im a metalhead. This is not my usual type of music. But my dad used to love this song and we always listened to it together. He died on leucemia 2 years ago. I really miss him and sometimes i listen to this song to remember him. Thank you, Joe.
Brother you don’t mourn alone. My mom passed December 2019 and I continue to grieve. Perhaps listening to “The Blues” doesn’t help. Joe is an awesome talent. His music is therapy for me. Most time when I listen I cry, but I’m not sad. In fact I’m grateful for my life’s experiences and those that have influenced me. Joe B is good medicine.
Hey Leonfox. Lost both my parents as well. Not that it matters. I am glad you have found some other music in your your journey. I am a metal-head as well , but found the blues in the 90`s when grunge came around. It`s healthy to explore other genres. I truly hope that your loss is weakining when years pass by. A good old fashioned hug comes your way from Norway. Stay positive brother :)
Did you learn? I am 70 and really want to learn. Hope Santa will bring the 🎸!! I still have a bit of a voice left - ready to put them together. Thanks for the inspiration Joe Bonamassa!!
I know... I'm 63 and this man gets into my soul. I am so moved it makes me want to learn to play as well. Too funny there's someone else feeling the same way.
This song is one of my very favorites, moving me through one of the biggest changes of my life at almost 60. Thank you, Joe Bonnamasso, for the luxury of feeling alive again!!! MUCH LOVE and gratitude!
Joe’s has did such a great job refining his vocals over the years. He’s now one of the best singers out there. With his guitar skill he’s a living legend.
My wife and I go every year. It’s not easy for us as were are both disabled. Irregardless we make it happen. Always row one. One show we front row center. Like they say every dog has his day.
Was with my brother in Durham 2 years ago in February. This is my brother's favorite Bonamassa song. I was so glad he played this. I'm a dancer. Taught dance my whole life. Almost 50 yrs. My brother who has not one ounce of rhythm in his whole body just started moving when Joe played this. It was so amazing. It made his whole night. My brother took me, my mom and my sister in law out for a beautiful dinner and this concert. Incredible memory. Sorry for the small novella. Lol
Never apologize for a beautiful memory like this. I for one am impressed and delighted that you have brother that is that generous and family he must love, appreciates and is close to. Refreshing to hear that these days. You are a lucky woman...indeed. 👍
@@marvinshook5163 I am so grateful to have a brother like that and also sad that a brother like him is an anomaly rather than the norm. If I told you just what a wonderful person he is you might think I was exaggerating. But he is as beautiful a person inside as I've ever known. And he never tells people about the kind things that he does, he just does them. You know on the other hand I'll tell everybody I gave you a nickel LOL
@@pamelacairns289 Now I know he is indeed a special brother as well as individual. Those qualities are hard to find in this younger generation of instant gratification, selfishness, respect and lost values of what really matters in life that money can't buy. Lol, but this about Joe and I have just recently become a fan and I especially like Slow Gin. Grew up with Clapton, SRV, BBK, Hendrix etc. Don't understand why i wasn't aware of him. So glad I am now...!
@@marvinshook5163 explore and explore his music. I haven't found anything i didn't like. Totally loving the Royal Tea album. And if you get a chance to see him in concert, run don't walk. You will fully appreciate all the more.
This is a textbook example of how to build a solo. Absolutely amazing in every way. Joe’s tone is incredible. The band sounds awesome...this is so perfect on so many levels!
Iv bin the biggest Hendrix fan all my life but watching Joe play live for the last 20 years. He's a professional guitarist to perfection. The Altimit professional
+Sam Williams : I live in Belfast and the only 2 times I have seen JB I had to fly to Spain: Cartagena and Murcia. He did play once in Belfast at the `Limelight` but I missed him.
I didn’t discover Joe until 2016, 8 years after my beloved husband died from cancer. My biggest regret is that he never had the chance to experience Bonamassa . He would have loved it. He loved Clapton, Gary Moore and BB King. Now when I listen to Joe’s music it’s bittersweet. I wish I could have shared my love of Joe’s music with him. Life isn’t fair by any means.
I'm sure he's listening to this now and wishes he was there with you, that time will come; look forward and give thanks to the one above knowing that you will meet him again.
Life is not fair. But that old adage is fatalistic. The fact is, life is short and no one gets out alive. It’s up to us to make the most of all the time we get. So make your choices wisely. Rejoice in the fact that you found the incredible musical talent that is Joe Bonomassa. Go see him in concert. Take a friend with you, perhaps someone who has never heard of Joe. It’s a show you’ll never forget. Your late husband would want you to live your life and if he loved the blues, he would definitely approve of Joe Bonomassa!!! 🎸☮️
I totally understand. Joes music has healed me for a long time. I want everyone I know to experience his music like I have. I dont just listen, I feel it.
Sharon Schmidt I think so too. How can they nail every note while playing with such soul??!! It's almost unbelievable! Lots of hard work in evidence, here. Much respect!
Did You hear of Andy Timmons? Eric Gales? They all have their own unique styles....People tell Me, I'm Not bad Myself......Got some Videos up as well.... Check Em Out......Blues Jimi Hendrix.....Cream...Classic Rock.....Pink Floyd...
When it comes to music or the arts, there’s never just one “greatest “, it’s too subjective. It’s all about what we like, what speaks to us, what we can relate to. I’m a HUGE fan of JB. I love that I can listen to his music over and over and not tire of it. We had the pleasure of seeing him live a few years ago, took our son (25 years old at the time). He comment after was ‘He didn’t play anything I didn’t like’. That’s a great compliment.
music is subjective, in my opinion Stevie Ray Vaughn is the greatest guitarist ever. I just love the way he played. He matched Albert King note for note when he was an up and comer to the blues world.
This is a reminder that though we just lost EVH, there are still other amazing guitar players who are still with us. Joe is the perfect example. This song is haunting to me and one of my favorites. Thank you Joe for your gift!!!
Been hearing about him for years, just recently started listening. Saw a live show. He single-handedly rekindled my love for music. And this song... written for me. 2nd verse gives me chills.
Blake Faz try this version, its the Live at Royal Albert Hall. In my opinion, this one isnt even close to the LARAH version. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Z-EfcQeifc.html Check it out!
I discovered Joe about 10 years ago. Watched his bio, wow! A child prodigy. Opened up for BB King when he was just 7years old. Seen him live twice in Florida. The man is a guitar GOD. Tickets were over $100 a pop, but well worth it. Bought both of his DVD's. What's your favorite?
Living in Holland i didn,t know this Guy ... untill yesterday listen to music on RU-vid this is the real shit... haring goosebumps touches the soul so deep .. just lating down and overthink my life😉👍
Joe is a child prodigy in progress. But, driven by talent, passion, and support, he has risen to the top of the list. I see every great guitarist in his work. He has paid attention to the roots. He knows who to give credit to, and follows up with respect and appreciaton. I've seen him twice and was totally in shock and awe. All I knew of blues mainly was SRV. I'd love to see Joe do a few Hendrix/SRT interpretations. That would up the notch in his cover works. wow This man will never be forgotten amonst the very best. Long live JB.
I've seen him in concert twice as well. And yes, you can almost taste the flavors of SRV ,Jimmy, in his playing. He definitely respects the guitar GODS. Long live JB!
Saw his 2017 show at Red Rocks. When he makes that fret run in Sloe Gin at timestamp 2:11 I get goosebumps. He can make that Les Paul live to it's full potential. Gibson should be proud that this man loves their equipment.
Yeh...this is my current story...66 yr. old retiree...relocating to the Gold Country in Calif. It looks like "loneliness" is everywhere. I saw Joe last Nov. in Stockton, CA....he is my current "guitar hero"...I love him and I love how he plays. My guidelines are pretty high...he follows Johnny, Jimi, Stevie, Eric, Alvin, … I love Joe...and how he plays the blues. He is the "current blues master!"
amazing how asking 1 he is in marking all guitar 🎸 and he plays early and never stopped .Best too with Beth Hart ❤ pot and tea will not be a accessory all his great times and I hope to listen And see what happens Blessings Joe
Joe was a great guitar player when SRV was alive . It isn't like he just popped out of nowhere . he has been playing professionly since he was 12 or 13 yrs, of age . Sorry if this comes out like i'm mad . I just know for a fact that he's been around doing music like this for quite a while . Once again I'm not mad just setting things a little bit straighter .
One of his best performances in my opinion. Can never go wrong with this guy. He's really got legendary status. I only wish I could have HALF the charisma he has in his pinkie finger.
The older I’ve gotten, the more appreciative I’ve become of true talent.. It usually comes from time, life’s experiences and a search for peace. For me anyway
Quando le mani suonano col cuore,è impossibile non emozionarsi....potrei riascoltarla milioni di volte,e ogni volta un'emozione indescrivibile...solo pochi possono tanto,Grande Joe. Grazie❤❤
I have been a huge Bonamassa fan for about 4 years now. I have yet to see a video live performance that wasn't fantastic. Saw him live and he blew me away ! Best concert I have ever witnessed! He is simply amazing and his band is so Tiiiiggghtt! Love him and his team !
Actually God decided to merge the soul of Gary Moore, BB, Stevie Ray, Johnson and all other Kings and tried someth8ng new in this modern Indian reincarnation stuf into a new Joe. Consider the name ... God seems to be pretty pleased with himself ... Me 2 ... 😆🤣
Wow!!!!! The gifts that we are given by some of the most amazing musicians and artist and just don't even realize it...music.... The gift that just keeps on giving....
The Organist puts a haunting touch on the song. I've heard this song without the organ and its still great but, its missing a little something that leaves a void. All in all , world class musicians all of them.
Just started working on this backing track, it’s just got so much soul, you need perfect touch and control over the speed of the entire song. Blues at its finest!
I would do a thousand miles to see it again ... then still thousands more miles, until the end of my days. As long as my life goes on, I would like to travel and play Sloe Gin, get to the next concert and see it again ... thanks Joe !!
I cant stand the thought of as gentle~man as you that dayumed lonely...that tenderness in your pure voice you know lonely is much worse than alone. And that dayumed guitar just sings right along with you... heartfelt! Maybe soon you can have all your desires fulfilled... n'er know. I believe... faith is a fine word & a good thing to have... you knock me OUT! WHOA!
Joe Bonamassa you’re the greatest just started listening to you four months ago. You brought me back from the dead. Had a bad month of medication and went to easy way and pointed a gun to my head and pulled the trigger on pistol I forgot to put furring pin bsck in. Where there on purpose or accident it save my life. It was just about the time you played in Omaha and I miss your concert. So I turned you and RU-vid . I listen to his set of yours.. And decided it was a wrong way out. So thank you very much I will continue to listen to music the rest my life so play on. Knowing your music has made a difference
Maybe I feel more guilt than I should, but I only had to drive about 15 miles through really light traffic the last time I went to see Joe in Ohio. The show was great and the date was happy I took her. I feel like maybe I didn't suffer enough...like maybe I didn't pay enough dues to enjoy the blues.
This guy and his mates are without a doubt the best group of musicians of all time and I have seen pretty much all of them. In a word ---- spectacular!
2:05 The guitar scream. 4:25 The thunderous guitar intro. 6:22 The drummer legs! 6:35 The bassist. 8:00 the legendary pick up selection that made me fall in love with this guitar in the first place! The change in the tone to pure Rock awesomeness is marvelous! 8:20 the drummer legs, yet again!
