Visit www.InsideTheMagic.net/d23expo for much more coverage from the 2011 D23 Expo! At the 2011 Disney Legends ceremony, held at the D23 Expo, Jodi Benson performed "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid after accepting her award.
Jacinth Sabado She was like 28 but it doesn't matter, I agree she can still sound so young (she did sound ~16 when she played Ariel) - an excellent actress :3
Bella K never have i wanted to be the antagonist until i saw your comment! Haha i’m sure we all do, that voice is so soothingly calm, so alluring like a real 🧜♀️
I second the previous comment. As a cartoon/animation, she cannot be replaced. However, I truly believe that if taking "childhood" and "originality" away... Halle's version brings more connection to the song and really make you believe she is really feeling what she is singing.
@@th3ch3ss Well, I think jodi better expresses Ariel’s curiosity and sense of youth🤔Halle’s version makes me feel like she has been through a lot.But of course both Jodi and Halle sing soooo well.
I love her facial expression she does to convey how Ariel felt in the moment of this scene. I’m excited for the new little mermaid but this movie changed *everything*. Thank you Howard, Alan & Jodi!! You all defined an era.
I have no idea why everyone loves Let it Go so much. I personally prefer the reprise of "For the first in forever". Let it Go simply doesn't sound like a Disney song. Too "pop-ish"
I have high hopes for Moana. Since they chose a total unknown, I'm very hopeful that her voice will be something special. If they chose her simply for her nationality, well, that will be somewhat disappointing.
+Gary Woods II It's not as pristine as it was 20 years ago. It was of key, and pitchy in this performance. At parts. Still beautiful, and this song is just amazing!
I’m know it’s hard right now but you’ll be reunited with her one day. And she’ll show you the treasure trove of heaven with more dingle hopper thing a mabobs than you could ever imagine. Up where she walks. Up she’s run. Her halo glistening all day in the sun. You’ll both be free and again she’ll be...part of your world.
And my fav undersea toys are Disney princess Ariel/little mermaid and mermaid Barbie dolls, a submarine, a cruise ship, a toy boat and plush aquatic animals or/and sea creatures
Im 34 male and i almost never cry...im tearing up hard ..ill admit it. Maybe because it reminds me when I was nine and nothing was terrible in the world.
krosis. also not trying to do voices that will strain or damage your vocal chords. Look at Jessica Calvello she damaged her vocal chords doing "Excel Saga" and now she can't play characters with high pitched voices.
@@icecreamhero2375 Nah my Dad's almost 70 and still sounds exactly like he did when he was 30 something and has sounding the same my whole life(though he certainly looks his age now). It's mostly genetics and not smoking. Hopefully I also have those same genes.
Mike the best do you know what that magical feeling is called? nostalgia. great modern disney films have the same amount of magic as the old ones, you're just blinded by nostalgia to see it.
Mike the best I never said it's nostalgia if you don't like Frozen. I said it's nostalgia if you hate on a new film while comparing it to an older film that is critically inferior. There's a difference.
Mike the best exactly. Which is not a valid reason to criticize a film in front of people. I can understand if you say you don't like the plot or anything like that, but saying older films are better is not a good enough excuse to criticize it.
There's a sweet story about Ilene Woods who voiced Cinderella, as when she went to the premiere with her family her daughter would point at Cinderella on the screen and say "That's my mummy!" and an older lady, not knowing who the little girl, was remarked to her friend, "Isn't that sweet, that little girl thinks Cinderella is her mother!" and she really was :)
You can tell in the exact moment she starts singing, she becomes Ariel. He eyes and hair and facial expressions says it all. It's glad to see after 3 Little Mermaid movies she can still do it! Love you Jodie!
Jess Fae I think that also has to do with the fact that she was a Broadway performer before voicing Ariel. She said she had a problem giving the character emotion when voicing at first.
Frostfire613 That was the movie adaptation of my life that you're talking about. I have been reborn and am enjoying my iPhone 6+ in place of the antiquated Palantirs.
Saruman the White I understand that the movie got your death wrong, but do you mean to tell me that the books we have now, which were recorded from the Red Book of Westmarch, written by Peregrin Took, a bystander when you were killed, are also wrong?
Saruman the White I realize that you are much older than me, and much wiser, so please forgive my impertinence, but why would you have been sent back? Gandalf was sent back by the valar so that he could complete his mission; but you betrayed your mission. There is no reason for you to be sent back, is there?
The last chorus where she sings "when's it my turn?" is well produced. Even though Imma straight 40 year old man and have little in common with Ariel, that chorus makes feel like there's something on the horizon beautiful enough to keep living for. 😮
Wow she is the only one that her voice did not changed. Actually I love her the most. Little Mermaid ahhh such an amazing childhood memories. Tears in my eyes. Wish all this to come back.
The people saying the words to the song in the back made me smile so much. Saying “Feet” and “Street” ... what made me simile more is ... they were adults! They were probably young children when the movie came out and couldn’t help but finish the song with Jodi ... it made them feel like children again :)
Ariel 😢❤❤❤❤ This is making me so emotional but this rendition is beautiful and with the new version out, just wanted to circle back and show appreciation for this classic! 🧜🏻♀️
Whoa, she sounds beautiful, exactly like the movie! She really, really acts the song. I'm actually crying. I just commented on the Broadway version saying that I wasn't sure Jodi's version of the song would work well onstage... I was SO WRONG.
I love both version of the song. They both have beautiful voice. But when I hear Jodi's voice it brings back childhood memories. 🥲 I will definitely support both versions of the movies. 👏🏽😊
Oh yeah, the Belle one just made me so warm inside. I showed it to my mom because she loves beauty and the beast just as much as I do, she of course liked the video.
It's truly amazing! Jodi Benson is in like her 60s at this point, and she still has that EXACT same beautiful voice that she gave Ariel almost 40 years ago!
It's amazing how Disney brings people from all different ages together... It makes everyone feel young again, and adds the same nostalgic feeling to the kids. That's why I love it so much.
Gosh, when the music drops out and it's just her and she's totally nailing it, and then the one or two awkward shutter sounds...and then even the photographers realize they're ruining a moment
2:59 truly touched my heart. I remember Ariels voice sounding so sad cause she hoped she could be above the sea. In this, I could really tell Jodi was bringing that back.
The Lionking musical is sending me video clipsess because I am helping them by letting people know where their items are at & I throw up all my lionking on Brodway Shirtsess out of love for The Lionking on Brodway & Walt Disney & I have the lionking on Brodway CD/DVD & Walt Disney The lionking part1&2 Tapsess & DVD & all of Walt Disney Tapsess & DVD & Teenage mutant ninja turttles tape

Ariel was the rebel princess, and went after what she wanted. lol. but there were only a few blood princesses: Ariel, Aurora, Rapunzel, Jasmin, and Snow White.
I think Jodi’s version is relatable to me cuz of childhood nostalgia. I prefer hers, maybe cuz the originality it brings. Too used to the old versions of Disney princess I suppose 😅 Halle’s is more towards the new version of Disney princess. She has great voice, don’t get me wrong. But I grew up listening to Jodi’s version.
Never be apologetic for speaking the truth. The new movie is hot trash, did you hear that atrocious rap song they added. They blemished the original big time.
@@triniscout I totally understand that people prefer the original and bristle at the live-action version. But this new movie wasn't made for you. It's for a new generation who love it. Halle is their Ariel.
