Funniest thing you'll hear today: I'm watching A Closer Look and my 4 year old daughter is bugging me to go downstairs and put on a 'bedtime show' for her. Me: "it'll be 10 more minutes, hang out with your siblings in the living room and I'll be out." 4: "But I want to watch this with you." Me: "I don't think you do." 4: (emphatically) I DO, I like boring things now. I had to pause it to laugh for a solid 30 seconds. She's available to help write, Seth. It's hard for me to stay up late enough to watch Seth, which makes me very sad. My elderly mother is the same. A Closer Look is seriously one of her favorite things in the entire universe. I truly appreciate being able to send her the link every night so she doesn't have to make herself take a nap around this time so she can make herself stay up late to watch. She's almost 79 and has some health issues so she needs her rest. This RU-vid channel is helping me stay sane. Seth Meyers is the spoonful of sugar that makes current events easier to deal with.

Personally I love the monologues but I like straight comedy-wordplay, deadpan, sarcasm, the works-and I don’t have a problem bouncing around. Correction: the Speaker of the House isn't 3rd in line to the presidency, they're second. The President isn't in line, they already have the job. The VP is first in line, and the speaker is behind them.

Any Republicans that do that would be immediately ostracized from the party and primaried next year. They'd lose that primary because, while their district as a whole may be D+5 or more, their primary electorate is Trump+20 or more.

At this point most Americans seem to treat elections like a team sport. They vote by the color of the jersey, not because of competence or policy proposals. A news commentator mentioned the Speaker election was “difficult due to the diversity of the Republican Caucus.” Yes, so diverse: almost all white men with political leanings from right wing to completely authoritarian (looking at you, Gym Jordan).

seth please talk about the ohio state wrestling abuse scandal that occured while jordan was a coach. six different former wrestlers have come forward saying that jordan knew about the abuse and did nothing to stop it. one former wrestler even testified under oath that jordan called him crying, begging him not to reveal jordan’s complicity. this story needs more national exposure, jordan is dennis hastert 2.0
