Just a friendly reminder that while Jotaro and Kakyoin were playing video games in the basement, Avdol got disintegrated, Iggy got kicked to death, and Polnareff was in the fight of his life.
I just love this part when Jotarto said "I'm glad you caught on to my idea without a signal" because Joseph is known to predict lines and it makes me miss the young Joseph
"This is how you're cheating!?" "No." "This is how you're cheating!" "No." "THIS IS HOW YOU'RE CHEATING!" "No." "YOU'RE CHEATING!" "Yes!" I'd be mad too.
Unlike his Older Brother, Younger D'arby isn't very experienced in the art of cheating. It hadn't even occurred to him that, if the readings are different, maybe a different person was controlling the game.
Did I forget a semicolon? No. Did I use the wrong operator in my for loop? No. Do I need to fix the logic in my if statement? No. Is one of my pointers improperly placed? No. Did I spell a variable name wrong? No. Does my code have a bug? Yes.
The reason why D'arby resorted to using his stand because Jotaro could already beat him in the game using Star Platinum's reflexes. It was only after D'arby used his stand that Jotaro gave the control to Joseph.
Nah I know this was an old comment but that's not the point. The brothers are the inversion of each other with the gambler being immune to cheating but being beaten by a bluff and the gamer being immune to bluffing but being beaten by cheating.
It isn't explicitly stated but is easily inferred that winning and capturing so many souls actually had the effect of keeping them supernaturally young-looking, so they aged suddenly after losing on account of that.
i love that Jotaro tricks him with a technicality. all his soul readings came up "no" because he was asking Jotaro directly, when he wasn't even playing the game. so of course there's no way his soul can confirm anything besides "I am cheating"
@@DeerPrincesswlg Perhaps he was bitten by a dog that was chasing him in his neighborhood over and over and invented an argument to cover the real reason behind her killing the problems dogs in the story in addition to his fear of John Wick
I like how Jotaro rubbed in younger D'arby's face that his older brother would have seen through this trick. It shows that Jotaro at least have an ounce of respect for elder D'arby, unlike his younger brother which boasted that he is better and that he beat him up.
Well older D’Arby actually stayed calm and backup plans upon backup plans. He talked big and could back it up. This guy just completely falls apart under the slightest bit of pressure. If he tried to think outside the box instead of spamming his stand he would’ve had a fair shot at this.
@@retrohanska4441 nah, he straight up GUESSED and would tell you it was hermit purple to make you fear his stand more, thus fucking yourself over even more. Joseph is beyond troll, he is the enigma of the joestar lineage and by far the best survivalist.
I hope this scene reminds people that Hermit Purple isn't useless. Sure it's not some buff humanoid Stand with lots of punching power, but it fits it's user and has a lot of interesting abilities. Spirit imagery through cameras and television, being able to draw perfect maps of the surrounding area (and therefore find out different ways to trap your opponent as Joseph likes to do), being able to hijack and perfectly control various forms of technology (as this fight shows us) and a perfect conductor of a solar powered electricity that has a bunch of uses on its own... It's a pretty cool Stand when you think about it.
The Greater Ark I've seen countless people calling it useless. Some are joking but a lot of them actually believe it has no real uses beyond taking pictures, which this and other fights prove wrong. I personally find it to be an interesting and cool because of its abilities. It's not the strongest but it's definitely versatile.
Faruga I'd be more dissapointed if he got a strong stand that didn't feel like it fit with him as a character. Joseph and Dio are the only characters who we've seen in action prior to Stands being introduced, so I feel like Araki would have had to be more careful when deciding to give them these new abilities that would fit with their already established characteristics. I thought Hermit Purple was super lame at first myself, but when I actually stopped to think about it, it's the perfect Stand for Joseph Joestar. Sure it's not particularly strong, but it's the utility and different abilities that it has that makes it a great stand for Joseph. A psychic, personal hamon conductor that never runs out and can help him trap his opponents is great imo.
I believe that Joseph was genuinely surprised the first time because Jotaro's theory of D'arby reading his mind was correct. As soon as Joseph was the one playing, he saw how D'arby missed and was surprised that Jotaro's plan was working.
I love that he never changed the man was using hermit purple to hack in to the game and figure out how to read darbys movements to win that’s truly bizzare when you realize he always cheats somehow lol.
866 people and maybe a few bots came across this comment and liked it, it surprises me to see that none have words to take part in a comment that is yet a year old
Unshaved Stuff That's how I thought the Older D'Arby game should have went with Joseph. Joseph's known for trickery more than any character so far...and he gets outtricked in a moment where he should have shined.
gunswordfist Yeah that would have been better I love Part 3 I really do it's one of my favourite arcs in Anime (I do prefer Part 4 and 7 though) However I feel it could've used Jotaro losing more fights so other people had more time to shine
And likewise, D'arby Younger could have easily called Jotaro's poker bluff. The brothers would have had a much better chance if they had switched hobbies.
@@invenblocker Maybe but Older Darby was actually good at cheating as well, he also managed to beat the other two crusaders besides Avdol that challenged him before getting choked up due to Jotaro demanding information about Dio which was his ultimate fear. He probably would’ve called the bluff if it weren’t for Jotaro saying he wants information of Dio which meant if he lost then he would get probably ripped apart by Dio.
What I also really like about this battle is that it shows that younger darby has become too realiant on his stand. For example if he just played the game normally without cheating he could have beaten jotarou but he either did not think of this or he was afraid that if he played fair he would lose.
Based on the dialogue I'd guess jotaro respected the older d'arby more than the younger d'arby Maybe because dude actually nearly took them all out in a single game with little to no means of defeating him
Did he show you his moves? Captain Falcon: "YES! YES! YES! YES!" What was your reaction when you watch Guile gets ass beaten? M.Bison: "YES! YES! YES! YES!" Do you believe Darth Vader is your father? Luke: "NO! NO! NO! NO!"
D'Arby the gambler is so much cooler, his stand cant actually help him in competition and fighting and he was easily one of the biggest threats to Jojo and his gang.
Raymund Noodles Vanilla Ice was a large threat, hell, he killed Avdol and Iggy. Still though, D'Arby the gambler was LITERALLY a word away from taking out the whole group.
He was literally a word away from ending Jotaro's entire gang, he only lost because of fear of uncertainty. He should have trusted in his skills more, he was the closest any of the villains (Dio included) had come to eliminating all of them in one swoop.
And then you realize that Joseph actually know or at least predicted what D'arby stand power to read soul actually sound like to D'arby. Your stand next line is "Yes Yes Yes" Oh my god
...So THAT'S how he came up with that response. He predicted D'Arby's line and what he would hear in reply from Jotaro's soul. All this AFTER literally beating D'Arby at his own game. I don't think there's any recovering from that.
Joseph Joestar's still got it: without being able to perceive the effect of D'Arby's Stand from D'Arby's own perspective, he was able to discern that it operated by saying in that exact tone "YES YES YES"
D-Damn it! I don't get it. I don't know how, but your hair is how you are cheating! I'm right aren't I?! NO! NO! NO! NO! *gasp* Your trick is somewhere around here, right?! NO! NO! NO! NO! You're using Crazy Diamond to cheat, aren't you?! NO! NO! NO! NO! YOU RIGGED SOMETHING, DIDN'T YOU JOSUKE?! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
