The restraints of the church hierarchy create molesters. Everyone needs love and affection, when you restraint a person for their entire life of having any sort of romantic relationship with a women, they will grow up to feel like they missed out on their youth, because of that, they have a empty hole to fill(no pun intended). Willingly or unconsciously they molest boys beacause its the easiest ones to prey on, they can no longer prey on adult females. Parents trust them. Sick paradox.

As a child you can't give consent, but freezing and a feeble protest makes me feel responsible. After broken relationships and self destructive behaviour I've found a girl I can be vulnerable. Nah for real, I’m 33 and I remember when I was in high school, there was a teacher who we ALL knew was a pedophile, and the general attitude among my peers was basically: make sure you don’t find yourself alone with him. We always used to joke about it, and we told teachers but they wouldn’t believe us of course because he was a colleague of theirs. This was a very small, secular school. Idk why it didn’t become more than something to laugh about sooner, but his luck did run out when a kid had evidence and his parents filed suit against the school. Anyway, the point is, yeah, we felt like it was our own job to prevent that shit, and when it happened to some kid, it was just kinda like... well! Sucks for you 😆😂🤣🤣🤣👉. I’m not saying that is the correct approach, we were teenagers ffs.

I went to Catholic elementary school and the pastor (that's how we called the priests in Indonesia) was always so distant from the kids. The nuns are the ones who were actively interacting with us. And they are the strictest monsters, but they never gets physical.
My friend’s father said when he was a kid, he punched a priest in the face and ran away when he tried to put him on his lap. Hearing that now, it makes me think he narrowly avoided being molested.

I have a cousin that actually went to Rome/ vatican for some sort of training /internship and he never came back to his country , later we found out he dropped the Catholic Church, and now has two kids … the strange fact is that he never went back to colombia and never told anyone his story … something really bad happened in Rome for him to avoid his family
The reason they said they couldn’t be married was so 1) so they could pass money on to kids 2) so that Pope’s couldn’t pass their position on to their kids. On another note, family’s were so proud when a son was going to seminary. To have a child go was such an honor. In stricter Catholic families you either go to Seminary or get married. I think men who were/are gay went to seminary to hide that fact and were never going to marry.

A priest at an old church I went to was similar, was just always to handsy and physical with kids and it was brushed off as he's a kind old man, nothing was ever confirmed but I always kept a distance just because I saw how he acted with kids

Wow that’s awful. Rest assured, he’s suffering more than you rn. Please seek therapy if you haven’t, there are some great trauma focused therapies that help people in your situation. EMDR and brain spotting are just two types. You need to process the trauma and move past it as much as you can. Good luck

Its just the age of the boys. Now we teach our kids to tell someone ans its wrong. Back then they were throwing signs out and where shut down by the parents. " happy hands" would have been questioned today. A little boy who is molested is likely to act it out as an adult and become a predator. We've got to stop the cycle. Even one sign with my son and im asking detailed questions. Maybe one day pedos will be far and few between.
It's just how such things were thought of years ago. Not nearly as much was known or understood about the kind of things that actually happened and the effects it had on people for their whole lives, as is understood today. When I was young, paedophiles were referred to as "kiddie fiddlers". Sounds quite light-hearted, and I think a reflection of society's ignorance at the time.

I’m from England, my family aren’t religious but my stepdad came from a catholic family when he was younger and he can’t stand to hear anything about perverted priests, he turns anything off on the tv and walks right out the room. A friend of mines' little brother hanged himself, supposedly doing a "magic trick"....he was a choir boy in the Catholic church. I then started receiving these weird, disgusting phone calls. I told my parents about it and we caught him !! Turns out he was the Catholic Church's priest. All they did was transfer him, and my Dad told the Chief of Police & the Church to keep him away from children. Many years later I told my Dad about my friend's brother and we pieced it together...... The poor boy had been abused and was ashamed and/or confused. I always wonder if all of these innocent children go right to heaven. Some people say only God can create and take life. Do people who commit suicide go to hell? Definitely not him....
