I have owned my Jeep about 2 years, and have replaced the oil pressure sensor 3 times. This was the 4th time, and I finally found out what the issue was! You're welcome!
I recently had my oil changed to go on a trip. A couple times I would get a beep like the gas was low or something and it would kick off my cruise control. Then on my trip back home the check engine light came on but all my gauges seemed fine. When I ran the codes it came back with P06DE (Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit Stuck On), I think maybe it said in high pressure mode. It seems to run a little high (75-95) at first and then bounces around jumping up and down 10-20 psi for a few minutes, before eventually settling into a normal range (30-60). I reset the light and it hasn’t come back on the past couple times I’ve driven it. Do think it may be a similar issue with the wiring to my sensor or something else with the actual pump? (Btw: Before the trip I had my oil changed at Walmart because I was in a rush and thought it best to change it before making a long drive. For peace of mind at least, I won’t be doing that again even if it wasn’t an issue they caused.)
Hello! It could be a lot of things. It does seem like wiring may be a culprit in your case as well, although it’s hard to diagnose issues without seeing the vehicle. This took me 3 tries to figure out! Definitely be careful about who you let do an oil change on these things. The oil filter housing is plastic, and is known to crack during oil changes! (Unless you’ve replaced it with the aluminum housing like so many have)
Your can replace the housing with an aluminum on. My sensor went out at 106000 on my 2012. My shop strongly recommended replacing the housing with an aluminum one so I had them do it.
Same thing happened to me around a year ago. Got the oil changed at a Jeep dealership and first time out on the interstate at speed for a bit, engine light popped up out of nowhere with P06DE reading. I took it back to the dealer, they fit a new oil filter on, cleared the code and it was good for almost a year. A few weeks ago, went in for another oil change (first since the last incident) and sure enough, first time I took it on the road at speed for a bit the engine light popped back on throwing the same code. Took it back to the dealer, they cleared the code and got an appointment to bring it back in to take a look at it. In that time (about a month), the engine light came on and cleared itself 4 times, each throwing the P06DE. They told me that it was diagnosed as needed a new oil pressure sensor. I am due to pick it up this afternoon and see what happens. The engine light only comes on when I am driving at higher speeds (60+) without stopping, as in interstate or highway driving. In addition, I live in Colorado so wasn't sure if the altitude had anything to do with it. Two of the engine lights came on while driving in the mountains. I'll take a look at the wiring harness when I get it back.
I’m still having the same issue with my 2012 JK knock sensors. I changed the sensors, the second time I changed the harness and still my code comes on!?!
Dang it! I’d check further upstream on the wiring harness. Maybe that big connector on the left top of the intake. I know I have a ground wire in mine that each time I even touch that connector, it comes loose.
