Is anyone else troubled by the witness not answering YES or NO but volunteering extra info as well as talking before the question is finished? I'm surprised the judge is allowing this to go on!
YES! I think the ol' boy was stuttering too much, and protesting when there was no apparent reason to protest. He couldn't state any clear cut criteria for narrowing down the suspects. He couldn't state any real reason for NOT getting DNA swabs from certain people. He seems to believe he's a human lie detector. He's inconsistent. He was just a mess.
I love the judge in this trial! He really seems unbiased, and if anything seems to be very considerate of the rights of the defendant. On a personal note, he reminds me of my father
I gave that suspect EVERY benefit of the doubt.. And after listening to ALL of the interrogation, and watching 90% of this case on here, My stomach started to turn. This man is guilty as SIN itself. He has no remorse, and if he gets off Scott FREE, he WILL kill again. He is a machine. He has no emotion. He is a typical textbook "Psychopath."
I have yet to see anything that implicates him whatsoever. but this as as far as Ive gotten, still at beginning of this video. why did she repeatedly say Eric?? sounds nothing like Quinton and she claimed she didn't know his last name, which she did know Quintons last name. Now granted, IK in a shock situation like she was in maybe she was meaning to say "quinton" and it came out a different name. I was in a car accident and was trying to say one thing and the words were coming out wrong. I knew in my mind i was trying to say July, but it was coming out December. In my mind Id say, No JULY! and It would come out December. So maybe she thought she was saying something different. it really is crazy what happens to us and how our minds work

She has Eric's name tatooed largely on her hand. I think Eric was there & he was the one who set her on fire, but I think Quinton told him to. If they actually investigated this Eric, I haven't seen it yet but haven't watched all the trial. He wasn't one of the Erics they were talking about ruling out when they were sorting through the cell info. This Eric's name doesn't seem to have come up yet.

She was in shock, there was zero evidence, even through autopsy, that she suffered blunt force trauma to the head, @ all, unlike what you mentioned about your personal experience,💁🏼♀️ which definitely sounds very like, closed head trauma. I don’t know! The defense lawyer is city experienced & the detective is small town so his extreme nervousness is understandable. Think of lawyers going to to Mayberry & you get the picture. The defense lawyer is so laid back but intimidating to the detective bc he's implying the detective is incompetant. The residence of this small town don't make a living lying through their teeth. I believe all the investigating teams followed the facts & the defense lawyer is trying to through bs theories into the facts. The detective has said several times that all the ppl in Jessica's phone were not questioned & DA tested if they had not had physical contact with her within the past wk & this DA wants to keep making a issue of it when it makes perfect sense. The 2 men that called for EMS when they saw Jessica's car did not know Jessica, were not aquaintanced on social media so not persuing them after they satisfied the detective questions is just another doubt to plant in the jury's mind. Being a concerned citizen & wanting to help is the extent of their involvement. I think Jessica knew exactly who she was attacked by & only experienced persons that have heard a victim give their dying declaration would be aware of this, therefore, trust what they hear.
lori Buchanan The defense attorney is very good... shes calm, poised, considerate, yet steadfast in getting witness to say what she wants. And without being aggressive or mean about it. Ever since watching this trial I have been impressed with her. Regardless of his guilt or innocence, I can appreciate a good defense... 👍👍 Side note: prosecution could have done WAY more and fell short. Hoping they have more evidence next trial. “Eric” could have easily been her saying “A Wreck” ... just sayin’...

true, but idk that I can say everyone involved in this case regarding the small town cops, EMTs, and other personnel all know what they're doing, all made educated, well informed decisions, and all gave good information. I think most were all too personally affected by the traumatic events, experiencing and seeing it firsthand skewed their thinking and ability to make good decisions
I watch a lot of homicide documentaries, and people are often killed by opportunist criminals who happen to stumble upon their prey, so your argument about the two truck drivers not knowing her and therefore it was right in not investigating them further is not full proof.
She was nineteen when she died. You can’t say she had no guidance. She was living her life and she was murdered. It most certainly was not the fault of her parents.
If something ever happened to me, I want THAT detective (Mr. Douglas) on my case. He is thorough and to the exact point!!!!! I would believe him over ANYONE. Investigating is what that man was made for. It's obvious!!! He is so exact. They (defense) hate him for it. And I love him for it. The truth always hurts the deceitful.
I just gotta LOVE him. He has the light of God inside of him. Period. Very respectful man. Even of the suspect. Not once did he talk with abuse, lie, or even slightly mistreat the suspect. Just a REAL investigator, with a mission to get at the truth.

I kind of got the feeling that the reason why the defense attorney kept hem hauling around and asking the same questions over and over again was because I think it was out of spite . The defense attorney knew Mr. Douglas had interrogated Quinton Tellis for a long period of time , so I think he thought he would question Mr. Douglas as long as he could. That's what I mean about being spiteful. I'm sure Mr. Douglas had a good reason why he suspected Mr. Tellis in this murder . He knew he was lying . He knows Tellis killed Jessica Chambers. He has been doing his job for a long time and he knew what he was doing. I for one am proud of him . I notice some people said , he acted nervous. He sounds like he was a little sick with a cold and I think that's why he was drinking so much water . Maybe he had a sore throat that day ....IDK , but this man is not a dummy . I think he is a very smart man.
Bonnie Brown Agreed! This case reminds me of the Jodi Arias case...remembered how she brutally murdered Travis because she felt rejected. Same case different scenario but same motive. Tellis obviously felt rejected by Jessica Chambers
It's really refreshing to see the primary witness in this testimony be 100% honest. It's great that there's at least one honest, competent cop in Mississippi.
Mr. Williams the DA is the most arrogant lawyer I have ever witnessed. He is disrespectful & reaching at straws with his line of questioning. Coulda, woulda, shoulda is all he has to try & pick apart an investigation that seems straight forward to me.
The defense attorneys are very professional. Their calm demeanor is much different than many other trials I’ve watched. They prove it’s very possible to cross examine without being condescending or using an attacking tone. I knew nothing about this case prior to stating it 2 days ago. The defense is definitely instilling doubt in my mind.
Whomever killed her was very angry and it was personal. To burn someone alive you have to be a psycho! I think she knew something and the person killed her to keep her silent!!
Maybe she knew about other crimes he did and was going to go to the police with it. They mentioned drugs (weed and pills) I also think he had help with murdering her. Who owned the SUV that they saw on camera driving up to the shed and then going back to the crime scene? Who was that? Have they investigated that?
I had to look up this case, mistrial. Twice! I totally get why, it was excruciating to watch so many questions that answer nothing. This guy goes on to later kill a woman in Louisiana. To bad they didn’t stop him before he hurt someone else.
I don't think this guy on the stand FBI, knows anything. He didn't do a lot of procedures that should have been done. He's too busy excusing himself. He's into the glory of his job not the facts that was somebody else's job.
Folks, it’s just this simple! If someone is being interrogated and they keep lying and lying and lying, it means that they are hiding something. Mainly because, if they are innocent, then why keep lying? You don’t have to have a good memory if you are telling the truth. Period! Peace.
He's one of the main detectives on the case so this is what he would have been working for this entire time. He has to get his point across as best he can to the jury this one time so the person he believes is responsible is held for it.

The biggest take away from this is the animosity and disdain between the law the state the responders etc and the defence. I'll wager the defence is twisting facts and misleading misrepresenting what's being said. The way the cops talking "I understand sir, I don't want to miss peak sir, this is what I said sir, I don't want to appear ____ sir" the level of faux respect is over the top the way everything is so carefully worded not to allow a single door to twisting anything. The defence on the other hand is picking the weakest crap to make appear huge. How do the defence attorney in this case sleep at night?
I believe she was killed because she knew something and they wanted to shut her up. Remember she dealt drugs. You don't fool around with people like that.

The person could have been running away at that point. Where were the dogs? This case is so maddening, it must be excruciating to her parents and others. Ask him if an accident happened, not a murder. Ask anyway.

I didn't hear Peterson say please or thank you once to anyone. Beginning of the trial Jessica's best friend testified and she said that Jessica referred to Quinton as 'Eric' and she asked Jessica why she calls him 'Eric' she said 'I don't know its easier'...that's where Eric has come from but you have to go back to the beginning of the trial and listen very carefully to witness testimony....
Mr Douglas: The worst thing a person can do is not believe a person is telling the truth. This is true of a parent regarding a child. What harm would it have done to run the DNA on the two men who reported finding her????
This is who we pay to be a Federal Investigator, no wonder so many children are still missing, hard to believe he could sit still long enough to drive anywhere or interview anyone, to busy talking to listen and take notes, he should be an auctioneer, not an investigator.
This FBI guy thinks if you are a victim of a crime, the perpetrator will be in your phone. Some criminals victimize random strangers, but not according to this guy . very limited thinking, doesn't have a detectives mind, he is already convinced it had to be someone in her phone. Scary, this is ineffective detective work, the more I watch this detective testify, the more I think Tellis is innocent

Yet TEN people clearly heard her state her name and the name "Eric". He was adamant that she could not talk, but she DID! But I want to know WHO Eric is? Yes when they asked her name...she was able to say Jessica and they understood it and it turned out to be true! Her name was indeed jessica.Jessica. having said that I don't know who else could have set her on fire.
She was TRYING to talk and made sounds. Doesn't mean she was actually speaking coherently and clearly. Eyewitness testimony sucks. People hear and see what they want, memories are distorted and inaccurate. Happens all the time

The defendant does not appear a nice character to me, and if my daughter got involved with someone like him I would have a nervous breakdown. However, Jessica (God rest her soul) clearly repeatedly stated that Eric set her on fire. They need to conduct a root and branch investigation, DNA and all, on all the erics and stop making excuses for them.
He is evil for sure. She was too trusting and met him through that lady from job corps. He had an extensive criminal record, ex convict etc. Justice was not served.

Probably he has to be ready to jump at anybody at the spur of the moment to restrain and contain any person in the court room. There have been cases where someone just shot someone in the courtroom.
I can't listen to this lawyer anymore with his stupid questions.. I don't think I could be in that court room and sit still listening to those questions from the defendant lawyer.. He's the most calmly ignorant lawyer I have ever seen.. 1st of all he doesn't pay attention when the deceive is explaining some facts, bcuz he keeps repeating same questions over n over with no significant point. 2nd he's rude n disrespectful n never apologizes.. 3rd he should go back to college and take some more classes that he probably skipped... He keeps implicating those 2 poor guys who happened to be by pass and did what a good citizen would do by calling for help.. They didn't even know that there was a person there in the fire.. And they even testified that they thought it was a car fire intended to collect insurance money.. Now why would the detectives suspect that those men caused the fire n killed Jessica?? Only a lawyer like this one would think so!! Thank God he's not a detective because he would free murders and send innocent people to jail!!

She couldn't say her own name. She was severely burned. No one knows what she actually said. She said a name and they guessed what she said and ran with it. They should have recorded what she said.

One of the first witnesses, Keisha, said Jessica called Quinton Eric bc it was easier... Go back and watch her testimony. I don't know why these detectives or the prosecutor didn't focus on that.

This guy, Mr Jitters, makes me nervous. Why didn’t he check “Dericks,” brothers phones. Jess said that name, or Eric, to at least six different people. I don’t believe that a dying person, taking their last breaths, saying the same name over and over, when asked, is delusional or in shock to the degree that cops have the right to discount her own words. That’s wrong. I have heard a number of this guy’s spoken questionable decisions. Is he covering something or just incompetent? I could easily point out several other questionable statements. The detective is nervous because he does NOT want to make a mistake of any kind being brought to his attention from the defense that’s cross examining him. You can clearly tell he’s is nervous and that’s how a “perfectionist act”. He’s scared to death to have gotten anything incorrect. My opinion the MF is guilty and the defense is clearly grabbing for straws with ridiculous questions they’re asking. 🤦🏾♀️
I have to admit that, after listening to this ol' boy being crossed, I have my doubts. He wasn't able to give a straight answer to anything. He was inconsistent about the criteria he used to narrow the suspects, or to take DNA swabs. He was stuttering -protesting before anyone gave him a reason to protest. He couldn't give a sound answer as to why he would discount ALL the first responders' statements that they heard Jessica say that "Eric" was responsible for setting her on fire. He said Tellis ALWAYS stretched his arms up before he lied, then he contradicted himself when he was confronted with evidence to the contrary. He didn't like being confronted about his inconsistencies. (He seemed to take offence to the fact that he was being questioned at all.) He seemed to be saying, "He's guilty because I say he's guilty"! Maybe Tellis is guilty. I understand he's accused of another murder that happened the year after this occurred. Fortunately, they have better evidence for that case. It sounds like they just settled on Tellis after he was arrested for the later murder because they felt like they had to arrest someone, and suddenly he looked like a much better suspect. I have many doubts. Very serious doubts.
I didn't get that impression at all. And he did give a straight answer about the firefighters. He said they were in shock and not professionally trained. They were so overwhelmed that he didn't put much stock into what name they claimed to have heard from a dying woman w burnt vocal cords. Which is completely reasonable.
this first detective on stand is at least honest in saying the local police didnt do enough on the night of incident. barely took pics, didnt do interviews, they were too in shock to pull their heads out their ass and do their jobs
This Detective is a flip artist. Every question turns into his opinion of what he believes not what happened exactly. He's explaining not answering. Directing his answers to the jury. Did he explain Dying Declaration? He talks as if no one can understand his position so he has to dummy down his answers. Something's not quite right with him. Not trusting when he speaks.

Watching this Dt Douglas was very unsettling he is definitely lying about something and the way he’s talking about “let’s get the testimony in perspective” plus he looks so uncomfortable very defensive looking. It’s just unnerving watching him to think these types of people are out there supposedly protecting citizens and doing their job properly. Thank goodness I don’t live in the US the worst police force I can think of
Teresa Mcallister- some people aren't good at public speaking, he's so nervous that some people might take it as him lying or being on something. He also is trying really hard not to make any mistakes, which is very easy to do when you're that nervous. I'm the same way and just as bad or worse. I don't think I'd ever make it up to that stand without fainting, or going into a seizure. They would literally have to drug me lol!

That the whole area was the crime scene and he even said , everything was searched. The DA should asked him why wasn't Jessica at her car when they first found her ? Now that I know there was a house near by ...maybe she was going for help ? Not sure...? No matter what though, this us such a sad thing to happen to this young lady. I wouldn't wish this on nobody .
