I have cared for every kind of wound, Gun shot wounds, stabbings, car wrecks, smashed limbs, bone deep decubitus ulcers, illnesses, everything, as a nurse for 38 years. The worst, for me, have been burns. That is why i have never had the courage to work on a burn unit, keeping it real here. Those nurses, technicians and Dr's who do have my respect. They must have severe PTSD. 😔
Burns are my worst fear that poor girl- I wouldnt wish that on anyone- I can even believe some murderers regret their crimes but this is beyond cruel 'the person who did this is not human
I just want to say that it is these folks....the firefighters and emt’s, these folks in thousands of communities across the country that people rely on in emergencies. It is these folks, many of whom volunteer, who can save lives in the moments of crisis or at the very least bring comfort to those who need it. They have limited resources and rarely encounter a situation like this. There are thousands and thousands of these people who work hard and do the best they can in situations they probably only see once in their entire careers. I think these responders all behaved appropriately and respectfully and did the absolute best for Jessica Chambers. The investigators and DA are a completely different story.
Couldn't agree more! Except to broaden that out to across the world, not just the country! An amazing network of selfless, giving and empathic humans 💕
I totally agree with you. The first responders are all traumatized by these horrific horrible acts of violence. My heart goes out to all that responded to the scene and her family.
the pictures dont show anywhere of the level of damage done to thsi poor girl. her internal injuries were much worse than outer injuries. to be severely burned inside the mouth, up the nose, sinus cavity, down the throat, and into the lungs is horrific and unimaginable. those cant be seen in the pics or even by looking at her
It really troubles me that everyone is so concerned about the gum chewing and not the murder trial. He was a nervous wreck and apologized for it. I swear people these days miss the big picture. It’s not about how it annoyed you. It’s about Jessica. You’re are so concerned about him chewing gum but not the monster who set her in fire?
That's stupid. You can be concerned about more than one thing at a time. Commenting on the unprofessionalism of a cop testifying in court while chewing gum doesn't mean they are, therefore, not concerned about Jessica. I can't imagine any law officer in any other jurisdiction do this or get away with it. To use your own argument, don't you think it's disrespectful to Jessica and the gravity of her murder trial to stand there with both her name and chewing gum in your mouth?
I get it looks disrespectful. But I know him. He stills cries about what happened today. He was extremely nervous and forgot he has it in there. He wasn’t trying to disrespect her or the trial.
*cries about Jessica. Not the gum. It’s just frustrating that the people who saved her and comforted her. The last few to see her alive are being criticized for making a mistake in court. Everyone makes mistakes but his was one camera. And that’s all anyone sees on this trial. Instead the trial it self.
so so sad, and hearing the responders get so emotional, it's hard not to cry. Poor baby girl. She's forever and angel. Rest your precious soul Jessica.
This trial happened so long ago and I’m not sure how it ended up on my feed, but I feel the need to watch the whole thing. I’m so sorry for the loss of her life and pray for justice (I haven’t gotten that far). Listening to these first responders testify breaks my heart. Being the wife of a Fire/Medic, he will always have “that” one call that brings him to his needs. I’m not sure these first responders had the resources we do now to deal with witnessing a trauma like this, but I pray that over the years they have been given the opportunity at EMDR. Small towns don’t have the same resources and this would likely be something they have to seek out on their own. There are several comments asking about body cams or why didn’t anyone think to record this with their cell phones. Our Fire personnel and paramedics do not have body cams, but law enforcement does. Again...I haven’t gotten very far yet to hear from the law enforcement side of things, but the firefighters and medics first priority is to try to save the patient, always. It would never cross my husband’s mind to pull out his phone and record. In fact, he could lose his job for that. After the crime scene is released by law enforcement, someone from the department with department issued technology will take pictures or videos for their debrief and training. They (should) come together after all big runs like this to discuss, train, and assess what could be done better in the future. I do not believe for a second that these first responders failed her based on the fact that they didn’t have any “footage”. They were trying their best to give her the best care in the quickest fashion. We live in a big city with small townships surrounding. If you get a volunteer first responder, they are coming straight from wherever they are at the moment in their personal vehicles. My husband has a single call that he thinks about, every single day. I’m sure this run is that kind of run for a lot of these people that tried to save her life.
they kept asking bc no one could really understand her! then they all want to say they KNEW she said Eric...🤔 makes no sense. these backwoods hicks need to open their minds!!
I have been in a similar, yet much less traumatic experience. Just a simple go-cart accident with a concussion. They probably asked me 20 times my name, age, phone number, address, etc. I was giving them ‘perfect’ answers but they kept asking over and over. Either I wasn’t speaking clearly or they were stupid 🤷🏻♀️
My thoughts exactly. There is no need. The FIRST responders had already established these details . The number of ppl asking these questions of a dying girl in her condition borders on harassment imo. Not intentional but surely, given rhe situation, they should have been more mindful. Ask each other who she is
@@adjones87 They kept asking you those questions to make sure you were coherent. Considering the concussion they were probably checking your memory and what not.
I don’t find any humor in what these first responders are testifying to and the details this judge has to listen to. I find these jokes totally out of place
This breaks my heart. I cannot even wrap my head around this. How can any human being be so cruel. Tears ran down my face through this whole video. I don’t know the verdict yet, but I sure thank God I am not one of those jurors. This is just so sad for all involved. I have to believe in my heart that God will have ultimate justice.
Never Ask God why…. Every time I ask it became me. No bs. Don’t ask. Be grateful you can’t do this it’s painful THATS A GOOD THING we’re not that That broken.
I am wondering why the lawyers were asking the same questions over and over again. And if everyone is saying she said Eric than why isn’t someone named Eric on trial????
So this sadistic monster gets away with this while he is being held for torture of another innocent woman! These men's lives are forever changed by this horrific scene. Another example of a failed system!!!
I'll ask the obvious question, I don't know if it has been asked before, what if Quinton had told Jessica that his name was Eric and Jessica called him Eric all the time?
Bernard Phillips her best friend testified that while all three of them was together, Jessica only referred to him as his real name.. so if Jessica knew him by Eric. She wudve called him that
i dont think Quintin did it. but Tellis maybe. its very common for criminals/gang members to never use their real name. they give different names and go by nicknames
Marlin Smith I think her so called best friend lied her butt off on stand! She kept giggling and sending smiles over at the defendant, I kept hoping the judge would call her on her crap. She was sure fast to throw her dead friend under the bus for smoking pot and selling it. That wasn't a friend in my opinion.
If you can produce saliva, your mind is not triggering your body to go into flight or fight survival mode. If you can’t produce saliva you’re at risk of panic attack.
But what IS suspicious is that he was involved with that other girl that was murdered too..How often are you dating or whatever with not just one ..but two girls that turned up murdered?
@@anniepease5446 It’s possible but he was well known by several people where/when the murder of Jessica Chambers happened. I do hope that if these murders were committed by this same male, that they have enough substantial evidence to prove without any reasonable doubt that it was him. He did use the second victims credit card so it makes one think so. It’s just too coincidental.
Could be; I feel bad now for making a mean comment. But it was sooooo distracting I wanted to reach through the I pad and thump him on the forehead, He has probably never been near anything like this before, or ever again, with the publicity, media, etc . All of them still seem very shaken up.
I have NEVER in all the times i have had to attend court where the judge ALLOWS anyone to chew gum in his court room !! ..... Disgusting display of disciplane.... especially on the stand .
If Jessica corrected the first responders when they heard Courtney or Kaitlyn then why wouldn’t she have corrected them once they said “Eric who?” And try to say Quentin?
so, i held my tongue and said Quinton. it sounded a little close to eric. so , i had my little nephew say quinton. i then asked my nephew to say quinton holding his tongue because i figured a little 5 year old has weaker/ smaller lungs than i. Guess what it sounded like he/her said (loud and Clear)???it sounded like they said the name Eric. Creepy.
Do y'all get the impression all these people asked Jessica very many times "who did this?" It wasn't just once that she said who did it to her. She was an absolute fighter! She deserves the actual monster be tried. Stop sowing a seed of doubt which only hurts the family. Unethical people do that in effort to attempt to divide people. Boss Hog there has said so many ignorant things, how can he hold that position...
RIGHT!! IMO, if she was speaking clearly enough to know she was saying ERIC then they wouldn't have had to ask her 100x. they kept asking bc they werent sure what she was saying
Putting all these first responders through “ describe to the court what Jessica looked like”.? Imho .. every person in that courtroom all knew that Jessica Chambers had been set alight and died of an horrific death. Why didn’t they just show the body of Jessica quickly instead of making all of these responders verbally describe Jessica’s appearance. The court could have warned those who would react to graphic photo of Jessica, can please leave the room beforehand...
It’s a device relevant to the case, the more the jury feels the gravity of what was done to JC, the more vile the individual responsible for her death. Also, JC’s appearance speaks to the devastating nature of her injuries. By multiple confirmations of this fact, it supports why JC could likely not correctly pronounce her killer’s name
finally a good cameraperson....awake and following the proceedings as they unfold.. Law and Crime has normally horrible camerapeople completely asleep 'at the wheel'.
RIGHT!! And for any of them to say they KNEW 100% without a doubt what she was saying is just asinine!! theres no way this girl could speak clearly and distinctly! besides half of them seem a little backwoods, simple thinking. they couldnt imagine the name Tellis. had to be Eric, and no way they can admit they might be wrong...sad they cant admit being wrong for the sake of justice for this girl
I'm confused. Why is this man on trial for this when everyone at the scene that night said that Jessica said "Eric" did it? No wonder this guy was acquitted twice!
He was acquitted once but was not unanimous They went back and when they returned it looked like the majority acquitted him but it was a lie That is why there was a second trial Otherwise once someone is acquitted he/she cannot be tried again, even if they confess later Double jeopardy The second time it was hang jury So a third trial?? I don’t know what happened
Who cares if the officer is chewing gum?!? Obviously he is very anxious and traumatized. While it is not correct in court proceedings, they way people are belittling each other in comments and bashing each other is just sick.
Any time a defense's tactic in court is being a stickler on written reports versus testimony is truly a last ditch/grasping at straws defense. Jessica's statement claiming that "Eric" did this is the only thing creating even a sliver of reasonable doubt.
Megan G He was caught using the murder victim’s debit card 8 months after what happened to Jessica. He was there? How do you explain him admitting he was in the car with Jessica that day? Or him texting her at 7:43 which was 16 minutes after she left his house to say, “sorry babe, can’t hang out tonight my friend is coming over” Or him going to the connivence store/gas station 5 times that day, dressed in different clothes EVERY time. He showed up 30 minutes before what happened to Jessica, then 30 minutes later when Jessica had already been found, he showed up in a whole different outfit. He’s guilty as can be.
She knows that and has to drive that point home. The name “Eric” is going to be hard for a jury to get past once the judge gives instructions on reasonable doubt. I mean if I’m on the jury and 17 people say the victim said a name other than the defendant, I’m having reasonable doubt.
My mind is just racing on what was done to her prior to being burned and if she was burned to quiet her and destroy evidence?????? Just so many questions
Where's the dash cam footage! ? No body cameras either!? Really I know it's a small town but ffs, or was this before body cams are supposed to be used everywhere? Even older cell phones have the ability to record voices, too bad nobody thought to record any footage of any kind pulling up to the scene or while speaking with Jessica.
Cant believe you care about the gum. Hes traumatized as hell and it probaly helped him focus. I always chew gum to help calm myself down. I wouldnt use one at the stand as a witness but I may not realize i was chewing if i was a traumatized as this firefighter
This woman defense attorney is so irritating to me, she to me doesn't appear to pay attention to what is already said and in my opinion is not a very good attorney.
I have to disagree. She is driving this point home. She is fighting for her clients life and she is making sure the jury remembers “Eric” because that right there is reasonable doubt. She does a really good job. I think she will get her client off. Smart lady.
The defense attorney is clarifying what each witness is testifying too because the jury may not be able to hear them very well. Many of them have heavy accents and if their voices are low it’s hard to hear what they are saying. She is trying to defend a person which I’m sure you would appreciate it if the tables were turned.
So... how many times does the same information need to be repeated. Maybe 3 at most to corroborate. And why would they put witness after witness on the stand that said she responded that Eric did this to her. Reasonable doubt from day one. And the defense attorney so sweetly viscous 😒
What are they saying to the witnesses at the end of their testimony? Is the judge telling them that they are “finally” excused? I’ve never heard that phrase before.
So taking away from it all if she could say her name and be truthful enough that y’all took her word y when she says Eric is it not taking as such evidence in solving her murder? So y’all just gonna let Eric walk free smh not saying Quinton didn’t have nothing to do with it but he had help and he wasn’t the killer Eric is out there n he needs to pay too RwG Jessica
thats my curiosity. bc they couldn't find an Eric they just picked a drug dealer they thought they could pin it on?? I have only watched these first couple days of trial so Idk all the details but so far something seems off
I heard he has a cousin named Eric and they had all 3 hung out. But his cousin couldn't be found. Don't know if that was true, but I would like to know if it's true.
O just found out this guy that's on trial is connected to another murder with a guy named Eric and some girl, one of their sisters. Some people say that they were all three connected to Jessica's murder. I just hope whoever did it goes to jail!
Just started watching this on Oxygen. Not sure HOW I MISSED IT HAPPENED IN THE STATE I LIVE IN. Prayers for her family. As far as who did it? I really have no idea. I know if I were in her shoes I would have said who did it to me most definately! Whether Quentin is really Erick AND that's the name he gave Jessica, we probably will never know. Why didn't they ask.... Describe the person who did this to you.. What did he look like? Why did they do this to you ?
You would think that they would have had her rushed to the hospital BEFORE anything else.. It seems like she was there quite a while before thwey even did so..Maybe it;s me but there she was all burned and she had to talk to all these people??? Doean't make sense to me.
They were having her life flighted. Their town had a population of 500, their hospital isn’t going to be equipped to help her. They did that so she could be life flighted faster and receive proper help.
How anyone could have the heart to do this to someone...obviously he didn't have a heart. Grown men who cried on the stand had a heart. I can't even comprehend how she suffered! God rest her soul.
idk what the final verdict is on this case but I just dont know how they will get a guilty verdict after so many witnesses state she said ERIC did this to me
They all said it sounded like Eric... With her trouble breathing and mouth and tongue burned she probably was saying Gettis... the scumbag's last name. I don't know if anyone has even thought of that.
The coroner said there is no way she could have said “Eric” clearly You have to pull your mouth back to make the E sound Her mouth and the cheek muscles were as stiff as leather
This is so tragic, I think they misunderstood what she was saying, and you can tell the defense lawyer is eating that up, because she jumps on that point with every witness. I feel for all of those first responders it traumatized them all to have to deal with this situation. I'm from a small town and things like this never happen here, so I can relate to this men and how hard it would be to have actually known the victim, and even went to school with her. My prayers go out to Jessica's family and I hope they get Justices for their child!!!!
But to be honest..ALL the people that asked her thought they heard the SAME name? Weird isn't it? If she was speaking sort of "hard to understand"..Why did they ALL hear the same name? And AGAIN why did she have to stay there getting pictures taken and talking to all these people instead of someone rushing her to the hospital!!!!! That could have possibly saved her life!
Barbie G. They were waiting for life flight. I’m sure any hospitals, they have close by, are not equipped to handle that kind of trauma and the ambulance was probably just as good as the hospital would’ve been. I live in a smallish town. My father-in-law had a gas hot water heater blow up in his face and had to be life flighted to Vanderbilt. He was okay but they were concerned about his throat being burned. It was closer and faster for him to go straight to the landing zone than the hospital first that wouldn’t have been able to help him anyway.
I love how the judge says "I trust that no- one has discussed this case or been in contact with anybody regarding the case" . AS if anyone believes that!!!!
Now... I will be the first to admit I probably would say something to my grown kids or close friends ... But, there are genuinely people who do not budge and annoying, always...A.L.W.A.Y.S. do the right thing. (My stepdad/airforce/911 said nothing to us). They are usually old, German or Jehovah's witnesses or something but man I'm not worthy. They ( people who ANNOYINGLY a.l.w.a.y.s. follow their decent principles) exist. :)
That's a cool Judge, he asked him kindly. Some Judges would've gone off on him. The Judge shouldn't have to tell anyone to stop going in and out of the courtroom. All of the witnesses those who didn't know and those that did all had compassion for her.
If Tellis did do it, wouldn't he need an accomplice to escape the scene? Perhaps cousin was part of it all, they just can't put HIM there and Tellis aint talkin
Too many people asking her her name & who did it. That’s stressful for her. She had already told a couple of people. Lawyers r stupid. They ask a ? & of the witness’s , they answer & than repeat the ? Than the next lawyer ask the same witness the same ?. Who is Eric. ?Where is her phone. ? I know this was tearing her parents up.
Where were her clothes??? And by what the mother stated that Jessica said about the bitches...maybe it was an Erica..? Just saying. And no one asked if the person was male or female to better identify.
They say she only knew this guy for only two weeks, could it be that maybe he used a false name she said she didn’t know his last name. If not then where does the name Eric come from
I had already thought that OR may he went by Eric to her! However I have doubts about him killing her but I think it was more people with her in those woods including Quinton!!
@@jessicapeace3981 her best friend testified she never introduced him or spoke his name to her. she only said hes cute and the defense thought the best friend said " Q " like some kind of nickname for him. The prosecution cleared that up. So she may have known him as eric especially since he had a girlfriend and was probably trying to be ummm discrete?
@@pixiechick4367 I cant imagine. although I've learned that when burned this badly it damages the nerves so you don't feel it until it starts healing. not to say she felt no pain but lets hope she didnt. probably in such shock she didnt realize what was happening
Why doesn’t Prosecution point out the widely accepted practice of waiting 24 hours to obtain statements from people to ensure the most accurate recollection? Prosecution 101.
Prosecutors have to prove their case. Defense is doing her job by having each witness repeat their written statements that Jessica said “Eric set her on fire.” If the state brought any other proof then the defense would have to fight that.
Did anybody repeated Eric to her and asked to say yes or no to confirm if they heard it correct? Did anybody wrote Eric on a paper and asked to confirm yes/no???
No nobody thought to repeat the name back and have her nod or shake her head in yeah or nay fashion. She would not have been able to write due to the third degree burns to her hands as they would have stiffened up rendering the use of her hands impossible.
@@jennifers.3818 Emts and firefighters are not police. It is unfair to expect them to know how to question a victim. Their jobs first and foremost are to provide and administer medical attention and first aid and to question how something occurred to the patient them not who did this you. I believe they did the best they could under these horrendous circumstances and from my understanding no one really knew how to respond to this due to it not being something they dealt with on a regular basis. Small town, small town problems that tend to be quite different than in big cities.
Ok WTH IS THE freakin prosecutor sounding RUDE AF asking the witness questions when he has to repeat himself?! Its not his fault y’all can’t hear him! Get ya mics fixed in court! Lol to the judge when he said slow down slow down the lady has to write everything down. 😂
Is everyone missing the point that she sd she didnt know the last name of “eric” clearly points to the fact that she wasnt mispronouncing tellis - she knows Quintin last name - Quintin clearly in my opinion not her killer
They have missed a lot of key points and that mos def is one of them. I think that the prosecution and Defense sucked as far as question and their knowledge of how to navigate thru a trials testimonies.
There’s so much evidence to point to him as guilty. I think maybe he told her that his name was Eric? I’m not sure. But Quintin’s sister has a tattoo on her arm/hand with the name Eric on it. I don’t know if you’ve seen the closing argument of the defense team, but it paints him as guilty. When I first watched the whole 2 hour long documentary, I was in the same boat, thinking he didn’t do it. But there’s videos of him at the gas station through the whole day (he changes 5 times during the day) but 30 minutes before it happens he shows up at the gas station, then 30 minutes within the time frame of Jessica dying, he comes back in a COMPLETELY different outfit. He texts her minutes before she would’ve been dead telling her “he can’t see her tonight because his friend is coming over” even though she left his house 16 minutes before he texted her that. In my opinion, he tried to have sex with her that day and it turned horribly wrong and he killed her. Based off how he said “they had sex in her car and he was in the passenger seat & had it leaned back” which was the same seat that was found leaned back that night.
I've seen people with less burns than she had while working in trauma/er and the pain is so excruciating that they are unable to speak. You get grunting and whining until the pain is under control. I don't believe for one second that she was able to articulate anything at the scene. Not with 93% burns and the noise of firetrucks would have drowned out any wimpering from her unless they were ear to mouth with her. Honestly my 2 theories are self immolation or some white folks that didn't want her dating a black man did it. This whole case is a disaster.
Christina Kaur exactly! I worked in a hospital in the UK....I’m surprised she managed anything, let alone articulate anything. The burns unit is the saddest place......I’ve heard grown men beg to die, the pain is so horrific.
Geez, I guess his lawyer tried to clean him up and look presentable. This idiot is in court waving to all his supports. Disgusting!!! His lawyer just keeps focusing on "Eric" Just creepy! His lawyer needs to shut up, she is so mono tone !
She’s focusing on Eric because in Jessica last breath she told the first responders. Eric did this to me. She yeah, where is Eric??? I mean if 6 out of 8 law biding citizen said she said Eric
She is doing a great job. When the jurors deliberate, they will not forget that one huge piece of reasonable doubt ... “Eric”. Jurors forget and focus on things that can completely distract them from huge problems in a prosecution. 17 witnesses saying “Eric” is almost insurmountable in a criminal case. She has to make it clear that each one of these people brings reasonable doubt to this case. She is actually a great lawyer. Great lawyers will irritate people and great lawyers get people set free all the time. They know how to get something in a juror’s head.
