And then some! Prior Military...worked in a maximum "off gid" juvenile offender state facility. For those who earned a video or TV privilege; this DVD/music was their favorite!
John is the origional , The record industry was trying to avoid having people make the discovery that springsteen & band was just a copy , springsteens first two albums were kind-of forced , born to run sounded more like beaver brown
Still one of the best soundtracks for a movie ever. Micheal Pere’ did a fantastic job as Eddie and the vocals matched his style perfectly. Absolutely underrated.
I was just a kid when I saw Eddie and the Cruisers. I thought Eddie was the most beautiful man I'd ever seen. I still do. I couldn't believe it when I found out it wasn't him singing. His speaking voice sounds so similar.
This is my Dad's favorite song from his favorite movie. He passed away in 1994 a couple of months before I turned five. I listen to this song as a tribute to him, RIP Dad I love you very much and miss you. This one's for you 💙💛❤💚💜
MY MOM INTRODUCED ME TO THIS MOVIE MAINLY DUE TO THIS SONG IN FACT I HAD ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS MICHAEL PARÉ SINGING THIS BUT NOT UNTIL ABOUT 2020 DID I LEARN IT WAS JOHN CAFFERTY WHO WAS SINGING THIS AND UP UNTIL THEN I HAD BEEN TOTALLY LOST/CONFUSED AS TO WHOM WAS REALLY SINGING THIS
Saw them in a little bar in San Diego right after the movie came out. Must have been less than hundred of us crammed in there. They sounded EXACTLY like this. It was unreal. People were paying hundreds to see Bruce sing "Dancing in the dark" that year. I think the cover was like $10, best money ever spent.
One of the best songs in the 80s and never forgotten. It should be given more praises back then. 80s the best era in Music-- just pure talented musicians regardless of how they look.
Because there were some ugly musicians including Geddy Lee, at least one of the guys in Steely Dan, Mr Loaf or MeatLoaf, and many more that have "a face made for (being on the) radio."
One of the best rock songs EVER! John and the gang should get a hell of a lot more respect. The rhythm guitar rocks, the bass is thumping harder than a trip hammer, and the sax is scorching. Everything to love and nothing disappoints in this song. Thank you guys for writing and performing this. A side note, I prefer the version of the video with the real band and not the film version. I always did get a hoot watching John do that one legged hop thing and you can see the band is having a good time.
John Cafferty made two amazing albums, for both films. Sadly as some have said on here the fictional characters get all the credit. John and the boys are one of the most talented groups ever to be ignored
Johnny Johnson, Yeah it's the same thing that happened with Dan Hartman's "I Can Dream About You". For the longest time I thought Dan was a black guy with a jheri curl.
WPST 97.5 FM in Trenton, New Jersey, played this a lot in the overnight hours. Probably heard this three or four times in an 8 hour shift when this song was at its zenith. Good times and good memories.
The Wild Summer Nights bar scene filmed at Tony Marts in Somers Point NJ. The place was torn down shortly after filming but for nearly 40 years it was one of the hottest spots at the south Jersey shore. My dad spent many nights there in the early 60s. The movie caught the vibe of the place n time exactly.
Eddie and the Cruisers? BULL. It's John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. Nothing fictional about these guys. They're great! And SO under appreciated.....
I`m from Rhode Island and have seen John and the Beaver Brown band many time. They should have been way bigger than they were/are. They play every song like their life depends on it. I love Springsteen but John and the band are not just copy cat aslo rans. Even now in 2020 they`re still playing.
I just went back in time and I was a teenager again, driving fast, no worries, my first boyfriend, cold beer and the rest of my life in front of me. Great times. 💯😜😁
❤ I remember putting the TV on one Saturday afternoon when it was just HBO back in the day and I seen this gorgeous guy in this gorgeous song Eddie and the cruisers what a flick one
I really wish they would put the 2 movies of Eddie and the Cruisers on TV. So the younger kids get to really see true rock and roll. I’m old and loved Eddies Lyrics. And would love the chance to see both back to back.🙏🏼
Such a great movie for its time I still listen to the soundtrack in 2021 and crank it up everytime Love the sax as well We dont hear these kinda sounds in music now days
I seen these dudes about 40 years ago at Saint Francis in Loretta, pa great Show. They Kicked Ass. My Girlfriend / now Wife of 46 years. We both Loved these dudes. Rockers all the way.
Heard this on radio today and I was blowing my 🔊 screaming and nodding... this is my childhood right here lol. I came home and have played it 4 times already lol. When that saxophone starts to vibrate.... panties melt....
Eliza Coppes Awesome! People are surprised to learn old rockers do still give it up. I still play and I’m in my mid 60’s. The only thing that bothers me are the hot stage lights in summer gigs. DaveB
My uncle loved this song & soundtrack (as did I). He passed away suddenly; this coming Saturday will be 6 yrs since he’s been gone. This song will always remind me of him. He is missed so much every day!
It' s crazy. This song continues to pop up in my head. It stuck with me ever since my mom and I watched Eddie and the Cruisers every chance we got in the 80's. My mom had a crush on Eddie. Lol. Good times.
Truly one of the most underrated bands of it era they had the sounds of the 50s an 60 s all in one and was good wish they could have come further our music today would be much better than what it has become.
I know it's from the Eddie and the Cruisers movie, but it should read John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band that is correct performer of the song and video
Great tune. This was when I had just joined the air force and was living the life overseas. This takes me back almost 40 years. Strong memories, unforgettable song.
Speaking of that overseas military life, I had actually completely forgotten about this song, and not long ago, I heard it playing on a Korean radio station while alone and riding a bus through the local city one night. I couldn't remember the name of the song or the band, but I knew I had to find out. I have ended up getting blasted from the past by a lot of great, somewhat obscure American songs just like that, while riding buses in Korea.
I FKN LOVE THIS SONG AND ALL THE OTHERS FROM JOHN CAFFERTY AND THE BEAVER BROWN BAND, SEEN EDDIE AND THE CRUISERS WHEN I WAS 6 YEARS OLD , AND ILL NEVER FORGET HOW THESE SONGS STUCK WITH ME
I saw these guys perform live in Chicago shortly after the movie came out. They put on one helluva show and while the movie resonates with me, the music they created is some of the best rock around. They made Eddie Wilson live!
I can't think of any other song with as great a sax lead as On the Dark Side. Such wonderful textures in this song, begins with a piano lead and ends in pure, old school rock and roll. It's just the same verse with no real chorus, it's its own hook. Great tune.
