Pure talent. I have heard him sing this live. He told a story about writing this song, about his son missing him when he was away from home touring with the Statler brothers. And the guilt he felt about being away on the road performing. God Bless.

I have too much on my heart but it has nothing to do with earthly things. It only has to do with my heart for Jesus and Heaven. I know where to start to make my life right again. Pain shoots through me like a dart Lord I have to much on my heart. It's not to late Lord you give us your everlasting love and a way to restart. You are never cold to us you allow us a place in your heart. I can be there for you always because you have the most loving heart. You never make us feel pain you give us your heart so we always know where to start. I have time for you to make me understand it never gets out of hand. Years ago I believed the Statlers would never be able to replace Lew and continue on and I'm glad to say I was so wrong way back then. Jimmy Fortune is and has always been absolutely wonderful. Love him and love the music he is still producing. Such a talented man.
My aunt died in 2015. She once was a great singer, the years of smoking took her voice eventually took her life. We use to sing along to this so many times, then she'd just listen to me and chime in here and there. I miss her so much.
+Custom Wedding Garter The Statlers were started with the help of Lew DeWitt, one of the founders. He struggled with Crohn's disease from his youth and had to retire in 1982. He died 8-15-1990 and Jimmy became the tenor for the group until they also retired in 2002.

Jimmy is an exceedingly humble man and would never think for a moment that he was cheated of anything. As a matter of fact, when he is praised he gives glory to God and all the people around him who helped. He lives what he sings about so well.
Always loved the Statler Brothers but I fell in love with them all over again when Jimmy joined them. I'm so sorry they retired. I understand it was time for them but they were great with Jimmy. Would have loved to hear them several more years.

Most Definitely ! His voice is superior to most of the voices in Nashville and any other genre of music ! Jimmy has the voice of an Angel and can sing anything ! He definetley doesen’t get the recognition he deserves !

When The Statler Brothers found Jimmy Fortune, he saved that band for another 20 years. Most of their biggest hits after that were Jimmy's singing and songwriting.

THE STATLER BROTHERS OWE JIMMY EVERYTHING FOR A LONG TIME. HE MADE THE GROUP AS POPULAR AS THEY WERE AND ARE. JIMMY HAS ONE OF THE GREATEST VOICES EVER. I SURE HOPE HE'S IN THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME ALL BY HIMSELF, BECAUSE HE SURE SHOULD BE.
