Bro it’s the same with me and Jon Jones, he just keeps loosing and coming back loosing and coming back it’s incredible his ability to recover from al l
I disagree I think the one who keeps wining is the point of the game. If I were given a choice of only wining or losing and coming would definitely be winning all the time.
mohammed almani it’s a grey area for me, obviously if you could win everything then that’s the peak, but at least Conor wins when he comes back after a loss, once her or anyone else loses after the comeback and starts to lose more than they win that’s when it’s like eeeehhh 👀
They are literally the fighting Irish. Conor has single handedly enhanced Irish pride ten-fold globally. In America, where the Irish are prominent and have immense history, it shows. Irish pride is unlike any other. And Conor embodies large parts of their pride such is fighting, drinking, partying, talking shit -- all while being the best at his profession.
Conor didn't enhance Irish pride. Irish pride has always been and will always be massive and eternal. Irish people weren't less proud before Conor nor will they be after he retires. Didn't increase anything tenfold, he just became a MMA fighter to rally around for the Irish, so he sort of became a conduit of already existing Irish pride.
@@TheTaterTotP80 To say he hasnt increased their pride is you cumming in my coffee and calling it creamora. Just by an Irish man breaking records and inspiring Irish kids on such a global level enhances Irish pride. Of course the Irish were always prideful. But Conor has brought this mystical Irish takeover quality. He has Irish people uniting to embrace their culture in arenas and cities they nornally wouldnt have. He is to Ireland what Trump is to a conservative. A voice, a shining beacon and a representative of millions.
Keith Witt what do you mean he didn't mean anything? He is insinuating that connors conquer of the UFC resonates in the Irish people as their want to conquer the powers that oppressed them; Conquering anything at this point that gives their country validity in a global scale
coco nut You do understand that 4 million Irish people died/left the country during the famine because the British took our crops? We were fucked under British ruling. Best thing we ever did was to become independent.
I understand that Russel probably didn't mean to use the word 'myth' to imply that the English oppression of Ireland is fictional , but I want to point out to those who mightn't know that Ireland was savaging ruled by the English for hundreds of years and that is still extremely fresh in the minds of many Irish people , including myself
True but we have to Remember we invaded them first when they were still Saxons and even took over small parts like Wales and even parts of Scotland while the picts were still there Uk and Ireland both have their faults these past 800 or so years England was just much more cruel
That's not what he meant by myth. He meant "myth" as in legendary, mythical qualities. Conor personifies the spirit of the "Fighting Irish", and that image takes the form of an Irishman "standing up" to British oppression.
The Irish, we follow our own blood. Similar to how the Icelandic folk follow and support their own. We'll travel in droves to see a fellow Irish man fight, compete whatever the case may be. I'm not a huge Russel Brand fan but he's almost certainly correct about our psyche of being oppressed. A psyche where we've always felt we were the underdog. He's bang on the money when he mentioned conor capturing a particular mood in our country during his rise. We had experienced the hardest recession in human history. I remember most of my mates father's being made redundant and other friends losing homes from 2007 right through to 2013. Even two lads from my school lost their dads to suicide things got so bad. Conor was another lad from a lower middle class family chasing a dream during this time. We saw our own push for greatness and we were subsequently uplifted by his performances. I had always been an Iceman fan and finally took up mma when I saw Conor perform in cage warriors having played rugby since I was 6 years old. He grew up a 2-3 miles from where I live so to me he was just another lad from around the corner but with an exceptional story to be told. People who write malicious or hateful things on the Internet about Conor ultimately are the minority. The millions of views he gets across all social media platforms outweighs the spiteful nonsense that goes on behind the big picture. He couldn't care less what you say about him as long as you're talking about him. Undoubtedly he's a polarising figure. Last year I started watching the NBA and I saw the same trend around LeBron James and Stephen Curry. You can see it on gaming channels as well. I'm no psychologist so I'm not going to breakdown why people hate Conor but they are no different to the rest of the haters in other sports/disciplines, more people are inspired by him than those who wish to bash his character and that's just a fact and you aren't 'woke' if you believe otherwise. You're entitled to discredit his achievements but you're just a drop in the ocean.
Hey Russell ''the myth of the Irish people as being oppressed by British colonialism'' is not a myth, it was a fact for 800 years and its still not over. Where's that cork when you need it.
if the majority of northern ireland wanted to join the republic a democratic vote would be held and they would be allowed to but the majority dont and the majority of the south dont want the responsibility of the north either but keep being a professional victim well done!
@@jonnfury6620 the guy is definitely more knowledgeable then I am. A word smith, but saying so much to say so little at times is a bit draining. His questions at times are longer then the answers he receives.
Myth has two meanings and the context of this was that Russell did not mean Irish oppression was a falsehood, but that it resonates in us like a legend, or it's part of our lore.
brownsey1 I dunno man, it's a dangerous thing to say, that the oppression was a falsehood, it's hard to digest as an Irish man, especially when they'res still Orange Men marching up in the North.
Robert Gray we’re not blaming you, or your son but you have to understand and learn about Britain’s crimes , not just against us Irish, but a good amount of countries in Africa Asia and South America. Especially when we’ve still got orange men celebrating catholic slaughters up north.
It's so cool how celebrities look up to McGregor, he is truly their celebrity, they line up at locker room after a loss , just to meet him , fucking amazing
Conor loses 2 fights, one wasn't even a mma fight. and he gets all this hate, I don't understand it, those loses shouldn't overshadow all of his greatness, because he has done great things and you cannot deny it, Conor will just jump back up and keep fighting
Off the top of my memory, Conor has something like 4 loses. 1 joe duffy 1 nate diaz 1 floyd mayweather 1 khabib nurmagomedov Still one of the absolute greatest fighters the UFC has known. The details are in the stat numbers.
Conor is such a bad ass fighter but What russell says at the very end people will never be able to comprehend and will just move past it without truly thinking about it but it is absolutely masterful how he puts all that into perspective and the way he's able to speak about it I couldn't put it into words like he just did I really believe if we lived in a world like he just explained some very magical things would happen

Would love to see an update 2022 podcast with you and Russel I feel like you both are on the same level these days on how you think and believe and could be very interesting for everything currently going on. Even if it’s you on his show or him on yours would love to see it.
Hmmm...I understand McGregor is being fast tracked and hyped by the UFC. But having watched his old fights I do think people are being too quick to label him as overrrated. If he still had the same ability, but was not a global star, I think everyone would have more appreciation for his skills.
That's not what he meant by myth. He meant "myth" as in legendary, mythical qualities. Conor personifies the spirit of the "Fighting Irish", and that image takes the form of an Irishman "standing up" to British oppression.
Home boy should have more substance for how many words are pouring out of his mouth. Reminds me of those guys who are waiting for you to finish so they can talk some more.
Joe Rogan mentioned the captivity that mcgregor bestowed upon not only people around the world but his people. I remember watching these events play out years ago and Mcgregor truly was a somewhat of patriarch figure for the Irish people for those 4 years I mean it was truly unbelievable and breathtaking.
He is a bit of a unicorn after all lol got finished by Nate Diaz and Floyd Mayweather maybe when they talk about his greatness they are referring to his ability to talk rather than his fighting ability and cardio
Thank You Its easy to forget he had a 15 fight win streak before Nate finished him. His fighting skill is unquestionable. He just got gassed with Mayweather and Diaz
I’m not the most intelligent person but I can follow Russels dialogue. He has a large vocabulary, which as a hiphop fan is always amazing and keeps your brain active
The "walk" is all about achieving a state of relaxation. It's not about peacocking or anything like that. It's getting your body ready to be explosive. Smooth is FAST!
That's not what he meant by myth. He meant "myth" as in legendary, mythical qualities. Conor personifies the spirit of the "Fighting Irish", and that image takes the form of an Irishman "standing up" to British oppression.
The answer is a quot from the gladiator movie. "I wasnt the best because I killed quickly, I was the best because the crowd loved me". Conor is the best coz the crowd loves him. Plus the dominant way he beats his opponents. He has NEVER had a boring fight. Win, lose or draw
Mcgregory didn't win shit against mayweather. Mayweather let him tire himself before beating him. The man was 40 years old, retired, barely trained for the fight. It was a circus money fight. Mayweather was going 50%. Imagine a 29 year old mayweather going 100%.
Jesus D Mac that is a fucking stupid comment, worse than the one above! Bhaagul I reckon that a guy that retired 2 years ago is far more capable of competing at something than a guy who retired from the same thing 15 years ago! There is not one fighter in mma that would beat floyd in a boxing match and theres isnt one mma fighter tha woukd lose an mma match to him he'd make cm punk look good in an mma fight!
No explanation. Allow me to retort. He didn't make money through traditional capitalistic means, but rather through his skill as a storyteller. This is a rarity, virtually no one else with the possible exception of other very successful stand-up comedians or authors have made vast sums of money through storytelling. Storytelling would be popular no matter what system of government we live under, capitalist or socialist - actually probably more so under a socialist system because the arts would be more valued. Was Russel Brand born into wealth? no. Did he get it through occupations linked to capitalism? no. Has he spoken out against having more money than he needs and politically tried to change the system unlike other rich people? yes. Has he used his time to help the underprivileged? yes. Has he used his money to help the underprivileged? unclear, but definitely partly.
taylor kxng as a pure boxer he wasn't.. but he transcended boxing and that's what makes him amazing. Athletes who transcend their sport make them goat contenders
Fucking Nate Diaz...the man is not relevant any more! It would definitely not be the biggest fight ever in the UFC. IF Nate would've fought after their last fight with Conor and won some real contenders, it would probably be the biggest fight and would also make sense. Now it doesn't make any sense because we have legit guys in line waiting like Lee, Ferguson and Khalabeeb.
