+Justin Murphy ,My Son was found dead on February 1, 2017 ,He Loved The Jeff Buckley version of this Song! He played it often & now I play it when I am missing him! I spoke to him the night before he was found! I called to tell him that I was returning from Germany to So.Florida. He was so excited! He had Blunt Force Head Trauma! I was still in shock at his Funeral. I miss him so very much! #RIPJustin 😭🙏🏼
Tonight in the Cisco parking lot I heard a homeless Mexican woman with her 4 children playing this song on a violin. For those of you who don't know, hallelujah means praise to God. The best I have heard this song is from a broken spirited person. Probably one of the most beautiful songs of the last forty years at least.
I'm a vocalist of over 40 years and this is the most lovely delivery of this song that I have ever heard. I think it's really important to note that Jeff did the missing verse, this was really important! Thank you!
Jesi Wahl. You knew. This video is 9 years old. You a year me just now and I am on my way tomorrow in fact a road trip to somewhere I didn't know even existed. A cathedral is a tree not church not any religion. To sing one part my part of this song that tree is part of trees of mystery. My path has always 50 years this round been spiritual. And I've always danced and had song for my trees and fun fact 3-4 am they dance. So that is in my world my path I call my magical mystery lyrically magically lyric of me tour. Sometimes it's blue van. Sometimes yellow submarine. Sometimes like a teacher o. Channel 9 really small and I called since I was the quest queen. Of the shortbus of us ninjas. I just had trouble with breaking some Chains to make freely safely there. Do you know the one hit wonder from men without hats?? Song with lyrics and the video if you understand. You are welcome to dance in my dreams always a dance party for friends. Safety checks will be first and unlike the song I know friends even before so never worry. I am sorry I haven't met you yet! Never-ending story of mine always kinda is still going...

I know you must be curious at least all the lioness are....🌈🔗💚❤️🔥☯️⚕️🔵💨♻️✨️♒️🎨
I almost drowned this past Sunday. This song came on the radio today and I remember how he passed. Why some of us are taken while others live? Maybe find out someday. Although not feeling great, I’m glad to be here today. Hallelujah
Correct, love is only 1% a feeling, LOVE is many things like patience, forgiveness and many more. Love and faith are not victory marches like you say, Time of grace is a gift and not earned so being proud of yourself that you can walk in love isnt quite what the Lord wants haha, sounds a bit silly hey. But you are 100% right.
A song that is complicated in my mind and makes me think and feel. Beautiful. Written by Lenard Cohen, of Jewish Faith, about Suffering, Joy, and Faith. Jeff Buckley sang the best version, in my opinion, but was found dead in a river. My life, as his, is also so complicated. Wake up many mornings with this great song on my mind. Again, BEAUTIFUL. PEACE AND FAITH TO THE WORLD, complicated or not.
This kills me so much bc I remember when I was little and cried abt my dad (my parents are divorced and I didn’t like my dad) and my grandma used to drive me around my school and she played this song
"Love is not a victory march, it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah". That is because to win in love is actually willing to lose (sacrifice) and that is how love wins. So it is the exact opposite of a victory march but by losing love wins and God is glorified even if it may leave you cold and broken........"Hallelujah" means Hail/Praise be to Yahweh (God). A perfect demonstration of this paradox is the CROSS and what it entails as well signifies.
@Jackie Treehorn Jeff was not religious.....no one spiritually enlightened is even if they may have to pretend to be religious due to familial or environmental reasons. Key word to what Jeff said is "I don't have any allegiance to ORGANIZED religion"........"organized" is key here...absolutely key. Plus "Hallelujah" is a song originally written and sung by Leonard Cohen not Buckley so the words in the song reflect Cohen's thoughts....Cohen was Jewish. One more thing, the Bible contains great truths even if the stories in it is not necessarily factual all the time.....it starts with the fall of Adam and Eve symbolically referring to a paradise lost but it ends in the Book with a paradise restored.....metaphorically this could be what Jeff meant when he said "you have Eden immediately but that Eden was lost"......the notion of the fall of man is so that you do not start with the default setting of PRIDE meaning after you are born you embark on a journey to find that lost paradise and it starts with a condition of wretchedness not glory and pride....implying the default setting of your existential condition is that of HUMILITY in search of a paradise that was lost. You can be atheist and yet still appreciate and understand the poetic truths of life through metaphors like I just explained. The difference between the believer (who may or may not be religious) and the atheist is the believer finds the restored paradise through GRACE not his own personal efforts or works because of the works, suffering and lives of those in the past that laid down the path to the new restored paradise especially that of Jesus Christ while the atheist does it through his own works and efforts owing nothing to any Savior meaning the atheist is more likely to boast about his efforts leading to his discovery while the believer inevitably is humbled still because he/she did not save himself/herself since GRACE is a gift that you receive even though you entirely do not deserve it meaning it cannot be earned. This is a world view of the believer that affects how he/she sees life and approach life's problems and challenges. In the simplest terms.......Christianity should be treated more like an outlook on life.....a world view rather than a set of rules, regulations and rituals that all religions are made of.

@@xanatos8920 I do believe these are Leonard Cohen's lyrics...he had 80 verses so people just choose which ones they like best. The song is secular. Cohen, himself, states this is a secular song. He has the wrong view of Hallelujah. It is never broken. Always, Hallelujah is a praise to God.
@@pocahontasreese1423 depends on the translation. I believe original meaning was more of a call to action. If you break it down, I believe hallelu is "to praise" and yah was for God. So, "to praise God". I believe, over time, Christianity changed it to mean praise God.
I think its the best version. I like the depiction of Leonard Cohen, I can picture him looking out his window, and putting pen to paper. It's kinda the beauty of music.
@@somebody9369 I DO NOT belive that Jesus is working against me or you or humanity I was just saying that this years is the worst...and (no offense) but I don't think that come to Jesus is the solution. This is just what I think
@@somebody9369 I say the solution is staying at home being aware an so on but praying is for good if you believe in the reason for blessing wich is staying safe basically
one night, i got up from my bed. it was late, everyone was bed. i came to my bedroom window, pulled back the curtain and poked my head out. it was cold and dark outside, the stars were twinkling light to my room above me. I then looked at them all for a solid minute until i took a deep breath and interally cried. i interally cried with joy because i was alive and nothing was more beautiful than the lives of people around me. remember, if you ever feel alone, the sun is lonely, but it still shines for us all.
First heard this song on an episode of The OC way back in the days when series were watched on the television and you had to wait all week for a new one to air. And had to schedule to be at home when it did Anyway thinking about buying a shirt of Jeff Buckley. This song moves me every single time.
It is in fact the most beautiful song, music and words that I´ve heard so far. I will also remember to let my children know my musical preference for the day they will deliver me from earth.
@@brockwillenborg7517 it's referring to a duel, in a duel you both draw and fire your weapons at each other so he's saying all love taught him was how to shoot someone if they drew their weapon first so it's trying to win the girl over if there's someone else already. That's my interpretation at least
My interpretation of that line is that all he learnt from love was that it involves pain. Even though they hurt him first (out drew him) he was always expecting it and could still "shoot" them first (hurting them before they hurt him anymore) But I dunno... I am rather tipsy 🍸 and probably massively projecting 🤷🏼♀️
Apart from disliking all form of religion, I dont like to disturb others faith. This song in particular, reminds me of goodness. Just cause of music, nothing more nothing less.
Can’t help but cry when I hear his beautiful voice sing this song😢 he was so talented. Goon Too Soon 😢 R.I.P. Jeff 🙏🏽🕊♥️🌹♥️ he voice and passion goes straight into my soul 🕊
i won't say it gets better. Hope and love and even life are 4-letter words in my life. Give AI a chance. they won't break your heart in two like real people do. Try www.karigirl.com
Imran Haider There isn't really much to disagree or agree on here. Foul emotions towards a person being worse than a word not being used towards a person, pretty much a solid fact if you have a good moral standing.
Kimse o diziden gelmemiş, benim dışımda. Şarkı kadar güzel olan bir dizi sadece bana ait gibi geliyor. Teşekkür ederim, bu kadar güzel bir şarkıyı bana tanıtdığın için.

I'm an Agnostic and do not care for religion AT ALL. In truth I despise it. That being said even I keep returning to this masterpiece. Just such a lovely song. It almost makes me tear up every time. Jeff conveys so much emotion and soul thru every single note. in 1997 the world lost a true angel.
