Jet Li is Great. 15 time Wushu Gold medalist at the age of 19. MASTER OF 7 DIFFERENT WUSHU STYLES. PLAYED AS WONG FEI HUNG AND HUO YUANJIA.. DUDES A LEGEND
+donniewins what wushu form did he practice in fearless film? in between the film and at the end of the film he practices wushu in a field, what form is that?
In terms of humility and spirit, Jet Li is the ultimate role model of martial arts. He avoids fighting, seeks peace, and claims that he is not the ultimate warrior. That is the ultimate goal of martial arts.
@@user-kp3hd9wr4w Aside from the fact that your comment could easily be considered contradictory (How can you seek peace but love fighting? Unless you mean sparring/competition, which isn't like fighting on the streets), how have I ruined anything for you? All this 12 year old comment said was that Jet Li embodies the ultimate goal of spirit and humility.
Cannot agree. If martial arts cannot improve one's fighting skill, then it should not be called"martial".If martial arts cannot enable one to fight, then it should be called sports, or dance of shadow boxing
I grew up watching Gordon Liu and Lo Lieh and didn't even know who they were. So when I first saw Drunken Master (1978) and Shaolin Temple (1982) in the 90's, of course my mind was once again blown.
@@rajeshwardevrathod869 you fool search father of Martial arts and mixed martial arts and king of kung fu the results are Bruce Lee there will be no another Bruce Lee and u mad ,Donnie yen admited that Bruce is ahead of his time
@@karanpandey728 - shut up , Bruce Lee was very good in what he learned but he was not a complete wushu martial artist like jet Lee . Bruce fights are boring stuff , watch enter the dragon mirror fight and then say , shut off fool 👍.
@@karanpandey728 you all that compare to bruce lee think that bruce is usa but he actually is chinese from hongkong. They all are chineses. So chinese wins.
For those who think that this is dancing, martial arts isn't purely about sparing and combat. Wushu is divided into Sanda(COMBAT wushu), and Taolu(EXHIBITION wushu). In this video Jet Li did Taolu. Hope this helped:)
meaning its fancy bs that is not viable in real life combat situations. you did help. kung fu is shit. although they like to win the forms in competitions because that is what that's about. being fancy and flashy. fighting though, they kind of suck. like bad.
@@darrickcortez7672 Not really. What Massi is saying is that there is an artistic component to most Asian martial arts that is not present in other martial arts, the idea behind this being that the artistic showcasing of the form is good for the mind and for control so you don't fly off the handle and rush into fights recklessly, while the combat component is ideal for keeping you safe and providing quick, efficient strikes to vulnerable areas. You almost never see combat wushu in movies or any context that would be available to an audience, because with the exception of Bruce Lee, most masters find it pretty crass to perform an exhibition with combat techniques. You get taught it, but you also get taught to never showcase it and only use it in self-defense.
He's like the Michael Jordan of Chinese boxing. And that whole team he was on was absolutely top notch: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gqagZNrKSgs.html
Also Lee Xiaolong, Ji-Dan's hero along with Muhammad Ali. And we gotta include Gordon Liu, Sammo and Lau Kar-Leung at the very least. Any more than that and the list starts getting really long.
been always amazed of wushu! jel li and jacky chan have been my all time favorite since I was 6 years old!! i'm in awe to have watched this!! the great jet li!!
Perfect movements! If I were Chinese feel very proud to have a great teacher with Jet Li. Thank you for this incredible video. The best regards from Portugal and my respect.
Some are good singers...but they don't do career in that ....but that doesn't stop them from singing....love what you do....do what you love...don't do every thing for money
Big talent, working hard and always being humble contributed Li's success! Respect to Li Lianjie! Really another legend besides Bruce Lee and Jackue Chan!
What a tight formation and figures, I didn't expect anyvless from Jet Li tho. And guys, everyone who has grown up with movies of Bruce, Jackie, Jet, Donnie and many others whose name I do not know, should respect them all imho. It's because of all of them we enjoyed all of thede movies and became a part of our lives. I really love them all, I can't say that I love 1 more then the other. They all of their own qualities and have added so much in our lives.
Damn, this ''wu shu dance'' or whatever looks harder and more difficult than fighting. Those moves are so amazing and cool. I think if i try that i would have an instant death
Fighting is easy: "To strike the throat, kick the knee. To kick the knee, strike the eye." and like that. Just do hsingyi for three hours every day for a few years and you'll do fine. Nothing fancy required. But advanced longfist is *hard*. That kind of timing is rare. It only comes a few times in a generation, as far as I can tell, if that. You had folks like Li Tianji, Ma Yuehliang and Yu So-Chow. In the next generation Yu Chenghui and Bow Sim Mark. In Western boxing we had Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, but not much footage of Sugar Ray Robinson. Every single one of these people had superior timing and advanced martial arts.
@@Nuxia108any mma fighter would destroy a wushu dancer because fighting is about fighting. It’s about destroying your opponent with brutality. Not looking pretty and doing flips and spins.
O cara fazendo parece t fácil, porém, não é..... Vlw mestre pelo incentivo ao mundo inteiro e por nos fazer cada vez mais amantes das artes marciais 😎😎😎😎
The one thing in this video that sticks out above all other things to me is being in a split and using your legs to bring yourself back to standing. I tried to learn that when I used to dance all the time in my younger days and it is EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL!!!
It's difficult but we're starting to think it may not be great for males, side-splits especially. There are a lot of hip-replacements from the first generations. But there's no better root than the split when you want an instant level-change to thrust an iron fan or sword up into the guts of a charging opponent. Unlike men, even Jet, women can go all the way down. We dudes don't have the right shape hips.
I had to travel 2 hours, to china town in London. Track down a back alley underground martial arts video store. And find a copy of Once Upon a Time in China on VHS. Back in 1992. I collected many Jet and Jackie movies there. Over the years its been fantastic to see these amazing artists become world renowned.
seriously, to the people who dont understand. this is a performace of WUSHU. CHINESE MARTIAL ARTS. so ofcourse itll look a little like dancing. who the hell would want to see him just shadow box all day. pretty sure u wouldnt want to see a boxer or kickboxer shadow box all day in a competition. -_- get real people.
its fancy bs that is not viable in real life combat situations. kung fu is shit. although they like to win the forms in competitions because that is what that's about. being fancy and flashy. fighting though, they kind of suck. like bad. I remember going to competitions and our school would literally clean house on kung fu guys for fighting. we'd make jokes like 'oh their blue belts oh noes. (they were black belts). and our blue belts would wreck their black belts. that's the mentality of kung fu. its flashy to distract. but if you have any kind of brain, its weak as all hell. and btw I still love jet anyways, regardless. And yes im also very well aware he has a black belt in nearly 10 or so different styles. I absolutely love him :)
pat ryan Or maybe they're just speaking sense because most martial arts moves, wushu or otherwise, can't be used in a real fight situation. Movie fights are choreographed so that every actor has things they're supposed to do in the fight, and the opponent knows what is coming and how he's supposed to respond to it. A real fight is too unpredictable to pull off half the shit you see in movies.

Boxing is one of the hardest ways to earn a living, very few get rich and most get brain damages. MMA purses are still way lower. Movies is how many of the best Chinese boxers make their livings, and some of them Opera before the era of film. This is where Sammo came from, and Sammo can throw. Everyone respects him. Jet was lucky because he came up in the sport, and didn't have to fight. Most of the best fighters didn't really have that choice. It was that or nothing. Show me any movie fight that is completely realistic and I'll show you something modern audience would be bored by. The best choreography is a mix, and the chorepgraphy they did for Jet was always designed to show athleticism. With Bruce Lee it was more about strength and speed, because Karate was king in that era. The arts adapt to every generation, and the rise of BJJ is why Donnie made SPL. All of these guys are part of the same martial family, just come from different lineages and domains.
He was a kid with potential in wushu and got accepted though, and trained by two great masters, a kid with 8 or more siblings, grew up to be the one of the greatest martial artist i have seen..
He may be the second martial artist to make a billion dollars, between Jackie Chan and Floyd Money, all among the top technical martial artists of all time. The problem for Jet is he's a legit Buddhist, so all that money is a chain around his neck. Me I'm just glad the world got to see his art!
Jeff Thongson this is a pretty famous Chinese song which is about a hero in the history of martial art .I know that the feeling it's quite weird but it's better if you know the Chinese meaning of the lyrics😀😀
Different styles, IMO. I am no expert, but that is my impression having seen both in action. Neither seems superior. Bruce Lee was exceptional in many ways. Jet Li will also be a legend, but there's only one Bruce Lee :)
Yea OK buddy Bruce Lee is the reason y there is a Jet Li, Jackie Chan , Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, Tony Jaa, Donnie Yen, and ect...... Hell Bruce Lee is 1 of the main reasons y we have UFC and he is the father of MMA so yea Bruce Lee is the truth
Most martial arts solo demonstrations look like dance, because they are coordinated demonstrations of a sequence of techniques. Part of what's important here is his form and precision.
carmaj156 Agree, but the reason it calls Martial Arts because it is different than normal fighting, it has pholisphy and morality with it. people who train this also improve spiritual living.
That was young Jet Li too. Back then he was just known as Li Liengi, because that's his real name. But of course because of his speed, he soon got the name Jet. Go young Jet li!!!!
