Some fun facts (Note these facts are with the ones I am most familiar with, feel free to add more if you want) -Unexpectables: 1.The joke about the character having a novel for a backstory is true. They have said he did alot. 2. The Tiefling in the beginning was referenced in the sorcerer video. There was art of him doing a powerslide near the beginning. 3. The Kobold that had the homebrew the player does in fact have homebrew he has made and can purchase on Dms Guild (dont worry, he has dm before so he wants it to be balanced) 4. Person with 3 eyes is MontyGlu, Dm to the Unexpectables 5. Person with the surfer accent, Octopimp, was a guest character in the Unexpectables -Dawn Right group: 6. Most of them are talented artists and a voice actor 7. The Dragonborn with a gun did happen, what's better, he's a blind Dragonborn 8. That was a possum who was played by the same person who played the kobold. --Osp:9. They are actually called Red and Blue 10. Blue focuses on talking about history while Red has a series called Troupe Talks talking about different troupes and she talks about several myths (might be worth checking out) --Tulock the Barbarian: 11. His whole channel is about making characters from fiction and making Dnd characters (hence the multiclass) --Jess Jackdaw: 12.He does art such as Dnd mash ups from pokemon to Scps (also something worth checking out) --Cami-cat: 13. That small part of the song was never intended to have a full version but eventually, one did come out. Runesmith, Davvy Chappy, Xp to level 3: All separate channels but all have Dnd content. Takahata101 plays on the D&D Series "The Unexpectables". Which is probably my personal favorite large D&D series out of all of them. JoCat was actually a guest star in The Unexpectables (which is something they occassionally do), and he pretty much brought almost the entire crew on for this episode (including Octopimp, who was the previous guest star before JoCat). Additionally, Edward Bosco, the Voice Actor of Alistor in Hazbin Hotel is currently a member of the main cast of The Unexpectables as well. I totally recommend The Unexpectables, it is a fantastic D&D campaign, and MontyGlu (Takahata101's sister) is probably one of my personal favorite DM's.

The animated spellbook is really great...

37:46 Yes. Conjure Animals (PHB pg. 225) is a 3rd level Conjuration spell. It allows you to summon eight beasts of challenge rating 1/4 or lower (or less beasts of higher CR). A Giant Poisonous Snake (MM pg. 327) is CR 1/4. If you cast the spell with a 9th level spell slot, you can summon x4 as many. Allowing you to summon 8x4 = 32 Giant Poisonous Snakes.

Side note: if you're really looking into trying out your first experience as a DM, I recommend throwing some creative situations at your players by creating weird and usual characters. Here's an example that's free to use: the party has been tasked to investigate a small village has recently become tortured by locals hearing voices in their heads with the grand reveal being that it's a Ghostwise Halfling with a few levels in Sorcerer using _invisibility_ to remain unseen. It's great because _see invisibility_ is an instant solution that more often than not goes unused.

Spongebob didn't do a fantasy episode. That image is from the episode Mid-Life Crustacean. Specifically, the montage in which Spongebob repeatedly asks "Are you feeling it now, Mr. Krabs?" For that particular moment, he asks, "Art thou feeling now, Mr. Krabs?" Also Blaine Simple is a vampire, so he'll quickly regen any damage he takes from eating his knife.

If you're going to do the Monster Hunter vids from JoCat, you need to go off of the "official" playlist he made himself, because they need to be seen in the correct order. XP to Level 3 has a pretty entertaining series on the possible D&D classes (the Cleric is my favorite) which are pretty fun.

As a first time dm, I don’t do nearly as much planning as others do. I just joy bullet points of what they’ll expect and maybe a few contingencies. Kinda helps that I’ve constructed the campaign in a way where they’re always on the move and time is of the essence

ok you asked about summoning 32 snakes. Here is what I found. (note this doesn't involve dice rolling, but it is what i found.) On page 225 of the players handbook is the druid, and maybe other class i didn't look, spell conjure animals. It allows you to summon 8 feys in the form of animals as long as the animal is 1/4 challenge rating. The challenge rating of a contrictor snake on page 305 of the same book is 1/4 challenge rating. (you can get 1 challenge rating 2, 2 challenge rating 1 or four challege rating 1/2 if you prefer but this is purely for numbers) As this is a level 3 spell it has the common trait of being able to get stronger if you use stronger spells, or as you might call them mage bullets. If you use a level 5 spell slot you get twice as many creatures. three times as many if it's level 7 or four times if it is level 9. Because of this if you use conjure animals with a level 9 spell slot it is entirely possible to summon 32 snakes in a single turn. There is also conjure minor elements that lets you do the same thing except with elementals, but it caps out at triple the amount for higher levels due it it being level 4 and the stronger ones using level 6 and 8 respectively. In addition to that there is conjure woodland beings which works the same as the minor elementals one except with feys instead of elements. All of them at their base spell use has the same amount of summons vs challenge rating. While not exactly what was shown in the video, as there is no dice rolling involved, it likely is what was used as it was 32 exactly which is the most amount of the weakest type you can summon.

I know this video has been out for a long time now, but I hope you see this. JoCat has an ongoing campaign called "Heart of Elynthi" and it is fantastic! Watch it in your own time, it is my personal favourite D&D series. I highly recommend it.

Oh yes! I want you to look at animated spellbook. Awesome animations with some nice sense of humor and you learn about some of the mechanics and spells in DnD!

Jocat's numerous little elaborate bits + Airier's insatiable curiosity is what turns what would've been a roughly 25 minute reaction into an almost 50 minute reaction. Side note, the fact Airier has this natural behavior of over-curiousness means they would make a great Tabaxi ;)

We see dice and our rational brain goes 'We don't need more dice!' Of course our goblin brain goes 'Ooh but the shiny rocks make wonderful clickity clack noises!' as we pocket MORE dice.

You should definitely react to the Gobboventures. There are only two short vids, so far, but still. You could include them with the redacted versions of some of the D&D classes (I believe that it's just the Cleric and Warlock - the redacted originals should be linked in the descriptions). Also the Crap Guide to Monster Hunter videos since they were what really got JoCat popular in the first place.

I've been waiting for this to give one recommendation: Cami-Cat "Life of a Bard." It's an animated full song adaptation based off the fragment of her "firbolg bard hits on Evilus Maximus" scene. She's actually done several original songs inspired by D&D as well as numerous covers and other originals, but this is a good one to go with here because it ties directly to this.

You saw that Gnome in the Crap Guide to D&D: Wizard. And they're a character of the Animated Spellbook series, which I'm also excited about that you're considering watching them. It honestly is a great series to watch especially if you play D&D as it clears up a lot of things and gives some good insight into how certain spells work. But yeah, you've seen him before, you may see more of him, guess we'll see ^-^

To your question with the 32 snakes: yes. It is possible. There is a spell called Conjure Animals, 3rd level druid (and possibly ranger) spell, That allows you to summon a certain amount of beasts based on their challenge rating and the level you cast it. Example: with the basic spell you are able to summon 8 animals with CR1/4 // 4 animals CR 1/2 // 2 animals CR 1 // 1 animal CR 2. When you use a 5th, 7th or 9th spellslot to cast this spell, the amount of animals are doubled/tripled/quadripled. And that can be extremely broken. A little story: our party once investigated a cave full of spiders. After cleaning it out and destroying the spiders nest, the spider queen showed up. After rolling initiative, my druid decided to cast Conjure Animals and summoned 8 wolves, surrounding the spider queen. Because, Pack tactics. And when the wolves got their turn, they ripped the boss apart. The encounter was designed as a miniboss by our DM, AC 19, 90 HP and lair actions. And the encounter was over after 2 rounds. Back to the video, a giant constrictor snake has a CR of 2, according to DND beyond. So it shouldn't have been possible for that guy to do it, unless he has some sort of item that allows him to do it. If they would have been regular Constrictor Snakes, 32 of them would actually be legit because their CR is 1/4.

Yes there is a way to get them with summoning spells Edit; but it differs with class for wizard I think it is a 3red tier spell but a 9th it is possible to get that meny snakes

They had a guest character for a while, The surfer dude Triton that’s actually played by Jocat and a character that seems to have now become a staple of the campaign that’s actually played by the guy who voices Alastair from hazbin hotel

Now imagine my face, when the kobold warlock sticked his Finger in the bag and then licked his Finger in an attempt to identify it, so now I had to come up with how to handle someone consuming _dust of dryness_ on the spot. I mean, there is an example in its description, but that is for how it'd affect an _water elemental,_ not a normal creature. My solution was: the CON-Save in the description and only 5d8 (or whatever it was) necrotic damage instead of 10d8. It was still enough to pull all the moisture out of him, sending him right into death saves.

Three pages: more detail, offer plot books based on your full backstory. 15+: the backstory, the family, the extended family, the neighbors, the town, the main crops, the trade system, myths and local legends (I still haven’t met a DM who will let me have a pet Tarrasque due to the origins of the French town of Tarrascon), my rival/enemy… My latest character is a fairy. If you think about watching Critical Role: they are making "Crit Recap Animated", which is basically an Abridged version of the season 2 of the show. It's only 3 of them for episodes 1-16 and they less than 12 minutes combined, so you can even make a reaction to them. Of course, it's nothing close enough to the show itself, but on the other hand: 133 episodes around 4 hours long each and still coming out weekly, so...

Honestly almost everything from “the barkeep ignores you” to “your target runs away” was totally justified outrage and I think he was right to be upset for that one “NOI’MNOTGOINGTODESCRIBEITAGAINFORYOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!”

The biggest problem of the game Jocat was running was mainly everyone kinda just ran over him and each other.
