Excellent performance by Jeremy Brett as Maxime De Winter in the adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's work for the television.
A shy young lady company is in Monte Carlo when she meets handsome and wealthy widower Maxim de Winter, whose beautiful wife Rebecca has recently died in a tragic accident at sea. The two fall in love and when Maxim asked her hand, she accepts without hesitation. Yet his happiness is soon diluted. The couple moved to Monderley mansion, home of the Winter, where the new Mrs. de Winter discovers that Rebecca has left a strong impression on everyone in the house.

Jeremy Brett caused me to catch my breath and hold it when he stepped out as Maxim De Winter. I thought he was adorable as Freddy, but as Maxim he's devastatingly handsome.

This is the best version of Rebecca! Love the late Jeremy Brett. I remember watching this on PBS back in the 1980s right after I read the novel.

Jeremy is so unashamedly dashing as Maxim! I think my heart stopped a couple times when the camera zoomed into his face, lol!

The Camera does that a lot, it shows some amazing shots of him in this film like the long one at the beginning which was likely the first time his wife ever saw him.

Thanks for putting these episodes on! I loved this series as a teenager. Anna Massey is the definitive Mrs Danvers. The whole series was so well cast.

@CocoOPNY I see we agree ;) I think a bombón♡(dreamboat) too, is a handsome man with great charisma. And his character Maxim is one of my favorites along with Sherlock. He is a charming Maxim, is perfect :)

I often wonder how Jeremy Brett and Anna Massey felt about acting together -one wonders if some of Mrs Danvers mean looks might not be acting .

People in the theatre act their parts in front of lots of people - it's not the same as the real world - although, i think, it sometimes seems to be better - sigh. . .

I have read in an interview with Jeremy,s son that his dad had recently bought him a motorbike and Jeremys ex wife Anna Massey was very annoyed about this and other than on camera did not speak to him during the making of the film .
