Not a particularly clever joke, since Republicans make any b-level film or TV celebrity who smiles in their direction the President. In the last 45 years, all Republican Presidents have either been a film or TV celeb or a Bush, and closet celebrity worship and name recognition is the the right wing's substitute for policy
@@QuantumParticle It does, because I say the right is desperate for affirmation from Hollywood, not vice versa. If you can list a bunch of actors and reality show clowns who've been Democratic Presidents, I'll reconsider my comment
@@magnusalexander2965 so your standard for Hollywood shilling for the left is whether there have been Democrat president celebrities? Lmao What matters is the ideologies behind all of it, such as the forcing in black, gay, trans characters into everything. The left ideologies are blatant in Hollywood.
Jack Nicholson is so damn handsome even at this age. Oh man!!! His smile and his facial expressions ...Oh boy!!! Proud to be a die hard Nicholson fan!!!
In my opinion it was one of the best Oscars opening acts ever. Intelligent, smart and funny. Steve Martin is super profesionalist so timing is perfect, and everything is thoughtful. Look, how he looks at Nicole Kidman :)
The slap ruined it for me! Brought me back to 1972 when I escaped the man who abused me! Poor Chris had to just stand there….I ran for my life with my 4 children! No home,no $ ,no car… but I was free!
I remember watching this, and I thought that Steve Martin was hilarious. The next day, critics castigated him. I am obviously not the average person. Thank gawd.
This just Feels like a complete Different era than today... its only 20 years ago but the people who where in their Prime Back than you just dont see so often anymore ...
Diane Lane was with Josh Brolin at this time. Legend has it he was outrageously jealous. She was nominated this night for her role in "Unfaithful", which is a film he had not liked her doing. Note how concerned she looks and looks over at him like, OMG, when Steve put her on that list. She was genuinely thinking, "Damn it, Steve, now I will have to deal with this asshole, later." A little over a year after this, he was arrested for domestic assault against her, but she didn't press charges.
Really? I did not know that. She should have left him and pressed charges the very moment he started becoming violent. No woman must stay in a bad relationship saying that "" he loves me- he won' t do it again- he will change- he promised !"" These bullies never change!!!
I loved how Jack whistled when Polański won Oscar for directing The Pianist. That was the coolest thing ever. He didn't give a damn about public stigma and just cheered for his friend. Beautiful.
From some AFI Lifetime achievement awards to Oscars back in those days, here I am, introduced to "Steve Martin". I mean, that mostly straight face speaking casual still gets me anyway lol. And, Jack interacts his way, which actually adds the right kind of flavor and there we go, the net laughter ages very well. All in all, ol' cool people. Going for these types of clips is a genuinely entertaining journey I guess?!
I don't think people realize how funny that opening line.... It's not just some random poodle head... It's his own prized poodle calling himself gay as well
@@deathshead357 I wouldn't joke much about the real Mafia, this gay Mafia I've never heard of. Does it have anything to do with the lbgtqai Instagram cybernet creeps on the low gradually coming out at every social gathering or event?
