In Chinese, 4 (sì 四 ) and die/death ( 死 sî ) are very similar and only differ in tone. That's why 4 is considered bad luck. It's also considered unlucky by some in Japan and Korea.

Not really like the turtles could have died in a fire but were saved by April the girl. Ok here’s a weird one. A few years ago I got a severe flu that had me nonstop vomiting for literally 12 hours straight. I was so dehydrated I was delusional. I kept saying ‘No! 4 is bad. Not the 4.’ I said this over and over. I never knew this was an Eastern Asian thing. Considering I have EA DNA with N American DNA, I just wonder how that happened.
