You know how I know this story is fake? They didn't clinch at home. They clinch game 7 in Houston. It was the only world series ever were the road team won every game.

I can see why Papelbon is considered a cancer. Yes, he was right to call out Harper and I think Harper has been a better player since then. But Papelbon seems like the guy who has an opinion about everything and believes he is always right even when he really is just talking out of his ass. I'm an atheist, but I don't see anything wrong with Rendon saying he puts family and faith above baseball. It's not even a unique position to take

@@willpina Papelbon seemed to be talking out of it in this interview when he says the Sox are too cautious after the Sox signed Hendricks & Fulmer even though they won't pitch for the Sox until midseason and '25, respectively, at the earliest.

Too many fans are new and had no idea how immature Bryce Harper was in the early 2010s.

Approaching Harper the way Papelbon did that day was not the way a leader in the clubhouse does it no matter what someone else does. Thats the way clubhouse cancers approach a situation. Papelbon was the cancer and very much a hypocrite.

Which is amazing considering Oakland is running a glorified AAA team out there, where the manager STILL has more legacy talent than anyone on the team. Yet... they still had great success on a team with Ohtani, Trout, Rendon, Moore, and later Gio, López, etc. Granted alot of them were injured, but still...

His last three years with the Nationals were huge, then he signed a big-money, long-term contract and totally tanked. It's not the first time this has happened and it won't be the last. Long-term contracts with guaranteed money are the worst thing that has happened to baseball.

@@45vinyljunkie Your theory would be more valid if 1) he hadn't been one of the best players in the league during the COVID season, which was after he joined the Angels and had the big contract and 2) if he hadn't been battling injuries since then. Also, Papelbon is one of the worst sources you could possibly find. There are several past teammates that have come out publicly stating how dumb he is. Seriously, look it up. I wouldn't trust this guys judgement or opinion of his teammates nor do I care what his values or priorities are. He freaking choked Harper for not hustling. I'd venture to say that Papelbon, besides being a moron, might make baseball too much of a priority.

@@jyee2217 Well, he's had some unfortunate injuries, but last year it was the hamate bone-- it's a common injury. He hit 40HRs two seasons ago in only 130 games. He's only 32 and the skill is there. Ron Washington says he's going to be allowed to steal bases again. I think he has a monster year and Ohtani is in the NL.
