I'm so glad he mentioned Ted Levine who should have been nominated for best supporting actor.

If you want an example of how humble Demme was the acceptance speech, from his clear nervousness to his praise of the then crumbling Orion Pictures, is a perfect example. A well deserved win.RIP.

To everyone who's criticizing this speech, he didn't expect to win. And when he did win, he was nervous. He thanked those who came to his head, probably just had a vague idea of who he'd thank if he did win, but when he got up there, he didn't know how to say it, especially since he wanted to think not just the actors, but the people behind the film and the studio, which was going through bankruptcy, so he wanted to say something about them, and then to mention the new directors that came onto the seen just recently. As a result he says "Uh... um.... uh... oh..." a lot. He said a lot more than he anticipated as he didn't think he'd win.
