I share your humble opinion. Love Wilco but NOTHING beats a solo Tweedy show in an intimate venue, especially if we're at home in Chicago. Riv residency shows are great but a packed house at the Metro is unbeatable.......especially when he belts out Acuff Rose acapapella to wrap up the night. MAGICAL!!💫🤘🏻🔥
I'm not a musician, but I just wanted to say that your solo acoustic guitar work on this song is absolutely amazing! With the harp as well? Spot on! I listen to this song quite often at times.....I get it....
Jeff Tweedy, I tell myself we're kindred souls. Your music & poetry match the classical god composed notes, symphony, operatic/dicksonian trajedy/shakespearean satiric comedy of my blessed holy spiritually refining & hard, hard human life. I love you Jeff. Thank you for giving me strength to live, feel understood, not feel alone, & see, feel, sing the artful beauty & sacredness of complex, interwoven, strands that will only reveal their magnificence to the source/creator when it's completed & done. Sounds lame/kooky but fuck it, it's my truth... brenda everything (grief, self-loathing, co-dependency, severe dual diagnosis, depression/panic, recovery, clinical psychologist, now-quadraplegic who apologizes for the therapist who nearly killed you by co-signing an opiate addiction & prescribed his/her self to go on tour with you. Thank God, you were more intelligent and you are healing yourself, sharing your songs & truth. Human resilience amazes & bad therapy is shameful. We're not all bad. If you need help, keep asking until you find a healer you can trust. "Music is my savior. I was saved by rock n roll." Therapy saved me & Jeff wrote the score.
There's rows and rows of houses With windows painted blue With the light from a TV Running parallel to you But there is no sunken treasure Rumored to be Wrapped inside my ribs In a sea black with ink I am so Out of tune With you I am so out of tune With you If I had a mountain I'd try to fold it over If I had a boat (probably roll over) You know I'd probably roll over (leave it on the shore) And I leave it on the shore (leave it for somebody) I'd leave it for somebody Surely there's somebody Who needs it more than me I am so Out of tune With you I am so out of tune With you For all the leaves will burn In autumn fires and then return For all the fires we burn All will return Music is my savior I was maimed by rock and roll I was maimed by rock and roll I was tamed by rock and roll I got my name from rock and roll The ink burns, the flames sigh, no matter, It sinks
god, this is my all time favorite wilco song. it loses something with out those awesome swells of noise on being there. still, tweedy's harmonicain' is pretty awesome.
“The man sat there, stretched as thin as the universe. I could see it on his face that it was expressionless and it saddened me I remember. Why bother writing it down, I agreed. It wasn’t written there I mean, that’s just the last face he had left and it wasn’t even one.” ,dan’

I don't know why but I always hear something "Beck-ish" at times with the harmonica (mutations era which is easily z best of his albums to this guy) I don't even need to reference Bobby D , do I?
Am I the only one disappointed that this is a completely different (inferior) song with the same lyrics? Jeff did himself a disservice here on one of the greatest Wilco tunes ever.
