It's funny you should say that, because I've always thought that Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth sounds very similar. Have a listen to a Opeth album such as 'Pale Communion' or 'Damnation' and see what you think. 😁
wow i used to steal my brothers album and played the cover of it . then i discovered ethereal herbs and it became even better listening . Now just high on life and its still incredible the Tull were magicians .
Yeah, what a great blast from the past this is. I saw them do this during the "A" concert in L.A., the night they had video crews swarming all over the place in order to produce the "Slipstream" video. This song, however, didn't make the eventual playlist in that home video release, so it's really great to relive it here after all these years. Thanks so much for posting it!
Another treat. Haven't heard this since the Albert Hall in 1980. The song was added to beef up the set a few dates into the US tour as reaction to the new look Tull and 'A' material was slightly underwhelming.
They also played it here and there through out 21st century. I have a few recordings from 2001 where they play it. I have DVD too, I might upload Bungle from it. UW2
I'm glad you like it, next I'm going to finish up some more stormwatch stuff, then I'm going to post as much as I can of an A concert, then I will do the same with the under wraps tour with some great footage I found. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching! UW2
AAA+++ synch-job. In Sept, Tull tours Armenia featuring Dogma..In Ian's words, Dogma is...."The best musical metal band this side of Mars. Amazing bass player. Brilliant vocals. Searing guitar. Thundering neutron drums. This band feature instruments which are weapons of mass destruction.... Oh, to be so young." Check Dogma on youtube. Anyway the closest Tull gig to Dallas [me] is Boca Raton Fla Jun 4..see Tull tourdates
+Stex Barrymore Of course u must be referring to his work in the 70's with Tull becasue Mark Craney replaxced him for the 1980 "A" album/tour (which this vid is from). But i agree, he is my favorite of all drumers, as his drumming was part of the melody (if u know what i mean) in so many ways in the 70's albums, like heavy horses, stromwatch, etc. Glad Ian let him the drummer be so large a part of the music back then.
How this group is not in the Hall is mind blowing. Ian Anderson is a first class frontman and one of the best flute players in the world. Meanwhile the Hall would rather have Dolly Parton Willie Nelson and Cheryl Crow. All excellent musicians mind you but contributed little to Rock n Roll. Tull has them beat 100 fold. The Hall is a joke anymore.
Stupid ppl call this worst song ever. Reality is that wildlife get drunk when they can. Elephants take the Marula fruit from the treetops in South Africa. Overripe, the'll get you drunk in no time. Primates and monkeys are no different, you just have a nap after that taste! Ian Anderson is brilliant and has a great voice , great dance moves and is talented on musical instruments unlike dimwits who make dunce comments...
This song is about how Constantinople was lost to ouzo. Too much ouzo is bad for you. The Greek clergy were too drunk. Suleiman entered the Hagia Sofia alone without a fight and prayed. The clergy were too drunk and by the time they went to Hagia Sophia, they lost it forever. Ouzo brought down Byzantium. And that is why Muslims don't drink alcohol and that's why alcohol is forbidden or prohibited in Islam.
