I've been on the Carnivore Diet for 10 months with 20/4 Intermittent Fasting. I've since lost 45 lbs (still losing). I don't even count calories, I eat as much as I want within my eating window. All I wanted was to reverse my pre-diabetes and I did. My A1C is now back to normal, and my glucose is stable. The weight loss was a bonus. Add to this it resolved over 15 yrs of chronic health issues that I never expected to heal: joint pain inflammation, peripheral neuropathy, vertigo, acid reflux, skin irritations (psoriasis, eczema, skin tags), sleep apnea, insomnia, blurry vision, congestion, chronic coughing, hair loss, allergies, migraines, and clinical depression. I'm back to enjoying a healthy active lifestyle. I wake up everyday feeling great - I got my life back. I wish I'd known about the carnivore diet a long time ago. Never going back to eating carbs ever again.
@@Alice-kq9li Yes I do. But you don't have to eat any dairy or eggs if you don't want to. There are many carnivore options out there. I eat both Meat and Seafood (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey, salmon, sardines, shrimp, crabmeat, scallops, cod, etc.)
@@radicaIarchitect It takes years to heal properly but certain things are noticeable very quickly. At the start there are ups and downs but hold on when the body is firing on all cylinders, you will feel like a over energetic 10yr again.
@JCmasters100 I'm also a beta, insecure J.P. fanboy with daddy issues. That why so many beta-males like myself worship Peterson. He makes us feel like normal boys by telling us to clean up our rooms and other authoritarian demands
I've been carnivore for three years and feel healthier than ever. My doctor nearly fell off her seat when I told her what I eat. She then followed up by saying 'well, keep doing what you're doing'
Hold on to that one because you got a good one, and they're rare. 95-99% of doctors in that situation would've told you you were wrong at best, or kidnapped you and submitted you to a psych ward where you'd be forcibly given anti psychotic meds and fed from a mass produced cafeteria brought to you on a plastic tray. Maybe slipped something in your allergy list so you have an allergic reaction and they can admit you and hold you until your insurance benefits run out.
do you think that adding a slice of bread to your meat will upset everything? I ask because is so tasty, adding onions garlic salt pepper on a slice of toasted bread with meat... I could eat this everyday forever.
@@davidBarrel I know you are not asking me but I would say YES. The white pepper is said to be less toxic. Also, there is a recipe to make keto bread--it looks really spongy and might be a great alternative?. Looking forward to trying it. Tonight I am making carnivore pizza for the first time! I have not been able to completely give up onions either but I use them VERY sparingly.
4 years later, we know it's safe and healthy. Especially if you trade a bunch of life shortening medication (statins, medformin, corticosteroid, blood pressure stuff) for just meat and other animal stuff. It's still mind boggeling how people have thought that ten medications with severe side effects is safer than just eating a completely natural food.
I don't know man, 5 months ago I started to eat meat, strong, just with onions garlic and olives, 3 months later I had stones in my gallblader, I had to get a surgery to get rid of it, but curiosly everything on my blood test was perfectly fine (wich 6 months before wasn't)
@@davidBarrel As I understand it, oxalates build up in the body over time and can quickly precipitate out when transitioning to a diet without them. They're found in many fruits and vegetables. Sally Norton has a lot of info on this.
The meat you can buy at the standard groceries is full of chemicals, far from "natural food". Imo how you should look at this is "its not about if its wrong or right. Its about try it..."
@@graciousSenor Welllll... I made that comment 4 years ago but I'm guessing one of the doctors being interviewed looks like he's in the mafia... in a movie.

I had an acupuncturist diagnose me with IBS that he claimed was the source of my allergies. When I stripped my diet down, did some fasting, went "paleo" for a while, and a few other things I found that my diet had a huge impact on my allergies and overall well being. When I remain strict on my diet, my allergic response is almost non-existent. The biggest offenders to my system: Milk, un-aged cheese, & wheat. When I avoid these things(and sometimes I cheat), I have almost no allergies. When I eat a pizza, it screws me up for days. So I agree with them, your gut has a huge impact on your body and immune system.
I'm no expert either, but any adverse effects from the diet, are probably better than the adverse effects of long term use of prescribed medications that aren't working as advertised. If the concern is lack of nutrients and vitamins, then supplement.
Condemning it? While obviously they won't embrace the diet that isn't the one they promote (although they had no real, good arguments against it), half of the time they were saying "we don't know". Joe is curious and looking for answers, like every thinking and open-minded person should be.
@@kalash_nikov They essentially stated it was stupid unless your gut biome isn't strong enough to handle plant based foods then it *may* be beneficial, like swapping one problem for another. They also stated a high probability specific issues that may arise from long term use. Joe was definitely attempting to defend the practice like he had a... wait for it... (steak)... in it. Everything Peterson says must be takin with a... wait for it... grain of (salt)
During my entire life, my cholesterol numbers were not good... Until I started Atkins Diet. I had a Blood Test done before I started, and once every 6 months afterward, and for the first time in my life, my numbers became "normal" without any adverse effects (sodium, etc...) However, I made good decisions (lots of chicken, turkey and fish - light on the pork and beef. I did not eat a pound or two of bacon per day. The MOST important thing was taking a fiber supplement, and Probiotics - otherwise I could eat a handful of rocks and it would come out as liquid.
BTW, that was several years ago, and I lost 60lbs in a little over 6 months. Tried to quit smoking a year later - did Atkins again and lost the 40 lbs I gained while not smoking. Since then, whenever I gain, I eliminate some carbs. In May, I was @ 239 - stopped eating bread and chips, and I'm down to 217 by September, with very little effort. (Athletic Male)
The last time I took antibiotics, which wasn’t too long ago, I had problem with stool not forming into solid shape and I had bad gas. So started eating probiotic yogurt everyday and what a difference it made. I’ve felt a lot better.
@@155inator6 yeah that's basically where I'm at. I'm not expecting to experiment longer than a month or so. I like veggies. I think as I get older I'm mainly gonna focus on eating enough protein, healthy fats and leafy greens.

These guys are right about fasting. I'm on day 165 of a 180 day fast and I have lost over 170 pounds in that time. My psoriasis has cleared up my creatinine level which had been high is now normal. I have tons of energy and I also for having lost over 170 pounds in a little over 4 months is I have no excess skin.
You're full of shit. Short of massive liposuction it is physically impossible to lose 30 pounds a month. You'd be the first human in history to do it and still be alive. Maybe you can do 15 a month but that'd be unhealthy as hell and you'd be losing muscle mass along with fat. Stop trolling for likes.
I remember an old (1996) usenet posting which claimed the inability to synthesize vitamin C could happen in 2 ways. One defect would prevent any production and the other (the more common one) meant that the last enzymatic step could not occur but spontaneous decomposition would occur, then in the final step which was non-enzymatic, it converts to ascorbic acid. So you get some vitamin C, sufficient of preventing scurvy, just not as much as you might if everything was working as it should. One point supposedly in favor of some people making vitamin C is that not everyone came down with scurvy or died on long ocean voyages in the years of sails. From a medical standpoint, it would seem much easier to operate as nobody can make vitamin C at all rather than having to work with some can and some can't. I don't think there is a medical test for vitamin C production except whether you come down with scurvy which would be kind of rough on the patient.
@@mariereynolds6430 Good to know. Been doing carnivore for a few months now and CRP and Calprotectin levels are the lowest in 25 years of my Crohn's. Hope it stays this way and colonoscopy shows the same.
How the hell are people living on the carnivore? Diet for 20 yeand still healthy? How the hell are people living? In some communitis, this that are cold all the time have no access to fruits and vegetables living off of. Hunted meat not dying off because of heart attacks. And all these things that we're being told will happen if you're on connavor? Because we have been lied to. We have been told you have to have three meals a day. We're being told all you have to have fruits and vegetables and dietary fiber to be healthy. In my carnivore experience, my gut has never been healthier in my lifetime than it is now. Lies. They are the same so called professionals telling us to eat bugs.
The idea is when humans started eating carbs and refined carbs as a part of our diet that is when we began losing our vitamins during the digestion of said carbs. If you do not eat vitamin depleting carbs you don't need to replenish your vitamins. I think an all carnivore diet is not good long term for your heart, it's probably best to eat a hunter gatherer diet.
The amount of talking over each other here was so distracting, headache inducing and hard to follow each point that each person had to say. Ironic thing is from what I could hear was that they were in agreement with each other mostly. It can't be good for you to have a strict diet of just meat alone, yea it can make you feel good in yourself just as I don't think a vegan diet is good for you... But that doesn't mean it is good for you.
ive lost 6 stone doing ketofasting. ive lost 13 inches around my waist. im now a healthy bmi, my skin has shrank, my natural muscle is now showing through, loads of energy and my skin is glowing. im 35 never thought i could do it, it works
I've been doing this diet for about a week (I'm also including cheat days so I don't have the issues Dr. Peterson mentions), and its been great. I don't get as hungry anymore. when I would get hungry, it would be about 30 minutes after eating a full meal and it would be really painful. but doing the carnivore diet has made me feel les hungry, and that was within the first few days as well, so lets see where this takes me
@@JaFeelMeBroman, I quit after a week mainly because I was too lazy to make my own food. I'm tryna get back into it slowly though because I was noticing some real benefits💯
250days in carnivore, went back to my normal weight from when I was 18, cured pre-diabetes, stopped my hip aches and now I can run again. I got my energy back. Best decision of my entire life!
Why is there so little emphasis on the fact that mostly all of these "extreme" diets are a way to reach ketosis? If you read the testimonies through the lens that 4-7 days into no carbs you reach ketosis and it's a significan't difference in experienced energy levels, but if you don't reach ketosis and stop you feel like shit, almost every story matches that.
Valto exactly. I’m a carnivore and I feel better than ever, and my ketosis is much stronger than I could ever get myself into on a Ketogenic diet. The Ketogenic diet leaves to many options open and carb creep happens. On Carnivore all that risk is avoided and ...... satiety... is just amazing. I only eat once every other day now and Im always in strong Ketosis.
I am on a paleo diet. Lost all my fat and I was doing it while I was playing soccer. I eat majority meat and I felt so amazing. I would recomend it. I looked into my ancestry and they ate majority meat. Eat what are ancestors ate.
I think everyone’s diet strategy is very subjective. Some people react well to a vegan diet, and some get diabetes and fucked up cholesterol from a vegan diet. Some people can’t stomach meat (especially red meat), and some people feel the best they’ve ever felt on carnivore. The key is having enough discipline and patience to fully commit testing out each kind of diet for a valid amount of time until you find the right one.
@Jordan Banks from years of being told that meat is bad for you combined with years of eating the worse quality meats that are pumped with antibiotics and other bs.
Im on 2 months of strait steak twice a day. I have never felt better....ever. Im 40 and have had pain in my ankles and knees for years, I have ZERO pain period. In the gym I have stopped creatine and my pre workout and am stronger with out it. Energy levels, skin, mental, you name the category and I feel amazing. Maybe Ill get my blood work done at 6 months just to be safe but im quessing its going to be as good as it gets.
I'm on Day 3 of the carnivore diet. We shall see how well it goes for me. I've known for a long time that I have a slow digestive system, digestive issues, prone to diarrhea from a combination of high sugar and high fat, and autoimmune issues/weak immune system as evident from chronic illnesses eczema, and other issues. On Day 1, I started to feel better! Coincidentally, I am sick now. Lol Hormonal cycle shorted me on sleep a few too many nights, hence I've got a cold, but I'm still doing ok. We shall see what happens.
It's mentioned in one/two Sagas where it's mentioned that the native ppls they encountered became ill from the milk they gave/traded with them. A thousand or so years later, 4-500yrs after European settlement began native people in Canada, more often than not, have varying degrees of lactose intolerance. The Inuit, within Canada, have only be in permanent settlements since the 40s (generally speaking & to keep this short) but these ppl, north Baffin Is. etc could spend an entire year without seeing land, in theory anyway, still they'd only have a 6-10 week window without snow, sub zero temps; that's spring, summer & autumn. Inuit in the lower Hudson's Bay area (west: Churchill, Arviat, east: Umiujaq, for reference) weren't experiencing the same surroundings as those in the high arctic like present day Pond Inlet, Igloolik, Taloyoak etc. There was/is, after all, a permanent ice sheet -is shrinking if it's still there- to what extent this allowed for small nomadic encampments to exist on the ice sheet year round I don't know. The 16 century saw a mini "ice age" with claims sea ice reached northern Scotland (or the Orkney or Shetland Is.) make year 'round existence on the ice sheet more probable. The guy who mentions the Inuit, in an albeit brief description, implies a sort of diverse assortment of edible arctic fruits & plants to harvest and trade with/for... Granted there's definitely berries, plants based on my summers in different sub-arctic areas there's not much to pick from in sub-arctic region, mainland or island. This has both a warmer and longer season to it's advantage. I doubt there's equal pickings above the tree line that, despite recent warmer averages, is currently seeing temps around the -4C to -12C at 9 to 11pm their local time in some places at time of posting this. I'm sure there's been various studies done, while not ruling out fruit/plant based foods/preserves, the Inuit of the arctic would've had a diet almost, if not at times entirely, meat based; whether it's caribou, birds, fish, whales etc., I'm wondering if there is something genetic differences that allow for this. Although anecdotal, regardless of early exposure to dairy milk/products the Native ppl I've known have retained some degree of intolerance well into adulthood, even to ice cream. Gut flora is another factor, and from what I can remember generally comes from one's mother during infancy on breast milk. That's from a number of years ago however, and this is already long enough... if anyone reads this far. The area surrounding Igloolik was used in the film, "Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner", which shows the brighter days of early/late winter into & through summer.
I just dont eat ditectly sugar, and dont eat pasta, nor bread (i eat a bit of basmati rice). But i eat fruit, boiled/griled vegetables, i love vinegar pickles, salads with olive oil and vinegar, and then meat/fish. I dont think these are harmful for health
hello, welp, I was a 340+ fat fu---guy and I did the keto diet first, I lost most of my weight, I went down to 240ish points and just got stuck there... I had heart beats skipping, high blood pressure, diabetic, was getting UTIs, fatty liver to the point it felt like someone kicked me in the belly, pants size in the 50s, I was beginning to get shaky hands all the time like parkinson, GERD and bad joint pains. with keto my weight went down and I almost cured my diabeetes and my heart problems improved tremendously. 100lbs less do help but I didn't get the mayority of the health benefits until I dropped the grains and went almost full on carnivore, this is called ketovore by ken berry, or 0 carb keto is more traditional terms. I switched to almost full on carnivore and in a week my hand tremors stopped... completely... and in less of a month I stopped having GERD, and my inflammation in my knees and back FINALLY corrected itself. now to say it was the less grains (hence lower glyphosate) or my ditching of all veggie oils and going back to saturated fats... but that was about the time all that was left of my symptoms to disappear completely. in less than 2 months I went from skeptive to holy sh*t this is it. you end up eating a whole lot less, and your life doesn't revolve around food anymore. I tend to stick to 2 meals a day (2mad) and if I'm super busy I can go 1 meal a day and not "die" of starvation and bad moods. I no longer take BP, liver, GERD pills, I haven't used painkillers in about 2+ years, I only take an iodine supplement and Inositol, cause I got autism and they help relieve my anxiety and burntout sensation... cause life is harder for us...
Day 7 on carnivore but eating 98 percent raw for the higher nutrient value. Raw steak and raw Ahi Tuna dipped in warm salty grass fed butter. Tastes amazing! I’m also enjoying raw liver. I’m feeling amazing. My mind is so sharp, my mood is better, sleeping better and more energy. Tested my urine and I’m in ketosis. I’m loving this carnivore diet so far.
I’ve been going through these issues probably my whole life. The loss of my period, thyroid and everything occurred 17 years ago. I am thirty seven and most joints destructed I have also had seizures of unknown cause. I also love vegetables and don’t know what to do. I’ve been blood tested as allergic to the majority of vegetables and fruits as well as celiac. Dairy, eggs, tropical fruits allergy(coconut avocado is part of this.) It is not something I would wish on anything it affects more than word able. I don’t advise people judge who would chose this I don’t know. Perhaps my health, including brain would be better moving from the present of leafy greens other veg and tolerable proteins to carnivore. I hope not but it’s true. Keto has helped my concussion recovery and migraines this much I can state 100%.
Fruity Fly so you can make celiac disease go away? Ok sure. And nightshade vegetables and shellfish nuts seeds and more? Please bring my Dad back from the dead and remove my arthritis bunions, all joint issues and concussions. Thank you!
If our digestive systems are so versatile as shown in that experiment of Africans and urban dwellers switching diets, why not try carnivore diet for 90 days and see how it goes? If you can obtain long lasting increased energy levels, it could be worth it. If not, just start eating normally again if you want. No harm done
Funny that they say it is like fasting but with some nutrition when people in the old days lived on meat almost completely while roughing trails and doing work these guys could never do.
They are way off on the Vitamin C information. They need to look into Linus Pauling's studies on Vitamin C. And organ meats have a lot of vitamin C and caretenoids. In fact a 100g of liver has a lot more of vitamin C than 100g of orange.
An orange gram for gram has roughly just over double the Vitamin C content of liver. Worth noting, I'm not a vegan and are a fan of the carnivore/keto diet. However, it's people spouting out fake facts that give idiots the ammunition to then discredit every other aspect of what's said.
...I eat once a day, meat at night maybe with milk or something like rice...but other than that ive been at my same weight for about 15 years doing it and I had no idea I was doing it til I found it on the internet.
There's an astounding amount that doctors and scientists still don't know. Even seemingly basic things. Trust me, it's so much better when they admit what they don't know rather than making up bad science and sticking to it, only to have our later debunked, like what happens all the time. I really respect these guys for leaving it open like that and being honest about the science.
I find it hilarious looking back on this clip. There hasn’t been one study done in the last 5 years however the general consensus is much different. Nutrition is the most laughable science there is.
Started carnivore 4 days ago and lost 11.2 lbs. I been tracking my food on Samsung health. my macros are 50 to 65% fat and rest protein. Eating one meal a day too. 1800 to 2200 cals a day
5:35 "Some nutrient deficiencies take many years", Shawn Baker looks pretty damn healthy to me, he is 56+ years old and arguably one of the strongest, well built 56+ year olds on the planet, How many 50-60 year old men look as healthy and muscular as Shawn Baker. In fact in today's society, the opposite is true, most people are fat/obese and have issues with insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc. Maybe it is anecdotal, but until some real money is put into studying the effects of the carnivore diet on a large group of people, all we can rely on is anecdotal evidence. Joe Rogan himself has tested it out for short periods of time and has only reported positive results: increased fat loss, improved cognitive ability, etc. Jordan Peterson and his daughter follow the carnivore diet as it was the only thing that has helped their pre-existing auto-immune system problems. There are essential fatty acids, there are essential amino acids, so the body does require fat and protein, there is no such thing as an essential / required carbohydrate.
I take a vitamin C supplement. Beef, liver, pork, eggs, cheese, plain greek yogurt, butter and heavy cream. And have never felt better. Supplements: C, E, Omega 3, magnesium.
C: maybe not necessary. E: tocopherols are not the best and might not be healthy, tocotrienols are better. Omega 3: eat salmon, etc. Magnesium: apparently on a paleo-keto diet, magnesium levels are fine without supplements.
The stress from trying to figure out what's good or bad for me would probably cancel the benefits from either diet. I'll just eat what I want and hope for the best.
Why stress over it??? There's worth in the curiosity of adding and eliminating stuff from the diet at reasonable intervals... Just to keep a variety... AND as the experimentation carries on, especially as you build a habit of taking notes, you can find out really REALLY helpful stuff... no real stress involved. ;o)
Everyone's body is different. I hear your genetics plays a big roll in what kind of food your body tolerates/ thrives on. I think a good default diet is natural whole foods with as little carbs and processed food as possible. If you're gonna eat carbs, favor rice and potatoes over bread and pasta. Basically mostly meat and veggies. Also fast regularly. Lift, run and get enough sleep.
History lesson for dummies:Humans have been eating meat for all our entire experience. The inuit only eat meat and those people are one of the healthiest in the world.
I really hate the comments criticizing these guys for stating any variation of "I don't know". They're both clearly educated and knowledgeable in their field. The fact that they separate fact, theory and speculation just is good practice of the scientific method.
5:44 That's Frank Tufano. In one of his YT videos he said that you follow him on Twitter a week or two back. He eats raw meat, drinks blood, etc over 5-6 years now.
Exactly how is the meat getting “stuck “ in our colon when you already said the meat is digested at the top of the digestion track? If it’s digested then it can’t get stuck

@@triger1 I'm basically going to try eating mostly fish and taking vitamins. I can't eat gluten either. I just don't know what else to do. My options are limited.
odd flacko options are not limited on carnivore diet unless you limit yourself to just fish...lol grass fed beef and lamb, pasture raised chicken, pork, eggs, wild caught shellfish, seafood. Pick fatty meat like rib eye or lamb chop with fat or pork belly, bacon. Fish is too lean I eat it on the side. Pick all natural grass fed grass finish meat. And use butter or ghee or olive oil. You can have some raw milk or hard cheese but some people don’t tolerate dairy. Fat is good for you as long as it’s not from grain fed animal. You are what you eat and the animals are what they eat. Please consume some organ meat as well for it is nutrient dense. No carbs, means no veggies and no fruit, no bread, no rice...etc. You probably gonna feel crappy for couple days to couple weeks and then once you adapt is all better.
I think it might be something to do with when we lives in tribes, and during the winter when the plant based nutrients are harder to come by, Essentially I think we are meant to do this for maybe 3 months at a time, Also Eskimo are almost on this diet and they do great :) I think people choose one thing or an other and stick to it.
