- Dad, why my sister's name is Rose ? - Because you mother loves Roses - Ok. Thanks, dad ! - No problem, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room (live Rock in Rio)
I don't think people understand how insanely amazing this version is. The guitar solos, the guitar tone, everything is freaking perfect. Kudos to Mayer, fantastic guitarist.
If he had been born before them, he would not know what the fuck to play. It's a great, great player but his music does not represent any innovation. More of the same
If he was born in the Hendrix/Clapton era he would be playing in a pub every day... He is a very good player, one of the best nowadays.. but in the rock n roll era... C'mone dude, he wouldn't be even known
Sometimes I dream of quitting my desk job and becoming a John Mayer roadie. Sure, the work would be hard but every night I'd hear the muffled songs in my rig and I'd mouth those beautiful words "When you gotta run Just hear my voice in you" and think about the road behind and the road ahead.
John Mayer is considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Joji has way less experience. You are like comparing Michael Jordan to a high school point guard 😂
I only discovered this song recently, not sure how I missed this one. Probably the greatest version I’ve ever heard too, so much emotion and feel in this version
Aaron Sterling is the unsung hero here, his energy behind the kit is immense! He builds the suspense so perfectly and allows John to really thrive on stage, hitting new levels of guitar playing. Outstanding! Best live performance I have ever seen!
All I can tell that in Brazil some band/artists just have huge fan base. When an artist has that..the crowd sing and interacts in a different way. Chileans and argentinians are very special too...
Jesus Christ this is so frickin insane. I’ve watched this hundreds of times and I still can’t get over how sick this. The last solo is so unreal. So UNREAL
Quite possibly the best performance we'll ever get from John. I've listened to this at least 900 times over the years, and it never gets old. Good news for the people who just found this: you'll listen to this in the future and it will sound just as amazing as the first time.
have you seen Pink Floyd Pulse concert Comfortably Numb Live that right there is legit one of the greatest performances of live music to ever happen in the universe too and the best part is we all live in the age to watch all these anytime its wild to think all this great music started not that long ago
Ive seen him do that tap on that note on other live versions of this song. But i definitely caught that he did it with his thumb. Im sure thats why he was laughing hahaha
So good. That guitar just screams and cries, it couldn't match the tone of the song any better. It's like the whole song slowly builds in emotion trying to keep it together until it can't hold it back anymore and just explodes with emotion.
singing in front of the most beautiful, emotionally charged women on the planet, who'll learn a new language just to sing your songs, has got to be the meaning of life
Lord.. this is by far the best performance I have seen from any guitarist. Drummer and the crowd are awesome as well. Hope he goes back to fender soon, this tone is fucking unreal.
Let's be real. This one's better than the LA version. LA had a lot of heart and soul from John. This one's got a lot of heart and soul from John AND the crowd. 💚
To be fair WTLi is as only a couple years after he wrote the song. This is several so of course he’s going to have some licks ready to go after having so much time with the song
I went to this concert. Probably the best one that I’ve ever been to. John is outstanding, the best guitar player of our generation. I feel so lucky because I was able to see him live twice. Thanks for everything, man!
Before, I didn't understand people who cried when they heard an artist live Until, in 2008, I saw John live for the first time, and I cried like a little child. Unbelievable how someone can call directly into the soul and ultimately tear it apart. Since that, I have seen him many times.
I’m now watching for the 100th time. I’m biased because Slow Dancing In A Burning Room is my favorite John Mayer song… but this is the greatest performance I’ve ever seen. Hands down.
This is a killer performance, isn't it? So raw, so tender, so true, so screaming and weeping and ... Actually I am a classical opera singer (bass) and as an instrument I just play piano (mostly J.S. Bach). Usually I detest pop music. But not with John Mayer, and especially not with this very performance of Slow Dancing In A Burning Room. That guitar solo is an emotional eruption, and after 25 times it still transports me into space.
This dude is a beautiful artist. As a blues guitarist myself, I really appreciate his style. My mother knows someone that grew up with him, (I've actually been able to meet him myself), he told her that the only reason that he put out songs like "Your Body is a Wonderland" just so he could put out the blues today. Wonderful musician.
Not the only reason cat --- he became a musician like most musicians --- to get the girls he couldn't get before! C'mon, dawg . . . don't let the smooth taste fool you, kid!
same with engineers who think when they make certain amount of money they get the girls, then they sit in their oversized vans, and women must endure boring conversations while thinking to herself "I need the financial safety, I need the financial safety" xD@@NoNo-ks4gg
I always thought this part in the solo at 5:30 in this version is remarkable because he makes it sound like two people arguing, and just puts so many emotions into what a struggling relationship feels like. Truly generational talent
That moment when he switches to the pick... We all know It’s business time! This performance is insane, Mayer is one of the very few, if not the only one who can reduce me to tears simply by playing the guitar.
He played soul for a bunch of college girls and now he plays dead for all the dead heads. What a world. I love John Mayer and all the music he puts out into the world. What a musician. What a man. He has changed ten fold. It’s a ride to see it all. I count myself lucky.
John just being John is extra. Then he goes and tops it off, making it a much more than over the top performance. It's not even on the planet or within its atmosphere. It's too good, and we are not worthy of his magnificence. After all, he is the King ❣❣👑
The very second i listened to John Mayer I knew i was listening to a seriously gifted guitarist. His Music is so underrated in my opion. I seen him Live in Wollongong in 2012 I think Simply Red were the back up. About 8000 people. Great night. Was at the back had best seat in the house. The sound and show were excellent. Cant wait for him to come to Australia again.
I think we are seeing a once in a lifetime musician right before our eyes ... not to take anything away from Hendrix, Clapton, etc but JM has mastered all their styles (and beyond) It’s mind boggling and a bit frustrating to know you will never come close to JM.
I mean Hendrix died at 27 so I don’t know if you can realistically compare their accomplishments. JM is a great musician, we can still praise him for that without diminishing others and I think JM would agree.
hold up did you just say he's better than hendrix? This guy would be nothing if he wasnt mainstream. He's a really good copycat guitar player. Even wearing some cheap knock off SRV necklace.
@@ejj9956 hes implying that john mayer is better than hendrix... thats some crazy shit. And i dont hate him, he has a few nice songs, but hes nothing compared to hendrix or srv. If you think he is then you know nothing about music.
Bro, I didn't even know real and fake music existed I mean, I think it's like your fault for putting that into categories Like, music is music; if you don't think this is real music that's your problem
This performance is a testament to both John's talent, and a sad swan song for a bygone era of musical appreciation. God, I miss the days of great, raw, music.
I've watched this video many many times, always focusing on that amazing set of licks at 5:35, which I have always thought are some of mayer's best. Did not realize until recently that the lick is a note for note recreation of the vocals in the outro of Aerosmith's "What it Takes," and that the lyrics of said vocals are "I don't wanna burn," in a song called "slow dancing in a burning room." Not only is it really really clever, but the execution is so perfect; you can hear the guitar singing that lyric
Was für ein genialer Gitarrist und ein Fantastischer Künstler.. Könnte ihm Stunden lang zuhören... I Love you John Mayer mach weiter so gute Musik.. Komm nach Köln.. 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
