Baptism is not required. As John said, it is an outward expression of the faith that you have inside you. As John Piper once said “baptism is an expression of the faith of the person being baptized.” Also read 1 Peter 3:21.
@@RabidLeech.you are right but you can’t just take the verse out of context the verse before it says ”to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,“ 1 Peter 3:20 NIV As you see it says that only eight were saved through water
The thief on the cross next to Jesus was saved and he was not baptized as there was no time. John MacArthur is really taking a turn in his beliefs... His legalistic spirit is out of line.
Baptism is a requirement according to the New Testament covenant for salvation. There are obvious exceptions to this command. Example would be thief on the cross. Or someone that is perfectly unable too do so like on their death bed. But it is a requirement. You have to cleanse yourself of sin and participate in your death burial and resurrection of new life in order to be in the church and to see the kingdom of God.
@@tobiasgriffin2289 every verse that speaks of baptism in the New Testament with the exception of John’s the Baptist baptisms. Literally look at every New Testament conversion after Christ accent to heaven. They repent and are baptized immediately. Also the fact that the apostles spoke of it as a command something you do. It was not a preference. It boils down to a simple question that has a multifaceted answer… what is baptism?
