An actually good Elvis Presley film would be great, but it couldn't be like Ray where it tried to do the dude's whole life. Trying to shove a 50-year career into a 2 hour movie feels rushed. If it was just about his rise that'd be awesome. Now, if the acting in it were like Ray, no complaints there. Oddly the biggest problem with making films about iconic people is finding a person who can pull off being that iconic person.

Elvis sucked he was the Justin Beiber of that era, only popular because of his looks

***** Oh, I didn't know he was slated to direct an Elvis biopic. Baz will always be a one-hit wonder for me (that wonder being Moulin Rouge, which I haven't seen in years so it may not even be as good as I remember).

LightStorm33 That's not to say there's no interesting story behind him. Bieber's story was he made RU-vid videos (though that story was apparently interesting enough to spawn two documentaries).

Jeremy, just a word of advice: watch the BROADWAY MUSICAL this movie was based off of. The monologues that you hated so much are actually amazingly done onstage. Also, John Lloyd Young (the guy who played Frankie Valli), WON A TONY for playing the role on Broadway. The show brought me to tears. It's absolutely beautiful.

I can already imagine a Bealtes movie and the amazing trailer music and the music used for the movie as well. Imagine Strawberry fields forever playing in the background as John and Paul light a cannabis up before the studio.

Sadly that won't happen for a long time!! I mean the jersey boys now they are much more less carefree as in terms of legal assets and conflicts, Thats sorta how this movie got made and the broadway musical i mean I'm sure they think its an honor for them but the beatles Co......No. Yoko ono, george h son. You name it, don't use this song, don't use this motive as to how they wrote this song. They love to hide things even if the reason they wrote a song should hurt a person. I think a beatles movie will eventually get made but not any time soon at least when paul m and ringo are still alive

I'm a HUGE Eastwood fan but his last few films (everything after Gran Torino) have a lot to be desired. There's moments I like in them but overall they aren't like the fantastic movies he's done in the past. He's really been on a downward slope lately. This is actually the first Eastwood movie that he's directed since Unforgiven that I don't want to see, have absolutely no interest. I can appreciate the style of film making he's attempting to do. It's a slower paced style to let the story and characters breath, which I can appreciate and he's one of the last directors holding onto this style. But it's not the 70's, 80's or 90's anymore. I think he should change his style slightly to speed up these movies. You can still do good character pieces with interesting stories but you don't have to move the pace along like a snail. I'm still praying he does one last Western. That's basically how his career got started and I hope that's how it ends.

Btw why wouldn't you want to see Unforgiven. It's an amazing film and the best western of the past almost 45 years.
@jwebb4750
@jwebb4750 10 лет назад
So you didn't like unforgiven, yet you want him to make a western? Strange
@cmurphylife
@cmurphylife 10 лет назад
Oh damn, I guess I worded that kind of wrong. I meant I've seen every movie of his since Unforgiven, so not wanting to see Jersey Boys is kind of a big deal for me. Of course I've seen Unforgiven. It's my favorite Western of all-time and in my top 10 movies of all-time, the film is a masterpiece! Unforgiven is when I really became a big fan and started really following his career more closely and over the years have seen most of his movies before Unforgiven. I enjoyed Invictus and didn't mind Hereafter, they aren't terrible movies in general but for an Eastwood film... I think Clint is capable of much better in my opinion.

A big part of the story is the fact that every member of the group has their take on what happened and their experiences, so I think utilizing the fourth wall breaks gives you that necessary look into each person's perspective. I liked this movie a lot

The Four Seasons are actually my favorite old school bands. I got introduced to "Walk Like A Man" from the film "Heart and Souls," which I saw when I was about ten and have loved ever since. And I always loved the song. In fact, my mom would play her old Four Seasons record for me so I could hear it and I have become a fan of their music over the years. I saw the stage musical of Jersey Boys and liked it a lot, so I'm bummed to hear this movie adaptation wasn't better. Still plan to see it, though!

The sad thing about this movie is that it is based on a lifestyle that was stolen from black culture music, this sound was originated from Frankie Lymon. That's why it didn't reach audiences the way it was suppose to reach them. A movie on Little Richard is way more intriguing. As well as the new James Brown Biopic. Music, not all but the core music we know as, pop and rock and roll was black music. Give credit where credit is due. Watch 'Temptations' 'Five Heartbeats' 'Cadillac Records'

Give this man a medal! He's incredibly correct.
@johnr8095
@johnr8095 10 лет назад
If the story is interesting it doesn't matter. Not to say that a movie on James brown wouldn't also be great. But there is so much cross over in pop music its hard to say a lot of its theft. Rock, in the beginning was very basic and the same structure over and over. Same with doo wop. Same with country. So, if someone came out with a song that had a certain structure hundreds of other songs took the same structure. If you look at one of those Fake books musicians that musicians use that have hundreds of songs in them they all have the same chord sequences. So, Frankie Vallie worked n the same genre as Lymon. The same way that when Nirvana hit hundreds of grunge bands who sounded similar popped up on the scene. If the songs weren't good though the four seasons he wouldn't have An audience. Once music makes its way into the public it gives up being black or white.
@johnr8095
@johnr8095 10 лет назад
I'm not really a fan of Frankie Vallie (or Lymon for that matter) but if the story about their life is interesting isn't that the reason you would see the movie? And how many hits did Frankie Vallie have? If he didn't have the goods he wouldn't have sold so many records. You can also give props to Lymon too. Don't see why you couldn't do movies about both.
@johnr8095

i agree with u about the Sam Cooke movie but what i was saying is that b4 this group was frankie lymon was, i am not speaking on race if a white black hispanic or asian has talent then talent will shine i.e. justin timberlake , robin thicke, emimem, tina marie, etc but they paid homage just like i feel like jimi hendrix was influenced by heavy metal rock that wasn't mainstream with blacks but he acknowledged that

This is disappointing. I'm a big Clint Eastwood and Four Seasons fan so I was looking forward to this movie. Oh well. Waiting for Bluray, I guess. The Beatles is one of my favourite bands but there was already a movie made about them called Backbeat. A movie about the early years of John Lennon was also made called Nowhere Boy. I know this genre isn't classified as "Oldies", but how cool would a movie about the Seattle scene back in the late 80s/early 90s be? I don't know how it could be done, but it would just be awesome to see all of those great bands represented on one screen. Also, the soundtrack would probably be the best soundtrack ever.

Best oldies band: I love The Beatles, but they're so timeless that they can't really be considered "oldies". The Rolling Stones never really went away - to many, they're still current. The Who was still churning out classics for most of the '70s. Although they made some fine music in the '70s, I'd have to go with The Beach Boys - they'll be best remembered for their work in the '60s, and as much as albums like Pet Sounds continue to influence musicians and gain new fans today, they captured something specific about the 1960s.
