A couple years back my cousin and I (huge ralphie fans) went to see him at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte N.C. . We worked all day and got there pretty early, parked and walking up to the club we see ralphie walking across the valet parking lot and we made eye contact- star struck I just gave him the good ol boy nod and without hesitation he hollerd out “hey hey fellas we gonna have a good show tonight”. That was so cool. He ended up doing a 3 hour set that night, let the crowd know that he was only getting payed for an hour but just wanted to keep going... I remember it being so late on a work night but my cousin and I both had the feeling that we were witnessing greatness and didn’t know how long ralphie would be around.
That’s exactly why I never hesitate to spend the $10-$70 for a ticket to any type of performance comedy/music/etc Even if i have nobody to go with cause I know that I got to grasp those opportunities while they are there or I might not have that chance ever again.
Ralphie came down here to San Antonio Texas back in 2011 and he was my favorite comedian so seeing him perform in person was a dream come true. Tickets were $45 a head and he was only supposed to be on stage for 2 hours. He told us that they booked him for 2 hours but if the average wage was $15 a hour then he’d give us our money’s worth and do 3 hours of stand up. He busted our guts for 3 hours straight of non stop comedy and after the show he had a giant line where he let everyone take pictures with him. I remember being so nervous I waited to be the last person to get a picture. Ralphie threw his arm around me like he knew me forever and I got a picture with one of my all time favorite comedians!! Such a awesome dude to have met and even got to exchange some words with him. There will never be another Ralphie May and May he Rest In Peace!
You like that quote? I dont really care for it. In certain situations/circumstances, this can be a good thing, depending on who's talking. Other times guys use it to avoid admitting what they've done wrong. Sometimes the issue is black and white, and you have to be a man and take responsibility for what you did. But instead of doing that, guys will try to talk their way out of it, and if you dont want to talk "like men", the person at fault passive aggressively tries to put your manhood into question. No, I dont like that quote at all.
@@cincinatus90 I dont see it that way, you see it as a way to establish your manhood or to manipulate the situation by bringing your manhood into question. I see it as an attempt to establish comradary and common understanding. He meant it as hey, we as men have been through enough to know this world is fucked up, let's address it no matter how dark it gets. You sir are projecting.
To sum up Ralphie May, during a stand up he did for two and a half hours. He said "I think if it took two and a half hours for you to earn the money to see the show then I should give you at least two and a half hours of entertainment."
@@AlejandroSanchez-pl6jw that was literally only one year when he was going on his trump rants lmao. I saw him plenty of times and know people who’ve seen him plenty of times nationwide.
After My dad showed me Ralphies stand up I was hooked he was my favorite comedian I loved his art and the way he executed it. I saw Ralphie at zanies in my home town of Nashville. My cousin and I sat front row I remember telling the host “ put us as close as possible.” I was star struck when he came out never even noticed how his weight changed so drastically. Towards the end of the show he picked me out and saw I was wearing my HS graduation shirt which I cut the sleeves off of. He said “damn arnt muscles supposed to come with those?” Then congratulated me and the whole place clapped. Then He made the rest of the show about me talkin jabs at me and telling me just to have fun with my life cause I was so young. He died 13 months after that. Rip to One of the Greats.
@@cyberneticghostofchristmas2501 that they went rich by then. it wouldn't be till later in life they had money like that. How do you watch Joey Diaz videos and not understand any of that?
She just wants to write books and make documentaries about Ralphie because she has no other talent to take care of herself and keep her lifestyle going.
I just checked out her website after watching this clip and her bio said she is one of the hottest comedians on the scene right now. I have literally never heard of her once before. It baffles me how people have such a lack of self awareness.
Bit Smith I don’t assume that since someone doesn’t know of something doesn’t mean it is unpopular. I have seen a lot of comedians in LA and I watch a lot of comedy specials and comedians podcasts and I have never heard of her before this. Maybe she is popular but I doubt it.
I never heard of her before either except I was curious who the skinny wife was. Then I saw her act on youtube and wondered why they call that an act....she has no talent and no class. He should have smothered her during sex and said he fell asleep on her as a defense. women who use their kids as pawns to hurt the man have no idea how much pain they cause. That's why we understand when guys go postal on exes
If coco was such a stand up guy he would never give audience to front street. He thinks who he is. Look at Gabe Iglesias, he puts Martin in the light. Joey puts himself in the light. Ralphie was not an overnight sensation. He did the work. It took over 14 years. Not gonna say he isn't funny, but Joey is approaching hanger-on status. These guys review jokes? They can't play words, they couldn't walk in a circle.
Talking to a guy like Joey who’s been threw it’s all, crazy up bringing, drugs ,Divorce ,jail is so valuable . Now California sober so much wisdom from Joey .
I used to go see Ralphie all the time at Zanies in Nashville. He and I talked many times... Thank you uncle Joey, Cory and Chad for being such a good friends to him. He was blessed to have you in his life...
I'm sorry man. Focus on being the type of man your daughter will want to be around and have a good relationship with her whole life the moment she hits 18. That's a whole Lotta time boss
i waited on ralphie few yearsback, a really sweet guy..you can tell a lot about a man how he interacts with the service industry folks.. a really kind and generous guy.. RIP Ralphie
I saw him at Charlie Goodnights in Raleigh. He even called me out during his show. He was absolutely funny AF. After the show I tapped him on his shoulder and with that Ralphie smile and eyes, he says "the mexican". I gave him a good hug and asked for a pic. He was the most down to earth dude. I miss him dearly.
I saw Ralphie at the improv in Houston in 2016. I was at the early show, he and Lana had a great set, easily best comedy show I've been to. Anyway he went an hour longer then he was supposed to, and still greeted, took pictures, and signed autographs for everyone on the way out, despite having gone over his time. Truly a goat in the comedy world and am extremely grateful I had an opportunity to watch him live and shake his hand!
Always loved Ralphie. He use to say he married way above his level. It's a shame he felt that way. He could've married someone that truly loved him, but I don't know that he thought he deserved it. Love you, Ralphie. Thinking of you makes me smile.
I'm a big fan of Ralphie and could never afford to go see him live. He lives on in my memories, and recordings. His humor was his own and gifted the world with it, through my hard times he made me smile. We miss you Ralphie!
I got to see Ralphie in Florida once. Only comedy show I have ever seen. He was great. After we were walking back to our hotel and Ralphie was walking back with his wife. Ralphie was super friendly and kind and thanked us for coming out to the show. He was very humble and warm. I didn't like his wife. She seemed fake, but she also smiled. I wish them all peace. Best wishes to his children.
I met his wife and manager. They told me and my coworker about Cosby a year before it broke. Both my coworker and I had NOTHING nice to say about either of them, though. I remember after our chat we looked at each other like "those 2 are totally fucking behind Ralphie's back"
I was just thinking the same. Their kinda handling the issue with kid gloves and still I can see the nastiness that was going on. Really sad. Rip Ralphie.
Man not to disrespect ralphie but lets be serious, it would take some fucked up women to be attracted to ralphie.. It does not surprise me that the women that was his wife was an evil chick who just took advantage of ralphie because he had alot of disposable income. It takes an evil women to take advantage of a man financially, not only while he was living; but to continually try and make money off of his name in death. There is no words, disgusting human being that bitch is
Aaron Stewart i understand what you mean but his humor and the way he treated people is what made him “attractive” he was big as shit but that doesn’t mean a woman can’t love him, a real one doesn’t care about your weight or what you look like
My smallish town in the middle of of California had just built a brand new theater for shows and they booked Ralphie May as the first act to open it. He was only scheduled to do an hour but he said he was gonna bust this theater's cherry wide open. He ended up doing about 3 hours. Afterwards he ended up hanging out with fans in the parking lot of the theater too. I can't speak about the man personally, but as an entertainer he was amazing.
My brother went through 2 divorces. He said he will never get married again. He found a meme that explained it perfectly: Don't get married, just find a women you hate and buy them a house.
God bless you guys, on behalf of Ralphie. How could the leaches leave him without even a headstone ? WTF ?!? I’ll respect you forever for talking about this, and remedying the situation.
Mad respect to all 3 of you guys for being completely honest and open about ralphie May.. I miss that guy so much.. his comedy was phenomenal, only a truely special person can be so loved by so many people.. I have a load of respect for you guys not watching that documentary.. if someone did that to one of my mates after he died I would do everything in my power to make sure it was never seen by anyone... are the other 2 guys in the documentary?? Did they give permission for their images to be used?? If not maybe you can sue them for making the doco and have it pulled.. 🤷♂️
I’ve been off opioids for 7 years and looking back one thing I know for sure is no one enabled me. All addicts understand they made their own choices in life. Just because a friend has the drug doesn’t mean you have to take it.
I remember seeing Ralphie on Comedy Central one night on a late airing at like 2 in the morning. I literally was crying trying to be quiet not to wake anyone up.
This makes me so grateful to have such a WONDERFUL friendship with my daughter’s father. Life lesson for everyone in the midst of a breakup please please PLEASE love your kids and their best interests ahead of any bitterness you’re holding toward your ex.
Haha Fucking Classic! Joey just oozes authenticity, 100% Real, not a fake bone in his body.... absolutely the best!!! "I'm not smacking ass...... I'll grab a pussy and Du' Tu' YEAHRRS "I feed a cat, I look it, in its eyes. Know what I'm saying..." (No not really Joey..... But I'm fucking dying over here, hahaha)
Yeah, it does burn my ass too when someone, anyone talks smack about those who have passed. Especially if the person blabbing has or is making money off the deceased. Thank you for standing up for your friend Joey Diaz and as always, I love you 😘
She was married to him. She didnt tell him to stop comedy until he got his health together. She rode that pony strait into the ground. And now his kids will know. They will know. Had no idea who this lady was. Just looked her up. She is very, very, thirsty. Atacama thirsty.
To really tell a person's true character, this is it. Ralphie's ex is sick and ridiculous. Shame on her and Karma is waiting to get her. Rest in Peace Ralphie 🕊
Death brings out the worst in people, especially those that thought they were close with the deceased. The flipside is also true but the assholes always steal the show.
“Here in the south we save our pain pills for when we’re feeling better ain’t that right”- ralphie may. Always loved that bit and I never knew he even had a pill problem, I figured he dabbled tho.
Ive used alot of drugs but ive never had the urge to use prescription pills like i would an illicit drug. However i do have a mate who was not a smoker or drug user and only socially drank that was prescribed benzos for something that happened to him and got addicted straight away and is still struggling to get off em . Quite sad to see these devastating effects that it has on him
@@abtwopoint0 very true. Benzos are like alcohol you can't just stop doing it. Just going cold turkey can straight up kill you. I consider myself lucky that i only got hooked on pain pills. I mean the withdrawals where fucking god awful. But atleast i didn't I have to worry about having a seizure during them.
That ex wife, I watched several of her gigs. She's the most unfunny, dry comedic act I've ever seen in my life. And the worst one was her making jokes about being married to a fat husband. Imagine being so unfunny, your brilliant idea for jokes on stage is to resort to taking jabs at your much more famous husband. If it was actually funny, it would be one thing. But, it wasn't. Rest in Peace Ralphie, so much natural talent in that guy
I was at the Wilbur Theater in Boston to see Ralphie that night. I remember Lahna opened for him and she was terrible. Signing sings about what Nazi's did to Jewish people. She said she was Jewish so she thought it was ok. My friend i was with walked out till she was done. After the show Lahna was available to talk to and sign photos. She said Ralphie wasn't feeling good. I guess he used to be available to meet fans. Miss u big boy!
This is helping me while I go through my custody battle with my sons mother…I left her once I knew what happened when I was working, once I left she held my son for 3 months and is still trying to burry me with non sense in court because I left from her actions..this hits the nail on the head, hands down.
15K just get the "normal" visitation, I am a Dad that loves my child more than anything else on this earth. Moved to another state a couple hours away because of the 2008 economic fallout, she stopped abiding by the "agreement", the 15k took up all of my income and put me into debt. Now being alienated due to my ex. Met with a different attorney to get a better custody agreement, also wanted to show the alienation, attorney told me I have a great case with all of my documentation, now it will only be (another) 15K just for the retainer!!! I cannot win. Still battle with this 9 years later, every day. It's a million pound weight on my shoulders.....Moral of this story...I always treat any man going through this different as well, because I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. And I hate the system. Fight for fathers rights!
Well this is unfortunate. And yet I'm watching. Just had a funeral for a friend recently and there's always some bad thinking floating around. Shame. Wish y'all well.
I wasn’t married or divorced but have 2 ‘baby mammas’ one with 7 years and the other 6 years and holy fuck they’ve made my life hell. Been single for 2 years now and am broke yet work my ass off. Can’t see my kids either as one moved far away, the other lied and got a restraining order. Can’t afford a lawyer but maybe someday I can set everything straight. It has nearly cost me everything and breaks my heart daily. I feel for anyone who has to go to war with an ex
@@topshelfbullys7889 I’ve since worked things out with my sons mom, the one who moved. She now lives 2 hours away and we meet half way for 1-2 weekend visits a month, plus I get my some for this upcoming spring break so very happy about that relationship Daughters mom on the other hand filed ANOTHER restraining order though I’ve not contacted nor tried to contact her. Trial with her and her lawyer next month, hoping for a fair and intelligent judge.
All respect to the lady Ralphie married but unreal this beautiful soul wouldn’t be treated right even through the toughest time. Guys I went to the site last week and tons of items are resting with him. I’m going back soon to leave him a present myself. Thank you all for your actions and true display of humanity. I’m from Arkansas and Ralphie is our Carlin, Chapelle, or whoever you feel is the best he means a lot to this state and we all appreciate you guys and women that had any part of helping him be laid in a deserved place. It’s absolutely beautiful site again 1000 thanks.
If I were a comic, hanging out with Joey Diaz, and Stanhope, and all the other amazing comedians, I would not be a saint either. I would want to stay awake for life, just to keep laughing. To avoid the troubles of the world. Isn't that what comedy is really all about?
Divorce takes its toll on kids man, my parents have been divorced since I was 1 year old. I don’t have a single memory of my mom and my father in the same place happy. And it hurts.
I got to see Ralphie live in New Mexico shortly before he passed. He destroyed that show, even though you could tell he felt like shit when he first came out. I’m glad I got to see him live, but sad I won’t get to see him again.
Another thing about Lahna... Ralphie carried her all the way to his grave. She was only on stage because of Ralphie. And a lion's share of her material was at Ralphie's expense. He disregarded his self-preservation so she could have a chance at being funny too.
My own mother took me to see Ralphie May when I was 13, made us leave during a bit about BJs! Luckily it was the end, I was crying on the way out! Man made me laugh from the foyer! Seattle WA and countless cities love you Ralphie May !
I met ralphie may at a friends wedding in 2014 . His kids were there with him. He was happy smiling and enjoying the evening. He passed a few not long after.
Hell yeah I agree people need to let him rest in peace ! Ralphie is AWESOME 😎 I think his heart being broken had a whole lot to do with his health and death ! Love you guys keep doing what your doing!
I met them both in 2007/2008 at the Addison improv in Dallas. I just remember she was raunchy, he was hilarious, and all the people in the crowd were drunken idiots. It struck me as such a fun life choice to entertain people
Eh. She was with him when he was broke. Relationship went sour, he was doing drugs and they both got toxic. Really unfortunate. Take care of yourselves, folks.
@Captain Brandon Horror Lover she couldn't be a gold digger by definition. No one except the two of them know what was true, which is why they're called "allegations", not facts. Shouldn't talk bad about him after he died. That's foul like she's trying to get a book deal. You want to vent, see a therapist.
While I won't kick sand in Lahna's face I am definitely glad that Joey and the Smash brothers and all those other unknown friends and supporters are keeping it raw and honest and ensuring his lgacy has some truth and love to it. Ralphie has touched many souls he never even know about. Thanks Joey! R.I.P. Ralphie :)
