Eh.. maybe that’s a lesson in making the right friends.. all of these guys are former colleagues of JJ’s.. and, in sports/media, people respect a no-nonsense person who over-prepares for their job (in addition to having multiple other jobs).. he clearly made an impression while he was at ESPN.. And yea, it’s an experiment, for sure.. but if you look at the guy’s career and what he’s done since retiring, he’s maxed out his potential at every level.. I tend to expect a lot from coaches who weren’t talented enough to be *great* pro players, but had the mind/competitiveness of a great player.. usually means they’ve been ITCHING to affect winning in a way their bodies wouldn’t allow.. but now they can do it from a different angle.. I can’t call it, but if I had to predict, I think he’s gonna be pretty darn good

@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 Pat Riley was actual the Lakers assistant coach for 2 years before he became head coach. And even before that, he was a Lakers broadcaster for a couple. So he was already in the building for some time before he got his shot. Pat didn’t “luck” into his HC job.
