In today's video, I talk about job interview red flags you should never ignore. Often as candidates, we are so happy to receive a job offer that we don't stop to think if we actually should accept the offer. Or, will accepting this job offer be a mistake and the company ends up being a horrible situation. It pays to watch for red flags during the interview process because it can help you determine the correct choice for you if you do end up getting a job offer extended to you at the end of the interview process.

Another HUGE one I go through ALL the time is whenever they act like they’re going to hire you. They will smile in your face, act extremely enthusiastic, even mention orientation, but as soon as you walk out those doors, they’ll forget all about you. 💯

It takes place in a group. One person or more could never comprehend so many different personalities all at the same time. It also shows how lazy they are as a company to do them individually. I even hate whenever people copy my answers. They say they want to “add on to what I said” just to repeat the EXACT same thing I just said. 😒👎🏽

Hi, Ben! Andrew Keener here. I absolutely agree with you on the length of the interview process. I've actually withdrawn my candidacy with companies for that exact reason. Also because they were radio silent for an extended period of time. I mean just pop off an email letting me know that you haven't forgotten about me.

Another is if they ask you why you left your last job or ask about your pet peeves regarding that. Just like with the law, anything you do or say will be held against you. If you say anything negative about your last job or in general, they will immediately disqualify you. That’s honestly why they always ask questions like that. That even applies to strengths and weaknesses. They will use your weaknesses against you too. They want to eliminate as many people as they can. 💯

I've seen all these red flags + like 30 others in my 20+ years career! All your videos are great, Ben!!

3 interviews max is my rule, Ben!! 1 or 2 has been the norm for me in my IT and Tech career! 4-12 interviews is crazy! Yes, I know people that went through 10, 11 and 12 interviews and non of them got the job! 😬😏

Great video! One comment stuck out to me - "family" vs. "team". Team I can get support - family is either false or they prioritize getting along with each other higher than pretty much anything else.

I’ve been through 6 stages for an entry level job. Phone Screen, 1st interview, phone assessment through third party, 2nd interview, assignment to understand company products with info they gave me, lastly a required PowerPoint about myself (even personal details) and why I’m good fit then spoke to each person individually after that in the same day.

They take way too long to do the interview. There were instances where they made us wait 1-2 hours. That shows that they don’t respect you nor your time. They stated that the interview was going to be a certain time just to not even fulfill that. 👎🏽💯

Hi Ben, can you do a video on how to pass an interview with the state of California? I’ve been to several interviews with the state but can’t seem to land a job offer

What different about California from an interviewing perspective? I’m not aware of anything. I know they some different employment laws but I’m unaware of anything them would make a huge difference in the way you prepare for an interview.

@@BenTalksTalent Hi Ben. The difference would be that they use a scoring system in order to not be bias. Each behavioral question is scored 1-5. The issue I’m having is that while focusing on trying to remember to talk about all the key points to get a high score it’s easy to ramble or forget some of them. Maybe others had similar experiences they can share and ways to overcome these barriers. Thank you

@@user-qs8jy3wd7k did you watch my video from yesterday? It’s all about behavioral interview questions. I feel like that is spot on to what you are describing.
