Interesting how now, 4years later, Jon Stewart is being called unpatriotic 🤔🤔 for criticizing both Rep and Dem. Hes the only person that seems to have a clue
It’s crazy . Especially given Jon is still fighting the good fight and being a voice for those who don’t have one . Like when he yelled at congress for voting against the PACT act for veterans . This man is a comedian and has done more for veterans and 9/11 first responders than politicians . Not to mention he’s been consistent since the beginning. He’s one of the biggest patriots I’ve seen and as a veteran I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jon . He is also receiving hate from the left too since he’s critical of Biden just as much as Trump . He actually sees things as it is . George Carlin was right about Jon showing us a lot of
Because of Jon... "House panel passes 9/11 victims fund bill a day after Jon Stewart's emotional testimony". It was a unanimous vote. What an absolute legend and a true patriot.
hes pandering. It's easy to browbeat congress about not spending more money on something like 9/11 first responders. how much is enough? when does the spending end?
Jon Stewart has a moral compass that’s stronger than just about any politician. He speaks well and for good causes, I would vote for him in an instant.
@@SaishoVibes He'd never make it in that job and he knows it. He actually cares too much about the people of the nation to make a competent politician. Which sucks, cause we really shouldn't have a system that supports callous, uncaring people getting ahead especially in government but hey, right now that's how things are and the path forward isn't very clear.
This speech has got to be the best damn speech I have heard to Congress in a long while. You can’t fake his anger, his sadness, his tenacity and pure grit to get this bill pass. Bravo to the Heroes of 9/11 & Jon Stewart for never letting them down. 🇨🇦❤️
I would say in the TOP 3 EVER!!! I am a Canadian Citizen & proud of EVERY Man & Woman as a 1st-Responder (as I too was once a proud 1st-Responder [FD & EMT]. Jon has been a long-time favorite of mine, & now a hero, for being the voice that Congress FINALLY listened to.
This is an example on why suicide rates among the disabled are at an epidemic proportion across many demographics. '17-CV-02954-KLM Operation: Crucified Serpent They want to talk about how broken Socialism and Venezuela are among other places; yet, our own public servants don't even get an honest benefits application process. Can't really say Capitalism controlled by corporations and lobbyists works any better. Average wait time at the VA is 7-8 years. The process becomes unconstitutional after the first year, being a legal process handled by lawyers and judges. They have no motivation to decide on claims quickly, veterans get zero interest on backpay regardless how long the claim takes to decide favorably. They need to keep mortality rates up and that is why our leaders have no intention of fixing the system they already know is broken. While it doesn't work for the population, it is working for someone. Whoever those people are, our leaders would rather challenge and wrong us than protect our rights from whatever that group is, which is supposed to be their tax-paid purpose. They could fix these issues; yet, stubbornly refuse to. I've proven it with my own lawsuit, Mr. Stewart has proven it with this documented Congressional visit. Jon Stewart if you see this, following in my footsteps will help us solve this problem. If you are that mad about all this and believe it's time something gets done, there is no other realistic alternative so far. Anyone affected by such issues caused by this government, can utilize the option I came up with to mitigate problems with a 60 year history of murdering countless...often times causing victims such economic or social turmoil that they take their own lives.
@@Angry.General1461 and what about the video evidence on live TV and the hundreds of Americans who saw the planes crash. Or the survivers who talked about it.
Jon "Setting aside that no American should face financial ruin because of a health issue". YES. Conservatives, Democrats and Republicans denying healthcare and claiming that "choice" and "debt" are the issue? That's a lie. Universal healthcare AND CHOICE upon that exists in EACH AND EVERY OTHER developed country.
More people need to understand that a true Patriot doesn't get down on their knees and worship America like an obsessive fanboy. A true patriot recognizes when their country has a problem and gives the country some tough love. Congress needs to swallow their pride and do their jobs.
I think you can add to this and say a true patriot does not play team sports with politics. A true patriot focuses on the issues that face the common citizen and addresses them, regardless of what the stance of any political party is. Jon Stewart is undoubtedly a patriot, as he fights for what he thinks is right, regardless of his personal benefit. Politicians for the most part are not patriots. The only one I can think of who was in recent years, would be John McCain, who often had voted against his own party for what he believed was right.
You couldn't have said it better. One (including a nation) cannot grow and evolve without constructive criticism when it's much needed. A true "patriot" indeed.
The decent people in this country don't go on a soap box for attention. In Jon's case, it's his job, and he takes it seriously (even though it's comedy).
@@einundsiebenziger5488Nope, there are more than you think, they are just not loud and obnoxious. See: current election results. Republicans are being kicked out of every state in this country.

@@Eternal_PlacidityYeah is it just me or is it sad sometimes how half the time comedy shows like The Daily Show that make fun of politics, is often a more reliable news source than... you know... ACTUAL news? Like I kind of feel like that says something and goes to show how screwed up the media is lol.
There's a reason they want to increase congressional pay, but it's frankly a bad faith argument. They want to deter people from accepting outside money from corporate donors or lobbyists and providing them with more money passively is supposed to fix that by being a deterrent. Trusting everyone to do this in good faith is ridiculous. You need a law to accompany this change and force them to not accept money from outside their position.
I wish the American people could give job performance evaluations on congress. I live in TX did anyone else in other states get the ACLU survey about POTUS? It was a hit piece and then asking for $.
I don't care what your political stance is or how you feel about Jon Stewart but he speaks the truth and 911 responders in all our hearts. They deserve the best. Time to man up!!
Every time someone says "Jon Stewart for president" this is the man they want to vote for. If any one thing saddens me about his life and career, it's that this moment will probably be the most impact he ever has on the American government. It is a celebration of his greatest accomplishment and the most damning thing i can say about him, that he only managed to make the American Congress do would they should have done 18 years earlier without even thinking about it.
I'm Australian. I didn't even know this was an issue. I didn't know there was a problem. I didn't know there were health and wellbeing consequences for the first responders to 9/11. And this man just made me cry.
The CIA and the Military Industrial Complex used advanced Blue Beam Technology to “dustify” the TT. They have been planning a fake alien invasion for 70+ years. Don’t fall for it😮
The anger in Jon Stewart is at a level to where you can see him visibly shaking. The country should be incredibly PROUD of him for being the voice for the most courageous who have been let down. Members of Congress not attending is despicable.

True, you'd think it'd be this way, but it's not. It's the majority of Republicans that have been consistently blocking this bill and cutting funding for the healthcare of first responders. This isnt the first time it happened. Also it was majority of Republicans that didn't even bother to show up.
You are so right. It is a American issue and we all need to remember that. They were there when we needed them now it is our turn to be there for them.
Watching in 2024. If you look closely, you can see how lightning-quick our current Speaker of the House Mike Johnson got up and left as soon as Jon was done speaking. Coward.
WTF are you all on about? I'm no fan of Mike Johnson but at no point in the clip does he leave or even look like he's laughing at Jon's Tribeca joke. He actually looks contrite when Jon calls him out. He is literally one of the few members of congress actually clapping after Jon is done speaking. There are only three people clapping for Jon on the panel and that is Johnson, Nadler, and Raskin.

Guess I'm in that .9% because I think it's wrong on a number of ways. For one,how does anyone prove that these illness were caused by 9-11 ? You know folks get cancer and lung issues who never get near bad dust/chemicals,smoke etc? What I have a problem with Stewart is his trotting out sick folks, that he can't say for sure why or how they got sick, and then shames us all for not helping when there were tons of money donated by all kinds of charities when this happened. Those folks should be helped just like every other person---either disability or private health insurance.

Just saw Hamilton with the wife, and the part that stuck out most to me was Hamilton's endorsement of Thomas Jefferson despite being diametrically opposed politically because the man had PRINCIPLES and stuck to them, unlike A. Burr.
I tend to side with Mr. Stewart on a lot of issues, but you're proving with your comment the truth of the matter. This has absolutely nothing to do with politics. This has to do with showing the people who gave of themselves on one of the worst days in American history the common decency and respect they deserve, to take care of the people who did everything to take care of us. Thank you for looking at this with clear eyes despite differences with the person speaking for our first responders. Respect.

if you want some kind of electoral reform, you need ranked ballots, tiered voting. which means that we wouldn't have to always settle for the lesser of two evils. Example: if we had 3 canidates (A, B, and C), we would vote with ballots ranking each candidate as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. That way, If I preferred candidate A and B and list them in my ballot as "1st vote for Canidate A, 2nd for Canidate B"..then if Canidates B and C ended up in the top two positions, My vote wouldn't be wasted on Canidate A.
