so I get to drive a wide variety of vehicles including the Wagoneer and you nailed the brakes...they're not confidence inspiring at all. Edit: And that engine does not like cold weather from what I can tell. I got in one today that got a good cd soak in 10°F temps overnight and it was not happy. Took a few minutes to smooth out and quiet down a bit
"Stupid design" you say. It is indeed true! By working as a consultant for big companies in automotive, medtech etc industries I can only observe & confirm an increase of stupid designs, unfortunately. One of the reason is outsourcing. And I dont mean outsourcing of the machinery production or software, I mean outsourcing of the design engineering. Many engineers (mechanical, thermal, structural etc) in those, typically 3rd world/developing countries are underpaid, overloaded, not experienced and not motivated. Most of them are unlikely to even own such vehicle. Thus, the design suffers. But, contrary to these designs the consumers aren't stupid and thanks to your great reviews some automakers rushing with such crappy or/and unserviceable designs will disappear.
@@speedkar99 I'm a member in this small online forum called TeamBHP, we'd really appreciate these non-cupholder reviews. Promise to send as many of our brothers T-shirts as may be required 😜
@@jahmanborneo1343 I know, just frustrated at all those cupholder reviews by sellout auto-journos... Being a developing country, we need people who can uncover the important parts of the car and put things into perspective based on the Indian car scene and how car makers cut costs due to a complete lack of awareness among gullible people and poor govt regulations.
The one time a domestic automaker puts a factory drain plug in the transmission pan, and they put it in a plastic one over top the exhaust pipe. Just blows my mind!
@@speedkar99 no really, I love it. No cap. Some guys try to polish up a turd to make things look better than they really are. I appreciate the honesty.
@speedkar99 over all for regular city and highway driving will this be reliable with the hemi v8 etorque? Because I'm actually going tomorrow to the dealer to look at it .. would like to hear your opinion as a mechanic. Thanks
Its my first time hearing about active vibration dampers. How do those work, what signal does it use to know the speed it needs to turn at or are they pre set to a certain frequency.
Thanks for the video. Needing a screwdriver just to change the air-filter, bunch of things hanging loose, would be "rust bucket" in snowy places from salt, don't see very thoughtful design overall.
Reminds me of a Navigator, pretty on the inside and out. But just the basics when it comes to engine and body mechanics design. Nothing like the German and Japanese luxury cars. Cadillac does the same kinda builds, no aerodynamics underneath, exposed electronics underneath, no heat shielding for the exhaust, the list goes on. Basically, most American luxury cars are just dolled up lesser class of vehicles from their sister companies. And not truly engineered from the ground up like other foreign car companies do, to separate their class of vehicles. IMO
Love the content man. This exactly what i come to look at info and leisure. If you ever take a look the new Subaru Ascent id love to know your take on it. Looking into 3 row SUVs. But great stuff man!
They should have put a hemi bigger than the 5.7. But they were thinking about fuel economy with the MDS system and know the straight six is coming. Mercedes has a straight six in their top end SUV that is doing the same things they are trying with the Wagoneer.
The Alfa based Grand Cherokee is definitely a more interesting, well-engineered design, compared to this- with a lot more aluminum in the construction to boot.
I love your channel! I have a question fer ya...I'd like to buy a Subaru Impreza, maybe the Impreza WRX 2002-2004 (the one with the eyes pointed inwards...I love that look) What's your take, yea or nea?
@@speedkar99 Most have been thrashed, and or modified and blown up. It also doesn't help that the engine is a little bit more needy then say a Civic SI.
@@speedkar99 I know how to pick'm. I'm the kind of guy that would own an Alfa. Ya, it may be junk, but they drive so beautifully and are so damn gorgeous. I think I need professional help. Thanks for the response!
I purchased the Series 2 Wagoneer. I am satisfied with my Truck. It's peppy, stylish and has plenty of room for the family. Also it was more cost-effective over the competition. PS Don't let It's size fool you. The 5.7 has great power and passing ability. Ask the driver who was trying to muscle in on the right. He looked real silly and had to get in line like he should have....
The 5.7 wasn't slow. It was adequate for the size of the vehicle. I wouldn't call it cost effective for a family... Unless you need that towing capability. Same goes for suburban, Tahoe or expedition.
@@speedkar99 Well I must ask. Do you own a Wagoneer? Also I gave praise to Mopar for the 5.7's power. Furthermore you're comparing the Wagoneer to the Tahoe and Expedition. They are in a different class. You might want to compare it to the Navigator or the Escalade. If you can buy either of these SUV's with 1. Leather 2. Sunroof 3. Alpine system 4. Running boards 5. Tow package ETC. For under $75,000. You may want to make that purchase. I'd love to see that. Thanks for sharing...
excellent review Kar!! My money (someone else's money) would be on a Seqouia. that carry over exhaust pipe was definitely a flaw that was on purpose. probably don't want any dyer doing any tranny services on that ZF tranny "filter in pan" design😮💨. also, it maliciously extends the labor hours for the dealer to do the tranny service. hey that the car business. again, very decent review👌
@@speedkar99 it would be great to see the current model or even the 2019 model compared to the new. I’m assuming the new will be a cross between the Durango and the new grand Cherokees
2-Pot front brakes on a 6000lb heep sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen, especially when you consider most passenger cars half its weight have 4-pots on the front.
@@speedkar99 You sure that's not just a front axle disconnect? Many 4x4s have a sliding collar that disconnects one of the front drive shafts so that the front ring gear and drive shaft do not spin when in 2wd (like manual locking hubs) to save fuel. Generally, an actual diff locker mechanism is located much closer to the ring gear
These days this kind of 4x4 are just fashion statements. The owners who do try to do serious off road will be calling to rescued or pulled out by real 4x4s, which are very few today. On that Wagoneer the exhaust pipe so close to the plastic trans-pan without even a heatshield will be sure to cause failures.
@@speedkar99nope, transmission is from zf. Solid transmission. Underbody was already in the works on 06-07 prior to fiat. So cerberus/benz play. Little part here but mpstly chrysler original. That hemi is a knock off of the 5.9 and 5.2 magnum engines. The magnum engines whil they had minor intake leaks they were great.
Or that one guy who thinks a Subaru is too girly, but gets afraid to take his $60,000 baby in the snow. Then gets pissed off when a Forester passes them on the mountain pass.
That transmission fluid pan is a good way to make a person buy another vehicles when the transmission itself goes kaputt. Let's face it: an average person will not bother to change the transmission fluid with that setup 😒
Trust me lol. I went though 2 Mugen lips in 1 year. I never knew they still make active lips, Did you know they had these in 80s 90s Skyline R31 GTS. They should have kept this idea going for us Canadian drivers lol
