A nice original 1969 John Deere 5020 rumbles to life and does some pulling for the crowd at the 2014 Pioneer Acres Show. Still decked out in her original paint job, this very unit continues to reliably work around the farm today, just as it has for the last 45 years, a testament to it's simple yet solid engineering. I was lucky to be able to drive a 5020 from one farm to another on the road about 7 miles when I was about 14 ,did I feel like ...King of the road.

In Australia the 5020 had a impeccable history, not so had the 6030 due to if correct a cluster gear failure under heavy loads.

We had a 5020. It was my favorite tractor. Hubby puta straight pipe on it, so it roared like a beast. It’s been sold and is now a pulling tractor.

We have a 5020 on our farm the only thing that it does anymore is run the silage blower but what a beast we love it. My grandfather bought it brand new 12000hrs and rebuilt twice

I've got 2 right hand sway blocks and PTO drive with the rear plate assembly if you want to pay the shipping . These sway blocks are bad about breaking!

One more warning, if you ever have to rebuild the engine you'll need a forklift. The crankshaft alone weighs more than most European cars!

I have one of these things, a 1966 model with an aftermarket cab and an Ezee on 110e loader on it. I have had many years of work with it and at over 9000 hours it still runs really good, oil changed every 500 or so hours and always cared for. I one day would like to restore it and take it to tractor shows all over my home province of Alberta.

That 1969 Deere pulled that load like it was nothing and could have pulled more. That tractor must be well taken care of to be in that great shape.

Looks like he could have pulled that sled out of the park, but he ran out of track. Looked like 5th gear. What year did they go to the flat top fenders. We had 3 on the farm when I was a kid. All had flat top fenders, maybe a 70 model?

@Rainhill1829
@Rainhill1829 2 года назад
I am not totally sure, the 5020 had almost double the power, i think it was an entirely new class when Deere launched the new generation in the early 60’s.
@joescheller6680

only limiting facter they had was the rosenmaster fuel pump they werent designed for that much horsepower and the pumps needed to be rebuilt more than normal.

put a latch at the top of the sled, then when the weight box hits it add spikes to the bottom where they stick in the ground and have hydrolics working it.

Did you see that guy pull his hand away from the fan area when the tractor was started? 2:10
@Rainhill1829
@Rainhill1829 5 лет назад
Oh yeah about that, he was checking the pressure bypass on the injector pump, it was giving him a little trouble that day and he was having him crank the engine over as he held his hand on the valve to see if it was developing pressure. I was filming right when the issue resolved itself. There must have been a tiny bit of air in the line that got purged out as he worked the valve.
