I think the most amazing thing about the debt deal is the length of time we won't have to hear about debt limit. Biden masterfully removed a whole topic from the 24 campaign.

Huh? I don't understand your point. Biden AGREED that EVERYTHING except Defense would decrease. He also agreed that every increase in Defense would be offset by a decrease in stuff that helps people. And he agreed to forego Executive Action completely in that it would be subject to budget rules. So, Biden gained the ability to increase Defense spending, to decrease helpful spending, and to decrease taxes on the wealthy. Tell me how ANY of that is helpful. What. Did. Biden. Gain?

I’m always a big proponent in giving people respect, even/especially when they’re your enemy. McCarthy, as incompetent, arrogant, and pathetic he may seem, has managed to last this long despite everything. We should not underestimate him the way we do not underestimate Biden.

Honestly, thats why I voted for him! We need someone with experience, someone who knows how to hire the right people, someone who has seen almost any problem that we can think of. Nothing that happens in the US is new, we have had the right wing be emboldened numerous times in history, then "the people" put them down. Then the left wing will get out of hand, then "the people" will put them down. People forget "We the People" are the ultimate check on the government.

And guilt- tripped them as it's pretty unchristian . They didn't have a lot of support for workfare even from their ( Trump) base. I'm not sure most people don't care about the debt limit even if they don't understand it fully they do understand that a debt has to be paid and they and their children and grandchildren are on the hook for that bill. I think this is an issue that can easily be exploited precisely because the average citizen doesn't understand that government debt is not the same as personal debt.
I have a neighbor who still laments her decision to not support Clinton because she assumed Trump wouldn't win anyway and she wanted the satisfaction of saying, well, I didn't vote for her. And Trump won... 😬

See infrastructure, which really really really is sub-standard in the US I must say (as Dutchy) It's not because of the size of the country in many cases, a bridge in NYC should get funded as much as they do in France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgi....oh wait...Ita...oh never mind. You get the point, and while Belgium is just a failed state (ex Netherlands) to begin with, the viaduct in Italy that crashed down a year of 4 or 5 ago, was partly due to corrupt people and the maffia. Which of course happened in the US decades ago, but not that I know, did they safe money on using poor quality concrete/steel? Anyone knows, around the Hoffa time or earlier/later. Wouldn't ending birthright citizenship immediately make 99% of Americans illegal? The vast, VAST majority of people didn't "earn" their citizenship, they were born here, to parents who may or may not have been born here, etc. Wouldn't that make Donald Trump himself an illegal immigrant?
Here's an idea for testing the 14th amendment argument without breaching the x date; once Congress passes a budget that would take us over the debt limit, just issue the debt immediately. That way we've hit the ceiling but still have funds on hand for some time until the issue goes through the courts. So long as Congress authorized the spending the 14th amendment can be put into play.

Although she is unquestionably an exceptionally fine representative, the fact that Barbara Lee places her respect for Dianne Feinstein (and Ms Feinstein's decision to remain in the Senate despite her obviously debilitating condition) above her respect for the People is yet another point against Representative Lee as a candidate for the Senate. The People of California deserve a fully functioning Senator and, despite the admirable work Senator Feinstein has done historically, it is long past time for her to retire. This interview makes clear that Adam Schiff is the right candidate for Senate.

Raising the age of work requirements is stupid. The hours should be changed from 20 to 30. Don’t make old people work, make young adults work something closer to adult hours.
I want Biden to require metric on the cost to taxpayer for policy. Put a ticker and live dashboard online and CSPANN. Congress needs to show up. Their refusal to do job and show up for things they don’t like needs accountability.
