I haven't watched the show, but from these clips I'm getting this image as well. It really seems like they don't take his problems as seriously just because he wasn't born with powers.
@@kylosnow - No, they're like this with both boys. For example, Jordan has been medically diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder. Yet neither Clark nor Lois even thinks it's unhealthy that Jordan has *no* friends! Likewise, aside from some sympathetic statements early on, they quickly lost interest in how moving to Smallville negatively impacted Jonathan's life, and at times it feels like they barely remember he even lives with them unless he makes a point to get their attention.
It seems both sons of Superman are having their own personal issues. Jonathan is being treated differently by Kyle because he knows he's Superman's son, and Jordan is letting his ego get in the way of his better judgment. Jordan in particular isn't taking responsibility for how his actions could lead to massive consequences for his life and the lives of his family members.
That's kind of a hypocritical argument considering how the boys have nearly been killed, possessed, or forcibly merged with their bizarro selves just because Superman's rogue's gallery all seem to know where he lives. IRL, the state would have already stripped Clark and Lois of their parental rights and taken the boys out of their custody!
@@daniels7907 do know that their son as super powers to just stop lois and clark are doing the best they can these are teenager boys they don't always make the best designs but I get why Kyle it doing it though just because his dad is superman doesn't mean it's special privileges I'm sure nothing came easy to Kyle either it's life...
@@callanflanagan8706 - No, he saved that until he was older and started posing for the media and doing a TV interview with Lois. Clark does *nothing* to protect his secret identity. By his own admission, he relies entirely on "people seeing what they want to see". Which is such shameless writer fiat in this day and age that it's laughable. If you held Clark Kent's phone in front of Superman's face it would unlock! Facial recognition tech is a thing after all.
@@agnikaineverdies7646 - That's BS! Clark isn't even careful in Smallville, where most of the population has known him his whole life! He struts around as Superman where any of the locals can get a good look at, or even take pictures of, him!
I see Kyle settling down. He is simply over reacting to something he just learned. Kyle will start treating Johnathan as a normal trainee again in time.
It's funny how they pick and choose when Jordan can use his powers. He has saved them both before with no problem. How can you be so controlling that's inevitable.
Clark and Lois are very hypocritical about this. Especially Clark, who as a teen went around Smallville, masked, to stop crimes and conduct rescues. Martha disapproved of this, but Clark did it anyway in defiance of her wishes. Now that it's Clark's son though, it's not acceptable.
@@daniels7907Clark and Lois are in the right though. They’re not mad that he wants to be a hero, they are mad because he’s only doing it for recognition and fame like Superman gets. Jordan struggled with social anxiety so he uses his powers to feel better. They know that if he keeps this up, he will get himself exposed which would also expose the whole kent family and anyone else who knows the secret.
@@achilleskirklacatan3904 - So, the unspoken part of what you just wrote is that Clark and Lois are shamelessly ignoring the mental health issues that they used to feed Jordan pysch meds designed for humans to treat! This is the exact same problem as how Clark loved Smallville so much that he couldn't even imagine that Jonathan was miserable there! They are two chronically self-absorbed parents who only see the world from their own perspective, and they are completely incapable of being proactive in addressing the boys' emotional issues because they would rather just punish them after the fact for having issues. Clark should have taught Jordan the ins and outs of having a secret identity. But instead he was juts focused on combat sims. As a role model, Clark is alying hypocrite who LOVES to bask in the adoration of the public, even as he punishes Jordan for following his example.
@@daniels7907 Clark doesn't "bask in adoration"; the most we've seen him interact with the public is him nodding or waving (maybe saying a few words) to the people he just saved before flying off. Clark's problem is that he doesn't realize that there's more than one way to be a hero.
@@RavianxReacts - If Jordan didn't use his powers after the police busted up the party, Clark would have had to explain to Lana why her daughter was *dead!*
@@agnikaineverdies7646 - How does that make it better when the supposed point has nothing to do with age, but with preserving secret identities? Jordan is 16. If age is an issue, it won't be for much longer.
The parental hypocrisy continues. Clark used to openly disobey Martha to go play superhero around Smallville. To the extent that Lana even talks about the weirdness that used to go on when they were teenagers. Meanwhile, how many supervillains have shown up at the Kent house and threatened their lives? Clark struts around Smallville openly, and frequently, as Superman. But apparently his glasses are better at hiding the fact that most of the town has known him his whole life than Jordan's hood and goggles are. The writing on this show has really gone downhill this season. Jordan should call Clark out on every single time his and Jonathan's lives have been in danger because of Clark! Clark also needs an attitude adjustment, because he's probably going to need Superboy's help once Lex puts zombie!bizarro into play. Because Clark, and even Sam, somehow stupidly forgot that Mannheim took his body.
It's more about the differences in their situation. When Clark was running around Smallville doing crazy shit, he (supposedly) was always careful to avoid being seen or noticed. So much so that the weird occurrences concerning his heroics had to be chalked up to "Shit's weird, I guess". Additionally, there were no known superheroes when Clark was doing covert heroics. That is not the situation Jordan is in. In this universe, Superman is the ONLY hero with meta-human like powers/abilities. There are effectively NO metahumans. With the conclusion of the X-kryptonite storyline, there shouldn't be anyone running around with Superman level powers. All this to say that Jordan's acts cannot no longer be chalked up weird, unexplainable circumstances. There is someone in Smallville running around with superpowers. Jordan can continue being a hero if he doesn't draw attention to himself which is the whole issue of the past few episodes. He can do all the heroics and dart off before anyone can see him but he INSISTS on being seen. Actually, if he darts off, his actions can be WAIVED AWAY by saying it was probably Superman. This carelessness will inevitably drag his family's secret out into the world and put them in dangerous situations that could be avoided if he gave a damn about his and his family's safety.
@@SuffleKoh13 - Dude, Superman himself keeps showing up in Smallville on a regular basis, despite people there knowing Clark Kent. Literally his *entire* secret identity is preserved by a pair of glasses and wishful thinking ("People see what they want to see."). That Clark and Superman are identical, and that Superman started showing up in Smallville a LOT ever since Clark moved back into town shows just how lazy the writers of the show are! Basically, they're saying that Clark is "careful", in defiance of what they show onscreen, because apparently the people of Smallville have face blindness!
@@daniels7907 They literally do, though. That's the point. Lois worked closely with both the Clark and Superman personas and didn't put two and two together until he revealed himself. The whole point is that no one can ever see Clark being Superman because he does so much to differentiate the two personalities. Whereas Jordan should be hiding that there is a second kryptonian AT ALL because he is not skilled or powerful enough to be putting a a target on his back. He agreed to start as a covert hero but he has been more brazen in trying to reveal himself to the world. When he is like a junior. Would you want your 16 year old running around making SUPER POWERED enemies when he has proven that he is prone to anxiety attacks or brash actions Jordan is wrong to be pulling his shit when Clark is frankly doing a great job in providing him training opportunities.
@@SuffleKoh13 - No, he does NOT do much of ANYTHING to hide his identities. This is 1930's nonsense from an era when men wore suits most of the time and hats when they were out in public. Even so, the whole idea that Clark's secret identity would work has been openly mocked for DECADES now! Don't believe me? Search for the clip titled: "L&C - 02x18 Clark Kent is Superman Duh!"
@@daniels7907remember when Clark revealed himself to Lana she asked him how could nobody else see this and he said people see what they want to see basically saying that people in Superman's world choose to see what they want to see because it's easier to believe that then to think that Clark is Superman
I think what they are doing isn’t hazing. It’s tough love. Toughening them up for when you become a firefighter it’s hard. You have to listen clearly get things right the first time. If you make a mistake on the job in a full on fire, people die. I understand John wanting to earn his place. I’m disabled and people would give me good grades I didn’t deserve and rewards I didn’t earn. It wasn’t until I was older that I saw it fkr what it was- worthless, they meant well but I didn’t earn it. I eventually finished my schooling at home where my teachers couldn’t see me, it was like self regulated, you turned in your work to the school but you decided when and where you did it. But you had a deadline, mine was stretched out once my mother described my health and concentration issues, therefore I took 8 yrs to earn my HS degree, but I earned it on my merit not out of pity. I totally get John wanting to earn his dues on his own merit and not get special treatment. There were some teachers who treated me normal and were almost harder on me or at least it felt like it because the work was sooo hard. Ugh I could not figure it out snd they were tough on me, but looking back I respect them for it.
Maybe, when Clark was a teenager, the youth didn't have smartphones for recording as today, that's why Clark could operate with certain freedom, but now the technology is more advanced. For example, If Clark would do the same thing that Jordan did when he stood in front of all boys and girls, only the reporter or journalist photographer could take a picture, but now, with the smartphones, you cand do it
He also busted up robberies. In Smallville. Despite Martha not wanting him doing that sort of thing. Clark joins the ranks of countless parents who punish their kids for things they themselves got away with when they were that age.
Johnathon should be like his Grandfather and joins the Army or Marines and be his own man. He should ask his grandfather to sign him up and ask him not to give preferential treatment.
Careful? He literally posed for a photo shoot instead of flying away after this scene, thus proving his parents right that he isn't ready to act like a super hero when he cares more about fame than actually saving people.
@@RavianxReacts People already know about Superman so it's different. Besides Clark had to create a persona and announce himself to the world cause there was no other super to take the blame for his hero acts, and people would be more scared and suspicious if weird things kept happening without explanation. Jordan has no need to do that, his savings could be attributed to other hero and he could stay incognito, but he decided he wanted fame which puts his family in danger cause he is not as good as Clark at covering his tracks.
