He is with his buddy Steve Godman now and what wonderful music they are making . The angels are in for some great entertainment. Oh, John we will always miss you.
One of my favorite memories is seeing John perform live in a small venue. And despite what Willie said, i never met Emmylou, but I'm still in love with her.
Jack Thorne I bear that same lament. I was a child of the 60's and 70's and was more consumed by a love of baseball and old movies. Felt more at home in 1939, the golden year of Hollywood, and was exulting with the '69 Miracle Mets rather than the flower children of Woodstock. Enjoyed rock and roll and the songs of the times via the car radio and greatest hits albums. Saw my first concert at 17. My parents let me go with my older sister to a concert at her college. It was the Allman brothers; we were up in the cheap seats, and all I remember was my first nauseating whiff of weed and a bongo solo that never seemed to end. The "concert culture" was just not for me. Sadly, that mindset probably caused me to not pay attention when Linda Ronstadt (and probably Emmylou Harris at some point as well!)played at the same college two years later. Although, not the same as one cannot recapture "a brief moment in time," via these live performances on RU-vid, I am now enjoying and discovering the music and artists of my youth. Mr. Prine is now singing with the other angels from Montgomery and everywhere else, but when this virus intruder is wrestled to the ground, I'm going to try to see any of the oldtimers, still strumming and serenading, that come my way. In my car, right now is a two-set CD of a 1999 CA live performance of Emmylou and Linda promoting their Western Wall album. Trying to make up for lost time! (Btw, if you haven't already,, RU-vid Ms. Harris and Mr. Prine singing his funny "In Spite of Ourselves.")
IMO Emmy Lou has the most beautiful voice in the world. I love Red Dirt Girl, Her version of Sweet Ole World with Neil Young and especially Boulder to Birmingham. Also a little obscure number with Willie Nelson called Gulf Coast Highway.
@@johnhenry4652 Thank you for taking the time to share your recommendations. Just listened to "Sweet Old World" for the very first time. It was quite beautiful and touching. Will listen to Lucinda Williams' version, too. Thanks again.
i got to hear emmylou sing her dream at the alabama theater in birmingham way back in the 70's. she told the story of being young and dreaming of singing on that stage. love the songs.
Lived here all my life these fine artist played local places on regular basis saw them in grocy store, out eating lunch maybe we forget how lucky we were before Nashville lost it's integrity and all this progress bullshit ,these people call themselves country or whatever . There will never have the class as artist as Emy Lou,Guy Clark Townes Van Sandt, John Price ,how lucky I am and those of my generation
"before Nashville lost it's integrity and all this progress bullshit ,these people call themselves country". Mark, that could not have been said any better. Be well. Roger
This is beautiful. Emmy Lew‘s gorgeous boys mixed beautifully with John gravel. John is a poet Emmy Lou is an angel I just love this it brings joy to my life.
I also Agree ! Was Blessed to see Giy ,John ,and Emmylou with Gram early in all Their Careers and found my Heart and Soul again early in Life but still went wondering Lifes Highway and took some wrong truns this Music kept me grounded and for That I will be Forever Grateful for the Great Spirit these Artists Shared !!To the Prine Family Goodness Grace and Peace ! Through a loss of an American Treasure..Thanks for the great post and Thank You Mr Prine for a Lifetime of Good Memories...ol couple way down in TX...JD
Good Morning ,I must be getting old ,and sadly I just finely discovered MR Prine But I love Him ,I new about Emmylou ,and alway's love her music ,together there Magical thank you
I was wondering where the rest of the band was. There is at least a violin and a mandolin somewhere so you have answered my puzzlement. Beautiful song sung by beautiful people.
yeah somebody took the In spite of ourselves when she was singing along to the line because she wasn't familiar with the song and then they spliced in this thing instead... that's why it's not syncing up
I'm not seeing correlation between the video and the audio... this looks to be an overdubbing of an audio recording onto the video. Great Guy Clark tune, terrific recording, nice to see John and Emmy Lou together, even if this isn't really a live recording
The music was, of course, absolutely beautiful, so very special xx I couldn't help noticing that the video doesn't fit the music though!???? really weird one lol!?
It looks like the video was shot from someone in the audience, perhaps on a cell phone. Of course the sound would be inferior, so the audio is from a different recording.
Lyrics:তোমাকে ছাড়া বাঁচার চেয়ে আমি অল্প বয়সেই মরে যেতে চাই........ I'd rather sleep in a box like a bum on the street Than a fine feather bed without your little ol' cold feet And I'd rather be deaf, dumb, and stone blind Than to know that your mornings will never be mine And I'd rather die young than to live without you I'd rather go hungry than eat lonesome stew You know it's once in a lifetime and it won't come again It's here and it's gone on a magnolia wind I'd rather not walk through the garden again If I can't catch your scent on a magnolia wind Well, if it ever comes time that it comes time to go Sis' pack up your fiddle, Sis' pack up your bow If I can't dance with you then I won't dance at all I'll just sit this one out with my back to the wall I'd rather not hear pretty music again If I can't hear your fiddle on a magnolia wind If I can't catch your scent on a magnolia wind
the duet they sang on the guy clark tribute album... this one's for him ... if you don't have it ... get it ... you won't be disappointed btw, who's the idiot that stopped by.... probably someone who has never experienced love
Just want you to know the good news of the Gospel. The bad news is that you and I (everyone) are sinners. And since God is Holy He doesn’t put up with sin. So sin leads to hell. The good news is God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins on the cross. This means Jesus paid the debt we owed but couldn’t pay. So if one repents and places faith (trust) in Jesus Christ they can be assured of heaven. I love you and so does God.
You're right ..is she reading off lyrics...where's the accordion player and violin..there's another version when they were younger..that's what we're hearing.
That's because the video was originally ' In Spite of Ourselves' but has been dubbed with Magnolia Wind. Of course Emmylou would know the words to that song......
