Hi. Well done short, but informative video. Thank you for sharing! I like your staggered hinge method and the way you cut for clearance for folding the platform. Speaking of 'clearance, I do have a question that seems to be left out of most, if not all. the RU-vid videos on the Jeep WJ DYI platform mods. Because the rear side sections in your video look to me like a very tight fit. I am wondering if there is enough clearance to tip the platform up enough to get the Spare Tire out and the flat tire in after changing the flat?
Yes, there is room when the platform is slightly lifted. The 2x7 boards holding up the platform are outside of the spare tire cover. The spare tire cover pops off easy. The platform lifts but I should carry some type of prop to hold it up. I still keep the tire iron and jack under the rear seat. One slight modification would be to shorten the overall length by no more than 2". This would allow me to drive the vehicle with the platform down. I'll try to do another video after any mods I make to the platform.

On my 03' WJ, only the screw-jack's 'crank handle' and tire iron, are stowed under rear seat on the passenger side and the jack itself is secured under the full-size spare and all those are in the stock OEM configuration. Also, I am not sure what you meant by; ..." drive the vehicle with the platform down." Why is it so that you don't(?) drive with the platform down? Could you please tell us what you mean, on that?
I don't drive with the platform down because the front seats are all the way forward and seat backs all the way upright. It is extremely cramped and probably unsafe to drive. If make the bed/platform 2" shorter, I would probably be ok.
I don't know. I took them out long ago as it is just the wife and I with no other passengers. Flip yours up and see if they sit about 7" above the rest of the back floor.
Well, without going out to measure it, the platform is probably a total of 8" off the floor. So subtract that from the total height. I would think it would be close to 3'.
