I mean considering the depiction of these character is very reminiscent to their Coast-to-Coast incarnstion its no surprise that Brak Show would be canon here
Technically, The Brak Show canon is that the original Space Ghost cartoon is a show that Brak was an actor on, and Space Ghost: Coast To Coast is a show that exists in the canon of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Allow me to clarify! this is not THE ONLY Brak! it's just one ;) ( yes it's the one from our show) the Brak voiced by Andy Merrill is a unique Brak that is technically a villain, but has been stupified from gentrification in the white suburbia ( and one Mighty Thunderclese ) In the original Space Ghost Series Braks were a species that weren't nearly as charming 💁🏻♀️
I wish I was around for the original Cartoon Planet, but damn 2012 to 2014 wasn't bad to be a kid either. Had the revival Cartoon Planet come on after school Friday night and Saturday morning you had DC Nation. So at least two separate generations probably got the reference.
@son-ko1neDidn't know that. It sounds so different now. My comment still stands though that I wish it sounded closer to the C2C show. EDIT: I saw the clip of the real Space Ghost showing up. That's the voice!
The fact that they snuck in references to both Cartoon Planet and The Brak Show is really cool. I forgot how much I missed Brak, especially. The new VA’s for Zorak and Moltar also did a great job, especially the guy they got for Moltar, he was pretty spot-on!
right? did a great job the zorak guy (assuming it's not the same guy) could have probably done better with a little help from the director, and for being on a slower-paced show, because part of Clay's Zorak performance was really drawing out some words and sounds. There's no time for that in what this show appears to be, a quick cheap zero-attention-span cartoon.
Who’d ever guess that these throwaway villains from a dime-a-dozen 60s cartoon would end up so ingrained in animated history. Also love that The Brak Show is apparently canon to this universe thanks to Clarence.
Right? From being a run of the mill 60's cartoon to pretty much paving the way for CN's original shows and even the rise of Toonami and animes popularity in the west.
It's so weird hearing Brak's Cartoon Planet/Adult Swim voice actor have an evil plan. Like, it's a silly plan that's totally in line with how he generally was for those years, but it's still technically evil. Also, props to whoever voiced Zorak, that's a damn good impression. I'd argue it's even enough to make me want a potential Space Ghost Coast to Coast reboot.
Here he seems to have acquired an extra brain cell. It still keeps him in the negative count, but it makes enough of a difference. It was when he started going on about how his mom and Clarence thought he was cool that I thought "Oh yeah. This is the Brak I know."
I love how Jim Conroy makes Zorak sound closer to his original 60’s voice by Don Messick than C. Martin Croker and they even got Andy Merril to reprise Brak again and even had him mention his mom and Clarence as a reference to The Brak Show.
The cartoon planet reference really warms my heart for a guy who religiously caught it on air in the early 2010s. Rest in Peace, C. Martin Croker, your successors did you a great justice here.😊
To be fair: more people remember these 3 than Space Ghost... kind of~ Brak and Zorak had there time way after Coast to Coast went off the air and became kind of icons on CN for a while.
Brak Show and Space Ghost Coast to Coast were aired around the same time I think, and honestly I watched Adult Swim alot but I barely remember Space Ghost, Brak was my childhood back in the day
Zorak sounds more like the Don Messick voice from the 60s show than Clay, but it still sounds pretty good. Clay even did a voice similar to this one on the first season before he eased into the one we know and love
Eric Andre, when he first met Mike Lazzo, said how much he loved SGC2C, and Lazzo said deadpan in response, "Space Ghost is dead to me." Revival not happening unfortunately.
@@benlhyenethehyena9947Both Zorak and Moltar were voiced by C. Martin Croker, who passed in 2016. Zorak's new voice is Jim Conroy while Moltar's is Bernardo DePaula.
@@beastmanreview009 I have my own notes including more animal autobots and a combiner to take on predaking, called Junglebots, with a wolf, tiger, gorilla, rhino, bear, antelope, elephant, hawk
@@beastmanreview009not just that, but all media including before Disney and others before woke ruined it, I am a fan of 80s to 2010 cartoons and would u believe I am from the 90s Theirs only a few I like 12 forever Paranormal park ( only Norma and think logs should be straight) Steven universe (future to me is not canon) And owl house
Man, I just watched Coast to Coast last night for the first time in years. Now this pops up. I gave great memories of going to my grandmother's house and watching Space Ghost and Banana Splits late night. Good times.
You’re a fool if you think he would be disappointed. Mortar and Zorak are already parodies of their original 1966 counterparts. Parodies are literally what they do.
Never watched Jellystone but gotta say they're pretty much paying tribute to Coast to Coast than the original cartoon with how they're acting. And for those who didn't know, Moltar was the first original host of Toonami before Tom.1
Id highly recommend it. This show is what if they took the boomerang channel, merged it with the old cn city bumpers and was made by the creator of chowder
Whoa Brak and zorak I haven’t seen you guys since cartoon planet and I haven’t seen moltar since he host toonami then told Tom he went home to moltor geat to see you guys again
This brought so much joy to me. RIP to C Martin Croker. The voice actors for Zorak and Moltar did a great job trying to match his style. Gotta go watch some old eps of Space Ghost Goast to Coast now.
0:03 i just noticed! zorak has his arms crossed here cause they kept to his limited animation movements. In all of his scenes in this episode he either has his arms crossed or to the side. and do you know why? because each time he moves his arm IT COSTS THE CARTOON NETWORK 42 BUCKS!
Good voice-actor for Zorak and Moltar to replace the late great C. Martin Croker. RIP I'm so used to the traditional limited animation expressed from these guys from their past shows that it seems so surreal to see them fully animated specifically for this scene, you know?
You want surreal? Check out the new season of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It's got the same character models, but the animation budget has got an INSANE boost. It feels like a completely different show.
Is no one not talking about of how Zorak, Brak, and Moltar are doing the John Lennon walk? There were many things I'd imagine them doing in Jellystone, but doing the John Lennon strut wasn't one of them. 😅
I was excited as a kid because you have this childhood belief of mystique and wonder and just flat out imagination so a party is like that is Johnny bravo answering people's phone calls like what are the odds That's awesome." We don't do that shit anymore I guess I feel old lol
I never appreciated Brak and the entire crew of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast when I was a kid, teen and young adult. But now as a 32 year old, I never knew how freaking funny Brak is especially by this clip and rewatching the monkey love song from Cartoon Planet (2012 revival).
For those who may not know, Space Ghost Coast to Coast was the first original cartoon ever featured on the Cartoon Network, before then they just aired reruns of decades old cartoons. Space Ghost Coast to Coast proved to be hugely influential and a lot of what we take for granted now, such as absurdist, cringe humor, Adult Swim, the popularity of anime in the west, or even the success of Seth MacFarlane's various projects and the proliferation of adult oriented animated programs, can all be traced back to that show and the waves it made in the 90's. Glad to see it's legacy celebrated in this show.
So filled with nostalgia seeing these exaggerated versions of villains from Hanna Barbara's Space Hero Series. Especially Brak and Zorak. We've never seen these guys in like, forever!
I love Brak being a big dummy, even when he's a villain. Andy Merrill's voice for him is perfect, to the point that I imagine Brak in non Coast to Coast material to sound like that
