Congratulations Johny5ive - best video yet on how to align the timing belt. All the other guys beat about the bush with all sorts of other info. Yours gets right down to it, clear and simple - thanks...
3:02 before rotating the belt and engine make sure the gearbox or transmission is in neutral, you can also loosen or remove the spark plugs to rotate the engine easier.
I'm just putting a new head on 2.3l pickup truck '89 .....besides what you show here....how do I install the distributer cam into head...what position should I install gear in head
which way should the cam lobes face when on TDC..... i have after market cam pulley which the previous mechanic made 2 marks on it 180 degrees apart..... cant find repair manual to check the cam lobe positions
Hello I'm thinking about doing the timing belt on my 93 Isuzu pickup with a 2.6. I am wondering is there any preparation you have to do before. Or do I just shut my truck off of course let it cool down and then start taking it apart gaining access to my timing belt. I'm wondering are the marks on the pulleys going to be lined up or do I just worry about lining those marks up after I put the new timing belt on. Of course I will have a new timing belt on hand. When you are turning the truck over with that socket wrench do you still have the spark plugs in can you do this I was just wondering because of compression. Thank you for the great video.
Please help. Very informative video but I have a question I need to replace the belt on my 93 Isuzu pickup truck before it breaks it has a 2.6 looks like the same motor that's in your video. I am confused about the top dead center thing. Do I take the old timing belt off and then make sure the cam and crank pulleys are lined up on the marks before installing new belt? And if the marks are not aligned when taking old belt off which way do I turn the pulleys to line them up. And after I line them up will it be top dead center?
Hi John,I've used this video after replacing the head my question is the distributor position should I have it pointing to number 4 and then use a timing light off number 1 ,I've tried this for 3 days won't start what am in missing cheers
Rick LeClair a big 10-4 buddy You don’t want to do the job of removing radiator and fan, you’ll be doing the same work again. At this point u have access to the water pump. U don’t want the pump to go bad 1 week or 6 month after u installed or pay a mechanic to replace the belt and not the pump. U don’t want to be without transportation again! Think about it?
Been watching all your videos, so I'll be prepared when I have to do my head gasket on my 2.6 in the rodeo. BTW, you wouldn't happen to have a cruise control setup for a 2.6 from a 95 pickup?
