After I became a Christian, I thought nothing of it. It wasn't until I was given a book by Joyce Meyer that I realized NO, women should not be preaching or pastoring a church. Now it seems when women are accepted as pastors, it's not long that anything and everything is okay in the church. If the SBC changes their minds about this, our little Baptist Church will be out!

It's only controversial because of weak men who refuse to correct women in the church. If all the men in the church would stand their ground on this topic, women would have no choice but to submit.

I don't agree. If whatever the Greek words were meant what Christians today mean by it, there wouldn't have been a riot in almost every city Paul went to. Was Christ overturning money changing tables and using a whip at the temple outer area "properly and in order"? It's interesting to compare what English words translators choose and what people claim the Bible says what Christ and Apostles actually do with God's blessing. Try reading the ACTUAL Hebrew words translated as "male" and "female" in Gen 1:27. Look at the woods as used throughout the rest of Tanakh as well as outside the Bible and their etymology. You will find the Bible is NOT complementarian nor egalitarian, and that it description of female is EXACTLY the same as modern biology.

@@conceptualclarity Hebrew word translated male: "the best". Hebrew word translated female: "the one violently penetrated" as in stabbed. THAT is God's Words for the sexes in Gen 1:27. However, in Gen 2, "helpmeet" is someone who is better at something than the one being helped. Gen 2 the woman is clearly tied to reproduction as no other animal was found suitable for Adam. Think of the man as the general contractor, and the woman as the Master Electrician working under the GC. Or a sniper working under the general direction of a superior officer. This is the real Hebrew, which is embarrassing to today's misandric gynocentric Churches. Please note this is NOT and accusation of McArthur. He and a very few others have not bowed to Jezebel. If you think I go too far, read 1 Peter 3:6 were a wife is told to call her husband lord, kuriously the same word used for Christ, pun intended. Now, as a professor of medicine and biochemistry; a woman is obtained from a man by subtraction. XO is completely female with minimal abnormalities (Turner's). XXY is fully male, again with minimal abnormalities (Klinefelter). I could easily write for hours on the male/female comparison and contrast but really, all you need is to have an unbiased look. EVERY great genius is male. Our current push for D.I.E. (diversity, inclusion, equity) is an utter failure when it comes to sex.

There are so many confusing church structures now. There are multi campus models with a main/senior pastor who preaches and the satellite campus' where the members watch the pastor from a screen. These church's have campus "pastors" who do not preach but just do announcements and function like a campus manager. It seems somewhere along the line we started overusing the title pastor so modern churches with multi-site campuses have a capital "P" pastor who preaches, and just about every worker in the church is a small "p" pastor. Worship pastor, lighting pastor, children's pastor, video pastor etc etc. That fives women the title but not the function although i am not sure if the church really is just incrementally going in that direction. The employees love that title even though they do not function as a preacher. Once you let the genie out of the bottle the churches have a hard time re-titling their female employees without generating controversy which they hate. Modern churches like this facade of happiness and everyone is getting along and do not like to rock the boat. Mike Winger has a great 40hr series on the topic and gets way down in the weeds. I think Mike Winger supports calling everyone who is not preaching a Deacon but not that many churches use deacon. I think most people also interpret the Romans 16:1-2 use of deacon as servant (for Phoebe). Winger felt that since elders wife's have no qualification but deacons wives do have qualifications (1 Tim 3:11) he thinks that may be due to them doing deacon functions. He comes down on "soft Complementarian" where he is ok with female teaching as long as they do not do it with an Pastor/elder authority. He gives some examples like a female apologist speaking at a conference or maybe a guest at a church they do not work at. I appreciate the hard work he put into the series to bring this discussion forward as his series have millions of views. I will not attend a church with female lead pastors who preach. Question - If you are in a church with male preachers but also has male and female (small "p") pastors who do not preach, do you stay and use your talents and grit your teeth or do you move on and let church know why you are leaving? fyi in my area, all the churches in driving distance overuse "pastor" and apply the title to many types of non-preaching church employees.

I have had great distress in my own congregation in trying to point out that women preaching is fundamentally and biblically wrong. One member was about to leave the "group" because of me and I was called out as responsible for her reaction. At this point I don't consider myself as member of this or any congregation in my area. They have no desire to conform with the bible and this relates with a low view of the authority of God's word. This low view is the standard view of evangelicalism here.

Since a woman could be a pastor in the Old Covenant, a woman can be a pastor in the New Covenant. Simple really. I suggest my short and free essay on Deborah. Men and women are perfectly equal spiritually. She was a pastor, according to the scriptures. This is how the Judges are described in Chronicles, by God. A woman could only be given the authority by God to execute a man for his sin, if women are spiritually equal to men. A Judge could judge homicide cases according to Deuteronomy. Therefore Deborah, as a Judge, could execute a man for his sin. A Judge was cleared to teach from scripture as he/she gave a verdict, according to Deuteronomy. Since in Judges 4, men went to Deborah to be judged, a woman could teach men, even in the Old Covenant in a public setting.

@@nerychristian (In case the reader in unaware, the word pastor and the word shepherd are the same word. I prefer shepherd, because it has obvious meaning to the average person.) Major modern English translations like the NASB use the phrasing ...whom I commanded to shepherd My people... In all places where I have walked with all Israel, have I spoken a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ -excerpt 1 Chronicles 17 verse 6 NASB translation Some believe that pastor (or shepherd), is a position that was created in the New Covenant. This is not true. In the Old Testament shepherds are mentioned multiple times. Often in a negative way. “My people have become lost sheep; Their shepherds have led them astray. -excerpt Jeremiah 50 For an entire chapter on worthless shepherds, the reader may check out Ezekiel 34. When the shepherd over Israel died, the people went back into sin. That is because the Judge was the most important spiritual leader of this time period. One of the few things I agree with JMac on. Unfortunately, he is a self admitted Calvinist teaching: Only an arbitrary pre-chosen elect will irresistibly turn to Christ, consequently all others can't. So I dare not even recommend a booklet on prayer from him, for fear that an under-discipled believer might succumb to his false gospel of Calvinism.

Does God know who will choose Him or reject Him? The modern Arminian would say, “Yes.” So let’s say that God doesn’t choose; people do. But God chooses SOME things doesn’t He? Does He choose that those who are born, in fact are born? Of course we would all say Yes if we hold an even remotely orthodox view of God. But this only shifts predestination around or hides it under the carpet, because under this reasoning God at least chooses that a person is born, whom He knows without any doubt will reject Him and go to hell. Functionally this is the same as predestination regardless of what game we play with words. At bottom, the concept of a sovereign God that becomes an inactive observer of human choice is not consistent. But God is entirely consistent. And that is why the Old and New Testament, including our Lord Himself, consistently affirm God’s immediate sovereignty in our salvation. He gets the glory. He knows His own. We are not to worry about doing His job. The job He gives us is to be obedient and go preach the Word to anyone who will hear.

@@eric_eagle Can't remember which Calvinist said that very sanctimonious & virtue signaling statement. I'm not Arminian. Jacob Arminius studied under Theodore Beza an All-in Calvinist. He taught a total depravity like Calvin's & said you could loose your salvation from sinning/poor performance. God sent His Son to redeem everyone that will & CAN call upon Jesus for salvation to destroy the works of the Devil (Genesis 3:14-15, John 12:31, John 16:11, Hebrews 2:14, 1 John 3:8) . It glorifies Satan to teach "God sent Jesus to live sinless, die/atone sins & rise again for only a privileged arbitrary few...all others will succumb to the sting of death caused by sin". Calvin "Individuals are born doomed from the womb to a certain death and are to glorify Him by their destruction" Jesus "For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them" (Luke 9:56 KJV) "I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness, And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world" (John 12:46-47). Calvinists conflate God's sovereignty with absolute determinism. God's foreknowledge of all events does not make Him the causal agent of all events (see Jeremiah 19:5 for one of many such examples)
@mikelyons2831
@mikelyons2831 3 месяца назад
@@eric_eagle That is pure Calvinism & not scripture. God sent His Son to redeem everyone from the sting of death caused by sin... not just Calvinism's special favored elect. All CAN call upon Jesus for salvation. But since God sovereignly created us in His image & likeness as volitional beings so as to have genuine fellowship/personal relationship with Him, some will not receive God's offer of salvation (per: Matthew 23:37, John 5:40, 1 Timothy 4:10, 2 Peter 2:1). We are volitional beings before, during & after salvation "Behold (church at Laodicea) I stand at the door & knock if anyone opens..." notice no crowbar or battering-ram used. You are not elect, predestined to adoption, redemption & forgiveness until you are in Christ after believing in Christ (Ephesians 2:11-13, John 1:12, John 5:24, 1 Corinthians 1:21, 1 John 5:1 & 12-13).

The soft complementarianism of James Merritt, JD Greear etc. is absolutely not a destination but rather just a bridge to egalitarianism. You put women in roles that will make it emotionally irresistible to people to go ahead and recognize women as eligible to be pastors without distinction. Allowing these people to undermine the Southern Baptist stance on this will undermine the overall stance on authority of the scripture because it will put in people's minds that the scripture is susceptible to being questioned and overruled on the basis of contemporary attitudes. It will hasten the triumph of gay-affirming religion in the SBC. Aside from this effect upon people's attitudes about the Bible, the women pastors themselves are not going to be median SBC female members, but they will will be highly prone to be feminists of a substantially more left-wing outlook then is normal in the SBC. It is perfectly clear in turn that political progressivism leads to theological liberalism. There is no way that women pastors is not going to lead to the SBC becoming an apostate liberal denomination like the PCUSA. Some may argue for, rather than the SBC endorsing women pastors, having the denomination simply take a laissez-faire attitude; allow the dissidents to stay in the denomination. But recent church history shows that when heresy at the fringes of a denomination is tolerated, the inexorable outcome is that heresy will become prevalent and even mandatory.

Dr. Roach, It seems that this video would have proved better as concise short-form content. It saddens many in the SBC that just because the issue is true, it does not make it a primary issue. Even Mike Law considers this a secondary issue. It seems that your commentary moves what is secondary at the most and tertiary in the least up to the level of primary, virtue signaling and saying my way not only is God's way but that it is compulsory for cooperation. Southern Baptists had for over 100 years not placed these conditions and only a monetary condition to work to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are telling me that you cannot work with a neighboring church on a mission effort to reach the lost because they don't align on this issue, then you care more about cleanliness and less about the lost. Your video failed to bring any consideration for the fallout from this amendment and any unintended consequences. Would honestly love more content on this as the SBC Convention approaches.
