To me, there is only one type of "freestyle" and that is 100% off the top. I enjoy hearing freestyles from some rappers and written raps from other rappers. A very rare few impress me with both of those skills. That being said, I am much more interested and impressed with a rapper's off the top skill when they make a radio show appearance unless the written is something truly fresh. Brother Ali's five fingers of death is a prime example of some absolutely ILL written raps (with some freestyle sprinkled in as well)

Personally, I'd rather hear written songs/verses. In theory, that should be every artist's best version of their music since they have more time to perfect their songs. However, freestyles are always fun seeing what guys can come up with on the spot. Time and place for both.

Glad to see you react to Harry Mack.. He's actually has even better sounding freestyles in his Venice Beach, Santa Monica and Hollywood freestyles. In those he raps about things he sees and the flow and timing is much tighter since he's not thrown words but can incorporate improvisations at his own pace. As far as your question, usually I prefer the written tracks because most rappers can't freestyle at a high level but I make exceptions for freestylers who can improvise on the spot.

As an mc myself I'd have to say Id like to hear a good min or 2 of each to display and artist skills.

In my opinion off the top is my favorite type of freestyle mainly because I think that prepared stuff is not a freestyle and because its entertaining to see a dude just spit lyrics out off the top of the dome, its kind of like improvisation with an instrument and any rapper who cant freestyle off the top of the dome they have not mastered their craft

I want to hear both.. they’re different types of skill.. sometimes you want to hear a freestyle and sometimes you want to hear your favorite joint… it depends on your mood…

I'd rather hear pre-pre-written only because in most situations pre-writtens are exclusive (Unfortunetly their are a few pre-writen freestyle that end up on records). But in this situation Harry is not only talented at freestyling off the top but he's also able to freestyle under pressure. Good shit overall. Keep the vids coming!!

Just subbed, a reaction channel with good shit always welcome. You got a lot of Logic, but you gotta check out his song Street Dreams, it's his most underrated song and nobody ever brings it up. It's a 4 minute complete story like Biggie and Slick Rick would do. and since you liked this, you need to watch King Los freestyles on Sway, hes literally the best freestyle rapper ever. He did this same thing with Sway throwing out words to him and they were the most terrible words ever. Shit like pomegranite, gentrification, Catholic church and he was still throwing absolute fire.

I prefer pre written work but freestyle is a trait that is needed in order to be a complete MC. It is, what I believe, something to soon become extinct since rappers tend to stay away from it. Old school MCs would do it all the time like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Ll Cool J and other legends. Love your stuff fellas. Nice

A little late to the comment section here but I liked the question. If asked what I would rather listen to, I would say pre-written without a doubt. I think it gives an artist the ability to fully showcase their absolute best. no matter how great the flow may be there isn't anyone who can come off the top with something as good as their best, thought out, prepared bars. That said if asked what I thought was more impressive I would say 100% off the top freestyle. To be able to think on the spot and put down something that sounds good, flows well, makes sense, and hits the beat is far more challenging than getting time to sit and write.
