Yesterday at church we had a speaker, and to be honest, his message just rubbed me the wrong way. Lately a lot of messages have rubbed me the wrong way so there must be something I need to work on. Hearing todays message seemed to clarify for me that its not a group that I need to sign up for so things to be right, its believing in Jesus to cleanse me of any guilt or sin. Only He can do this. Our church really presses on us to be in groups, but I think they just need to focus on teaching the word more. In the meantime, I am praying for guidance on taking my family to a different church that doesn't use TV evangelist as speakers and where I can communicate with others in a smaller environment. I need prayer for my attitude as well because I have been mad since my mother has passed away more than a year ago, it still bothers me.
It's perfectly ok to reach for fullness of the gospel, I think a lot of us are frustrated with the t.v. evangelist style churches and Hippy Jesus Church, Esoteric church, prosperity gospel church, and many other forms Just stay close to Scripture and prayer for now. We might be a bit lonely in these last times and not even find a "real" Church but for now we have a online church and we can at least try other Churches if they have the same Base beliefs that Scripture has told us to follow. If I may suggest, you have to be jealous with your ears. Don't let just anyone who says Lord Lord speak over your life. I've binge watched preachers and RU-vid pastors for 6 years and I just realized I am so far from God. Delight only in your communication with Him and bible study. God will direct you to sound doctrine when you search deeply for Him. He placed me in a healthy small church and still I take good care of what I hear, but it's safe.
Oh mighty God, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I lift up Carl as she struggles with these difficult circumstances in her life. Good God, I pray that You would move and be and act in the midst of the anger and the hurt. May You be her refuge and strong tower to Whom she may flee. May she find homage for You and peace beneath Your glorious wings. Give her guidance, discernment, and wisdom as she seeks Your will as well as Your healing in her life. God, You alone are good, and we thank You that we may come boldly before Your throne of grace because of the sacrifice that You made in our place. We love You our mighty God and pray all these things in Your mighty name Lord Jesus, amen.
This world has become a deluge of sin meant to trap us in perpetual guilt. Every time I reflect on the Gospel I am reminded on how wonderful the works of Jesus are as He pulls me out. This morning I was thinking about all the various sins I've committed that are not only cringe worthy, but if unlet they would paralyze my soul with grief. Thank the Lord that it is grace that makes my conscious clean. Even if I don't -feel- it at the moment, I have to turn to the promise of forgiveness and know that the Father, Jesus, and the Spirit can not lie, and my hope of forgiveness is declared by the word of God in His act of love. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be reminded of this, especially when I was waking up this morning wrestling with this very issue. Thank you and God bless you, Mr. Piper
